Commission report on Kaleshwaram will be tabled in the Assembly to decide future course of action: CM
The Chief Minister said the session of the legislature will be convened soon so as to elicit the views of all political parties on the future course of action that should be taken into the findings of the report. 'We will take views of all political parties. Leader of the Opposition K. Chandrashekhar Rao and his party can give their views on the report,' he said.
Mr. Revanth Reddy was speaking on Monday (August 04) after the meeting of the State Cabinet which approved the Ghose Commission report. He lamented that the previous government headed by Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao shifted the location of the Pranahita Chevella project in the name of redesign and commissioned the construction of Medigadda Barrage against the recommendations of the expert committee. Two other barrages Annaram and Sundilla, forming part of the project, too developed cracks, he said adding the lopsided decisions of the previous government had resulted in damages to the project which was billed as lifeline for Telangana.
He said the Congress government had appointed the judicial commission in line with the promise made in the election manifesto and the Commission conducted thorough examination of over 110 people, including Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao, then Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao and Finance Minister Eatala Rajender, before finalising its report. 'There are no politics in this. The Commission is an independent judicial body, not a government-manned one,' he said replying to queries on charges made by BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavita. He said Ms. Kavita ought to have represented her case to the Commission if she had any issues rather than criticising the government now.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka criticised the former Chief Minister and BRS president for misleading the Assembly with his claims on Kaleshwaram project. While suppressing the report of the expert committee against construction of the barrages, the previous government claimed that the project had approvals from the Cabinet and fulfilled all the requirements. 'It is the sole decision of the then Chief Minister to change the project site with claims that there is no availability of water at Tummidihatti. This was at a time when the then Union Jal Shakti Minister Uma Bharti approved hydrological clearance to Pranahita Chevella project on the ground that 205 tmcft water was available at Tummidihatti,' he said.

Governor RN Ravi reserves Kalaignar University Bill for President's assent, delays new varsity launch
CHENNAI: Governor RN Ravi has reserved the Kalaignar University Bill, passed by the legislative assembly to form a new university in Kumbakonam with the chief minister as chancellor, for the President's consideration. 'The governor has not given immediate assent to the bill but has instead, referred it to the President for a decision. This will further delay the process of formation of the university as we have to wait for the President's reply, ' said a higher education official. The President can either give assent, withhold assent, or return the bill for state government had announced the new university in the name of former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi in Kumbakonam in this year's budget. The bill proposed that the chief minister (presently MK Stalin) will be the chancellor of the university and the higher education minister would be the pro-chancellor. The bill was moved in the legislative Assembly in April this year and later sent to governor for his assent. Chezhiaan had announced that the university would start functioning from academic year 2025-26 only, however due to delay in governor's assent the department could not inaugurate the varsity, said a higher education official. Stalin and higher education minister Govi Chezhian had expressed their displeasure, claiming the governor had been sitting on the bill for three months and that the government was considering moving the SC again. The Supreme Court's landmark judgment in April approved 10 amendment bills that curtailed the governor's powers to appoint V-Cs in 18 of the 20 state-run universities. However, another bill to amend the University of Madras Act is also pending President's approval. Apart from approving the bills, the SC also set a timeline for governors to act on bills.

