Patriots reportedly don't intend to cut Stefon Diggs amid video controversy
On the seventh day of the New England Patriots' Organized Team Activities, wide receiver Stefon Diggs finally made an appearance.
It's common for accomplished veterans to wait until training camp to start practicing with the team, but Diggs' presence at OTAs was notable and important for both the player and the franchise after he became subject to national criticism last week when a video of him partying on a boat went viral and the Patriots had to answer for it.

Along with addressing Diggs' off-field decision-making, the Patriots shut down any rumors that they would cut the receiver they just acquired in free agency, per NFL Network.
That report and Diggs' attendance at OTAs are both good signs.
The Patriots signed Diggs, a four-time Pro Bowler, to a three-year deal worth $69 million ($26 million guaranteed) in March, and wouldn't want the time that went into that deal to go to waste. Since that deal, though, his offseason has been highlighted by NBA game appearances with his girlfriend Cardi B and the boat video.
Reporting to OTAs, though, changes the narrative. It shows that the Patriots and Diggs are on the same page about working to get him onto the field — a process that will have its share of obstacles and doesn't need any additional controversy getting in the way.
That's because Diggs is still recovering from the ACL tear he sustained in Week 8 of last season while playing for his previous team, the Houston Texans. It's expected to keep him out at least through Week 4 of this season, per the Athletic.
Based on the money the Patriots invested in Diggs, he should be incentivized to prioritize and focus on his rehabilitation. While it may not have been last week, it's seemingly moving in that direction, and showing up at OTAs is a clear and positive sign of that.

If the Commanders are expecting a big jump for Daniels, then they are probably thinking about a potential MVP big, which is a major ask for a player who doesn't turn 25 until late December. Coming out of LSU, Daniels was viewed as a potential top pick. Although he wasn't first-overall like many franchise quarterbacks who came before him, Daniels was snatched at No. 2 by the Commanders. The Commanders felt good about their chances of advancing to Super Bowl LIX, but they struggled on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship. The playoff run ended on a low note, but Daniels shined during his first postseason by throwing for 822 yards, five touchdowns, and just one interception. He recorded 12 catches for 87 yards and a touchdown last season. There are no guarantees that he'll even make the team with 12 receivers currently on the roster. It could be a huge help for the struggling young receiver to be working alongside and getting tips from a four-time Pro Bowl receiver in Diggs. There was hope that Diggs would be more than just an offensive weapon for the Patriots. At 31 years old, he's also the most experienced wide receiver on the roster. He could serve as a mentor on a roster loaded with receiver talent. Both Polk and Diggs were limited participants at OTAs due to injuries. However, Diggs is expected to be the top receiving option for quarterback Drake Maye when he's fully healthy. Polk has shown flashes of high-end potential at practice, but he hasn't been able to put it together on the field in games. Cowboys' Trevon Diggs Facing Financial Loss After Absence

As the Dallas Cowboys prepare for the next phase of OTAs, star cornerback Trevon Diggs has an important decision to make in the coming weeks. The injured cornerback could be looking at a financial loss if he chooses to stay away from the team during the mandatory portion of minicamp. While that rule would be applied to any player who misses the action, hence the keyword being "mandatory," Diggs' lack of presence at the first two phases of minicamp raised a red flag on a clause attached to his deal with the Cowboys. Lately, Diggs has been in Miami, Florida, rehabbing his surgically repaired left knee. Choosing to do the rehab in Dallas would've helped Diggs avoid this type of situation. The good news is that the Cowboys are far from concerned about the situation. When Dallas' head coach Brian Schottenheimer spoke on the situation, he suggested that "all signs are positive" regarding Diggs. Cowboys Executive Vice President Stephen Jones echoed a similar sentiment, noting that Diggs is "getting the work done" in his rehab. For the time being, the Cowboys' organization believes that Diggs will be in attendance for the minicamp when it takes place, beginning on June 10, and wrapping up on the 12th of the month. Last season, Diggs appeared in the first 10 matchups of the season for the Cowboys. After the team's Week 10 loss against the Houston Texans, Diggs went inactive for two weeks in a row. He would return during Week 14 to take on the Bengals. After a five-tackle effort, Diggs was sidelined for the remainder of the season. He missed four games in a row due to a knee injury. According to ESPN, Diggs is "likely" to start training camp on the PUP list. Right now, his first four weeks of the 2025 NFL season are in danger. If Diggs can't get off the list by the start of the season, he would automatically have to sit out for four games. The Cowboys aren't jumping the gun just yet. Until they are able to see Diggs and the status of his recovery in person, there won't be any decisions made regarding his status for training camp. Dallas has not revealed the official start date of training camp, but Diggs should have a better idea of his status for the practices by late July, when everything begins.
