Jeremy Clarkson revealed the 'stressful' symptoms he suffered despite having 'no idea' he was close to death last year. The 65-year-old presenter underwent heart surgery in October and had two stents fitted, but had no clue how ill he actually was as he was 'working very hard'.
The TV star spoke about his health ahead of the latest series of Clarkson's Farm, which will see how he plans for harvest and the launch of his pub, The Farmer's Dog, went south when his health started getting worse. Jeremy admitted it was 'tricky' as he had no idea about his ailing health while working 'very hard'.
He revealed his health 'went off like a bomb' in the last two episodes and viewers will be able to see him "becoming more and more ill as the days go on, because I just lose my sense of humour, lose my ability to stay calm."
Speaking to The Sun, he said: "I get in a proper old panic. I didn't know at the time. I knew I wasn't being me. I was trying to get the pub open for the August Bank Holiday weekend and, at the same time, doing the harvest on the farm.
"And it's very well documented I ended up in hospital with a heart problem." He went on to discuss the "incredibly stressful time" and said he was exhausted from trying to launch the pub during harvest time.
When he had two stents fitted, he was told that he needed to change his diet by his doctors when they found that two arteries were blocked.
He was taken to hospital after he found he had symptoms which included chest tightness, feeling pins and needles in his left arm and clamminess.
Jeremy went to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford where he had the operation. Doctors told him is was "days away" from death before being fitted with the stent that holds his arteries open to improve blood flow to his heart.
A stent is a wire mesh tube that props open arteries. Surgeons perform what's known as an angioplasty to open up the narrowed artery.
Earlier in the year, Jeremy shared a health update while he was filming Who Wants to be a Millionaire?. He spoke about his new routines which has made him feel better than ever.
He said at the time: "My phone flashed up this morning saying: 'you are taking far fewer steps this week than last'. I thought, 'yeah I would be as I am sitting here'
"It also says you are eating far fewer sausages. I just sit here and eat celery. I am feeling better on it. I do feel very well."

I can only assume it's because he likes it.' He continued: 'The truth is, we do need to know this stuff. I've had too many friends go down with prostate cancer, and all it takes to get on top of the situation early is a moment or two of being a bit cross-eyed. You get the all-clear and the doc goes home happy. What's not to like? 'I went home very happy, because the initial probing and photographing suggests all is well. And let me tell you, nothing makes you feel better than knowing for sure you're not going to drop dead tomorrow morning.' Jeremy's own Gerald Cooper, who is a frequent star on his Amazon Prime show Clarkson's Farm, was treated for prostate cancer and underwent surgery in 2023. Gerald revealed in June last year that he had been given the all clear from doctors. It comes after Jeremy revealed the very unlikely reason he was arrested and thrown into a French prison aged just 19. Speaking during the new series of his Clarkson's Farm, the broadcaster blamed his brush with the law on a slug. He said: 'I once had to go to prison in France because of a slug. True story. I went to a restaurant called La Pomme d'Amour and there was a slug in my lettuce'. Jeremy explained that the apologetic waiter then offered him as much as he could drink in a bid to quickly smooth over the situation. 'I was only 19 so I thought: "I will then" And I did. I was arrested a bit later because I was a bit wobbly. I was trying to explain to the policeman that I'd eaten a slug and the man had given me a lot of drink'. 'But I couldn't think what the French for slug was. I said: "Je mange un escargot sans maison" [I eat a snail without a home]. 'They just thought: "This man is definitely paralytic", I got thrown into prison because I didn't know the French for slug.' Elsewhere during the latest episodes, Jeremy was left choked up as he thanked his farm assistant Harriet Cowan for 'saving his life' during an emotional send-off. Jeremy Clarkson has opened up about the health scare he endured last year while on holiday - which led to him requiring emergency surgery and the insertion of a stent Jeremy Clarkson has shared fresh details on a holiday incident that left him "days from death". The TV star was panicked in 2004 when a trip abroad resulted in a health scare. Jeremy, 65, suffered a health emergency in 2024 which resulted in emergency heart surgery, including the insertion of a stent. The Clarkson's Farm star was holidaying in the Indian Ocean when disaster struck. Now, almost a year on, the star has shed more light on his terrifying health emergency - revealing his ordeal began when he attempted to jump into the ocean. Having initially planned a graceful dive, he realised, mid-aid, that he would land awkwardly. He explained that he ended up performing a "belly flop" which then put a strain on his body as he tried to swim back to shore. Going into detail, he told the Sunday Times: 'When I finally reached the beach my lungs were full of water and I realised I can't do it anymore.' He was left fearing he would fall over, as he recalled: "There's just no sense that my knees can handle the pressure." He went on to recall awakening the next day feeling "clammy" and with a pain in his chest - but he ignored the symptom. After noticing pins and needles in his left arm, he decided to finally seek help and an ambulance was called. He was then rushed to hospital where he received emergency treatment. He said: 'It seems that of the arteries feeding my heart with nourishing blood, one was completely blocked and the second of three was heading that way.' Discussing just how close to death he had been, the star recalled a doctor telling him: "Days away? 'Maybe." The star then underwent an angioplasty, which is where a wire is inserting through the wrist to explore potentially damaged arteries. Recounting being conscious for the procedure, the star wrote: "It's weird, lying there and feeling a metal pipe with a camera on the end wiggling its way round your shoulder and through your chest." Surgeons fitted a stent to keep an artery open, meaning the star avoided the need for a full heart bypass. The star has explained he is now living a healthier lifestyle. Last year, Clarkson recounted in another column that he felt tightness in his chest and pins and needles in his left arm leading to his health diagnosis. He wrote at the time: 'I certainly wasn't having a heart attack. But if it hadn't looked that way, I never would have been sent to hospital.' He had also explained he sought help after noticing he couldn't make it up the stairs unaided, had struggled to swim, and needed to 'take a moment to make sure my limbs were working properly' when he stood up. He added: "These problems all manifested themselves in one day, which made the rest of my holiday extremely relaxing because all I did was sit in a chair drinking wine and eating chees."