As per Rules 2025, the students who have passed matriculation and intermediate from the State will get priority in the appointment of education department's jobs— both in teaching and non-teaching, Cabinet Secretariat Department's Additional Chief Secretary S. Siddharth told reporters in a post cabinet briefing. Mr. Siddharth added that the move would enable around 85% of reservation in jobs for the people originally hailing from the State. Only 15% will be left open as an unreserved category in which people from across the country can appear for the examinations for getting jobs, he said while asserting that 'domicile policy has been implemented in the State.' The Rules will come into effect with the holding of Teachers Recruitment Examination (TRE)-4 which is scheduled to be held this year (2025) and TRE-5 which will be held in 2026. Mr. Kumar had on Monday (August 4, 2025) directed education department officials to amend the relevant rules to give priority to the people of Bihar in the teacher appointment. The State government on July 8, 2025 had approved 35% reservation in all the government jobs 'only for women domicile'. The women from the State have been getting the benefit of 35% reservation in State government jobs since 2016. The Cabinet also decided to hike in the honorariums of support staff working in education, health and rural development departments which include school cooks, watchmen, physical education instructors, Mamata, ASHA and sanitation workers The Cabinet approved the Education Department's proposal to change the reference date to complete 75% attendance to avail the various benefits like scholarships, uniform and bi-cycle through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Mr. Siddharth said that the reference date will now be April 1 to July 31, 2025 as against the existing reference date of April 1 to September 30. The decision will be applicable to all the government, government aided (including minority) secondary and higher secondary schools. With a view to provide better and quality education to the students through digital medium, the Bihar Cabinet also gave its nod for opening a 'digital library kendra' in all 243 Assembly constituencies of the State. The 'digital library kendra' in every Assembly constituency will be set up under Mukhya Mantri Digital Library Yojana at an estimated cost of ₹94.50 crore. 'The digital library will be set up in a panchayat building, block office, municipal council building, nagar panchayat building, community halls, school and college premises having additional space for the purpose and other places,' Mr. Siddharth said adding that each library will have 10 computer terminals equipped with electricity and high speed internet connectivity. BRS in damage control mode as Harish exposes chinks in KLIS report
Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader T Harish Rao on Tuesday said that Revanth Reddy was ruling the state only to harass their party Chief K Chandrashekar Rao and alleged that the government has released a cooked-up report without facts. The BRS leader on Tuesday made a power point presentation on 'Congress Conspiracies on Kaleshwaram Project Commission's Distortions vs Facts' at Telangana Bhavan which was shown in the district party offices to create awareness among the party leaders. Harish Rao alleged that Revanth Reddy had thrown governance to the winds and was engaging in political vendetta. He alleged that they have released a cooked-up report without facts. To get bills cleared, they are demanding 10–12 per cent commissions. The BJP and Congress were colluding to carry out this vendetta. Stating that the Polavaram project collapsed three times on Godavari River but no NDSA has gone there, but the moment a minor incident happened at Medigadda, the NDSA rushed there. 'Notices do not reach us, but leaks are given to the media beforehand. This entire commission inquiry appears to be driven by conspiracy. Once this 665-page report is tabled in the Assembly, we will corner the government. We will place the real facts before the people,' said Harish Rao, alleging that out of 665 pages, the government picked only selective points to show. This is a one-sided report based only on what they wanted to see and hear. It is a baseless report, he expressed. The BRS leader said that many commissions were set up in this country before and they do not stand in courts of law. Even in the past, several political leaders were targeted through commissions. During Congress rule, why was even a fistful of soil not laid at Thammidihatti? There was no water availability there. There is rich biodiversity, and objections came from Maharashtra. That is why no project was built at that site. Rao pointed out that through Mission Kakatiya, thousands of tanks were restored and the pending projects were transformed into running projects. They only carried bags of commissions to Delhi – did nothing else, he accused. 'When Cotton Barrage was built, a commission was set up to harass him. Yet, Cotton remains in the hearts of the Godavari people. Likewise, KCR will forever remain like a God in the hearts of Telangana people. Kaleshwaram is truly a boon – even Revanth Reddy knows this,' said Rao. If someone claims Kaleshwaram has collapsed, how can they then say water will be brought to Gandhamalla? Stating that there was no secrecy in the Kaleshwaram project and every detail was in the DPR. 'Our only aim was to provide water to farmers. Within one year, we secured all approvals for the Kaleshwaram project. Eleven central government agencies gave their clearances for the project. All the required permissions for a project were obtained. Then who is the Commission blaming now? Will the Commission blame the Centre and the agencies that gave these approvals?' questioned Rao.
