Matthijs de Ligt added to Netherlands squad for Nations League quarter-finals
Manchester United defender Matthijs de Ligt has been added to the Netherlands squad for March's Nations League quarter-finals.
De Ligt was not initially selected when Ronald Koeman named his provisional squad on February 28, but he has since been recalled after defenders Nathan Ake and Stefan de Vrij withdrew due to injury. Ake is sidelined after undergoing foot surgery, while De Vrij sat out Inter's Champions League win over Feyenoord on Tuesday.

Last month's omission had been the first time the 25-year-old had not been picked in a squad, apart from when he has been injured, since making his international debut in 2017.
De Ligt has made 38 appearances in all competitions for Manchester United this season following his summer move from Bayern Munich. He experienced a difficult international call-up in September, where he was substituted at half-time during a 2-2 draw with Germany having made mistakes in the build-up to both opposition goals.
The Netherlands squad is otherwise unchanged from the one Koeman named in February, with De Ligt's United team-mate Joshua Zirkzee continuing to miss out, and Memphis Depay returning for the first time since the 2024 European Championship.

Memphis, 31, joined Corinthians on a free transfer in September following the conclusion of his Atletico Madrid contract. He scored seven goals in 11 league appearances for the Brazilian side during the 2024 season.
Speaking in September, Koeman said the forward still had an international future, performance-dependent, after criticising Steven Bergwijn's move to Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad.
'I disapproved of Steven Bergwijn's move to Saudi but with Memphis, it can be different,' Koeman said. 'The level of the league in Brazil is different, so yes, he can still be part of the national team, but it depends on his fitness and if he reaches his level.'
The Netherlands play Spain in a two-legged Nations League quarter-final tie on March 20 and 23.

Former Aston Villa '£100m man' tipped for surprise Premier League switch
Aston Villa fans will long remember the days Jack Grealish donned the claret and blue, made a name for himself at his boyhood club, and as a result earned that lucrative move to Manchester City. Four years, three Premier League titles, an FA Cup and a Champions League winners medal later, it looks like his time at the Etihad Stadium has run out. Advertisement Pep Guardiola is reportedly having a bit of a 'clear-out' in a bid to oust Liverpool from the summit of the English top tier next season, with an offload of players and bunch of incomings expected this summer. READ MORE: Aston Villa released list in full as 13 players exit club READ MORE: Aston Villa publish retained list with four players offered new contracts It appears Grealish is a victim of the Spaniard's squad cuts, which has left many to ponder where his future lies. Could it be a return to Villa Park, a move abroad or perhaps Saudi Arabia? If you look at the bookies' odds, it just might surprise you. Advertisement Everton (7/2) are the favourites for his signature, closely followed by Napoli (6/4), Tottenham Hotspur (11/2), Bayer Leverkusen and Chelsea (both 10/1). While the odds also say the England international could very much remain at Manchester City (5/4), though that doesn't look incredibly likely at present. But should Aston Villa enter the race for his services, a return probably wouldn't be the worst idea in the world. Unai Emery has a reputation of reigniting player's fledgling careers, with Marcus Rashford's loan from Manchester United last season a prime example. The chances of that, however, appear to be fairly low (8/1) so don't hang your hopes on it. Sky Sports: Tottenham Hotspur have Joined the Race to Sign 24-year-old Premier League Star
Tottenham Hotspur Turn Up the Heat in Race for Semenyo Tottenham Hotspur have stepped up their interest in Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, as reported by Sky Sports News, with the North London club seeking to bolster their attacking options ahead of a pivotal new era under expected incoming manager Thomas Frank. Advertisement According to Sky, 'Tottenham have stepped up their interest in Antoine Semenyo' with the Bournemouth star now firmly on Spurs' radar. The 24-year-old Ghana international, who impressed in the Premier League last season with his pace, power and direct style, fits the mould of the energetic, forward-thinking football Spurs are expected to play under Frank. Photo IMAGO Spurs Seek Firepower Amidst Rebuild Following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham are clearly not standing still. Their pursuit of Semenyo signals ambition and a desire to reshape the attack. With the future of Richarlison uncertain and Heung-Min Son not getting any younger, investing in a dynamic, goal-hungry talent like Semenyo makes long-term sense. Advertisement Crucially, Spurs are not alone in admiring the Bournemouth striker. Sky Sports confirmed, 'Manchester United also remain admirers of the Bournemouth forward', despite their primary focus being elsewhere. The Red Devils had a £55 million bid for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo rejected, and they are 'expected to follow-up with another offer'. Mbeumo Chase Gives Spurs Opening This transfer window has turned into a game of dominoes. Manchester United's aggressive pursuit of Mbeumo, who is also 'on the list at Spurs' according to Sky, has seemingly opened the door for Tottenham to act swiftly on Semenyo. United appear to be focused on Mbeumo for now, while Spurs may see a chance to move ahead in the queue for Semenyo without immediate pressure from their rivals. Given the growing price tag Brentford have attached to Mbeumo, Spurs' interest may be shifting toward a more attainable, and arguably better value, option. Photo: IMAGO Semenyo's Rise and Appeal Semenyo's stock has quietly risen in the last 12 months. A key figure in Andoni Iraola's attacking setup, he has developed into a versatile forward who can lead the line or play from wide areas. His ability to stretch defences and his powerful ball-carrying ability make him an ideal fit for high-tempo pressing football. Advertisement With Frank's appointment all but confirmed, his knowledge of Semenyo and the Premier League market could be a key factor in accelerating this deal. The incoming manager knows what it takes to succeed in England's top tier, and Semenyo might be one of his first major signings. As clubs like Manchester United continue to dominate headlines with expensive pursuits, Tottenham's more astute and calculated approach might just give them the upper hand in a race that could define their season. Our View – EPL Index Analysis From a Tottenham Hotspur fan's perspective, this news is massive. Antoine Semenyo is exactly the kind of player we've been crying out for — raw pace, physical presence and a real direct threat in the final third. After watching us play sideways football for most of last season, the thought of someone who actually runs at defenders is mouth-watering. Advertisement Also, the timing is perfect. With Thomas Frank expected to come in, you can already feel the direction the club wants to go. High-energy, flexible forwards are his bread and butter. If Semenyo is one of his first signings, it shows we're backing the new manager early — which we didn't really do with Ange, let's be honest. What I love most is that we're going toe-to-toe with United and might actually win. While they're busy throwing £55 million bids for Mbeumo, we could quietly wrap up a deal for Semenyo, who arguably fits our style better and is less of a risk. Let's not forget, Bournemouth gave us a tough time this season, and Semenyo was a big part of that. If you can't beat them, sign them. This move would be smart, shrewd and very Spursy — in the right way.

Inter decide to sign Zalewski permanently
Inter have decided to activate the buy option and make Nicola Zalewski's signing permanent. As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter will sign Zalewski to a permanent contract, thus guaranteeing Roma a revenue of €6.5 million. Advertisement Despite the change on the bench and the departure of Simone Inzaghi, the Nerazzurri management wanted to confirm their faith in the player, focusing on him as an important player for the future. For Roma, this is a useful operation to raise money, especially in view of new investments to be made on the market. After the revenue from the sales of Le Fée and Dahl, this is another strategic entry that allows the club to operate with greater margin on incoming negotiations. Meanwhile, Zalewski leaves the capital once and for all and prepares for a new chapter in his career.