She went on to have twin girls in 1997 for the same couple and they continue to be close to this day. Baby four, in March 1998 was a girl for a couple who had suffered multiple miscarriages. Five was a little girl for a couple who already had a child with another surrogate. Baby six was a little girl who completed the family for the parents of baby number four. Megan Horlock Next was a little girl - her eighth surrogate child - for a couple whose previous surrogate had kept the baby. Baby nine caused a public outcry, as the little boy turned out to be Carole's and her husband Paul's - but she still gave him away. Triplets came next, making up babies 10, 11 and 12 who were born after IVF and via a caesarean. While baby 13 was a little boy born in April 2012, again by caesarean. Risks of birth at 58 IT is possible for a woman to give birth at 58 but natural conception is extremely rare and most women of this age need IVF, often using donor eggs due to diminished ovarian reserve. Multiple previous pregnancies, especially with multiple births and multiple caesareans, significantly increase risks such as uterine rupture, placenta previa, and haemorrhage. Using donor eggs from a younger woman can reduce the risk of chromosomal abnormalities, such as Down's syndrome. But the risks of pregnancy complications – including gestational diabetes, pre-eclampsia, hypertension, and preterm birth – are significantly higher due to the mother's age. There are substantial risks. Older mothers also face a higher likelihood of requiring intensive care during or after delivery. The risks increase with each successive caesarean. NHS fertility treatment is only offered to women aged under 43. Many UK specialists may be reluctant due to the high medical risks involved but age limits may be more flexible abroad. Dr Sami Almusawa is a Fertility Consultant at Megan said: 'My first memory of Mum being pregnant with a surrogate baby was when I was four. Advertisement 'When I was growing up I remember my mum being pregnant most of the time. 'She was a single mum back then, working full time in a launderette, bringing me and Stephanie up single handedly whilst also being a surrogate. "She was like superwoman. For a lot of the pregnancies she worked until she was literally in labour. 'We were involved in everything. 'She'd tell us: 'The lady's tummy is broken so she's borrowing Mummy's tummy.' Advertisement 'In the evenings our favourite game was eating Maltesers while watching TV and we used to balance them on her belly and try to get the baby to kick it off. 'We'd follow the couples through the pregnancy journey and when she gave birth, I got to meet them and hold their child. 'Even at such a young age it was a fantastic experience because you saw each couple grow with excitement throughout the nine months. 'I have a WhatsApp group with some of them and we plan to meet," she says. "They were like cousins, but in reality as Mum donated her eggs for some of the pregnancies, some are my half-brothers and half-sisters biologically. Pain over long lost brother Meghan was seven when Carole met her now husband Paul, now 71. She said: 'He is my dad. He became a part of our surrogacy journey too. There was more love in our home than many families experience. 'I wouldn't say I missed out on anything. I think my life was more full of love because of my mum doing this. Advertisement Megan, who has a long-term partner and lives in Braintree, Essex, said: 'Mum and Paul did a lot of soul searching as Paul does not have biological children of his own, although I think of him as my dad. But they hadn't planned to have a child and so they decided to let them keep him. 'I do think of baby nine more than the other children, because we are estranged and he is my half-brother. 'I quite often wonder what he looks like, how he acts, the things he likes, what his personality is like. I wonder what he's up to, he might be at university. I wonder if he looks like me. She said: 'The doctors decided to induce her because of her age and the risk of pre-eclampsia, rather than there being a pre-eclampsia developing, which Mum didn't agree with. 'Her body knows what it's doing. It was very difficult to watch my mum go through the pain of being induced, a caesarean and the recovery. 'She did admit that pregnancy did take more out of her than the previous ones because of her age. Advertisement 'Twelve years have passed since then and I think it's a lot later in life. 'It's going to be twice as hard as the last time and the risks to health during the labour are going to be higher. 'Having had two previous caesareans, it just increases the risk even more. It's a huge concern. 'Mum is my best friend. There is nothing she could ever do that would ever upset me enough to affect our relationship. 'As much as I have my personal views, ultimately I will support her through her decision and journey and be there for her. 'I still believe people should be able to do what they want in life and be able to live how they want.' Last night Carole said: 'My daughter's feelings are very important to me, in fact they are everything. 'But I know my body and I'll be taking the best medical advice in the world to ensure my body can do this and see a pregnancy through. "I know my body but I won't let a couple down - so tests will confirm if this can go ahead. I'm confident I can do this.'
