Stefon Diggs caught working with struggling Patriots WR on sideline
OTAs are a chance for veterans and rookies to get to know and learn from each other, and it appears that New England Patriots veteran receiver Stefon Diggs and second-year wideout Ja'Lynn Polk are doing just that.
A video surfaced of Diggs working with Polk on the sidelines during an OTAs practice session.
Polk, a second-round draft pick, is looking to bounce back after a disappointing rookie campaign. He recorded 12 catches for 87 yards and a touchdown last season. There are no guarantees that he'll even make the team with 12 receivers currently on the roster.
It could be a huge help for the struggling young receiver to be working alongside and getting tips from a four-time Pro Bowl receiver in Diggs.
There was hope that Diggs would be more than just an offensive weapon for the Patriots. At 31 years old, he's also the most experienced wide receiver on the roster. He could serve as a mentor on a roster loaded with receiver talent.
Both Polk and Diggs were limited participants at OTAs due to injuries. However, Diggs is expected to be the top receiving option for quarterback Drake Maye when he's fully healthy. Polk has shown flashes of high-end potential at practice, but he hasn't been able to put it together on the field in games.
Perhaps he can finally unlock his full potential by learning from a star player like Diggs.

New York Jets Urged to Sign Pro Bowl Receiver
New York Jets Urged to Sign Pro Bowl Receiver originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The New York Jets have one of the brightest young stars in the NFL at wide receiver in Garrett Wilson. Despite being plagued by subpar and inconsistent quarterback play his entire NFL career, Wilson has eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in each of his three NFL seasons. Advertisement Entering 2025, the Jets, like most of Wilson's career, don't have a clear No. 2 on the roster. New York is hopeful that they have found a solution to their quarterback inconsistencies, signing Wilson's college teammate Justin Fields to a two-year deal. But outside of Wilson, the rest of the receiver depth chart is a mixup of veterans Allen Lazard, Josh Reynolds, and Tyler Johnson, as well as rookie Arian Smith. and second year Malachi Corley Pro Football Sports Network Brandon put together a list of one free agent each NFL team should target, and for the Jets, his pick is former Pro Bowl receiver Amari Cooper. "Amari Cooper is not nearly the player he once was, but he could still be an upgrade for the Jets." Austin noted. "He does turn 31 before the season starts and will need to prove he still has enough left in the tank to have a feature role in an offense. Cooper has had a strong NFL career, recording more than 10,000 receiving yards. He's long been viewed as a reliable go-to option, but things never materialized for him in Buffalo." Advertisement Cooper has made four Pro Bowls in his 10 NFL seasons, most recently in 2023 with the Cleveland Browns, where he turned in a 1,250 yard, five touchdown season. Cooper made Pro Bowls on three of the four NFL teams he's played on, the lone exception being a Jets' AFC East rival in the Buffalo Bills, who Cooper played eight games for lost season. "Cooper's size, experience, and route-running ability should still attract a Jets offense that finished 20th in EPA per dropback and 21st in pass success rate," Austin wrote. "His ceiling isn't what it used to be, but with Wilson leading the pack and a talented backfield that features Breece Hall, New York won't need Cooper to be the top option." Jets Urged To 'Tap Into' One Key Justin Fields Trait
Jets Urged To 'Tap Into' One Key Justin Fields Trait originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The New York Jets' offense under new offensive coordinator Engstrand will look vastly altered from last season. Advertisement New voices, a new scheme, and most importantly, a new quarterback make for a different-looking unit. Justin Fields has been handed the starting role and comes to the Big Apple looking to ignite and save his NFL career after four seasons of so-so production. One weapon Fields possesses is his ability as a runner, with rushing totals of 1,143 yards in 2022 and 657 in 2023. Last season, before he was benched for Russell Wilson, he had five rushing touchdowns and 289 yards in his six starts. For Pro Football Focus, Engstrand utilizing Fields' running ability has to be done regularly. "New York finally moved on from the failed Aaron Rodgers experiment and replaced him with Justin Fields on a two-year, $40 million contract," Pro Football Focus writes. Advertisement "Fields has never been a top-20 quarterback in PFF overall grade in any of his four seasons, but he's still only 26 years old and will be reuniting with Garrett Wilson, whom he threw passes to at Ohio State. With an underwhelming receiving corps outside of Wilson, the Jets would be wise to tap into Fields' rushing ability as much as possible." Quarterback Justin Fields warms up© Charles LeClaire-Imagn Images With a solid group of backs behind him in Breece Hall and Braelon Allen, Fields won't have to shoulder all the rushing duties, and Garrett Wilson, Josh Reynolds, Allen Lazard, and rookie Mason Taylor are options in the passing game. But for most, the Jets' offense should be a run-first unit, and Fields will/should play a big role in that. Advertisement We know how devastating he can be as a runner, and even NFL Network's Brian Baldinger stated how dangerous Fields looked running the football at OTAs. There are a lot of ways for Engstrand to go with how he should run his offense, and Fields, as a genuine runner, has to be one of them. New York Jets Predicted to Have Four First-Time Pro Bowlers
New York Jets Predicted to Have Four First-Time Pro Bowlers originally appeared on Athlon Sports. In 2024, the 5-12 New York Jets send just one player to the Pro Bowl: defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, who was selected as a replacement player. It wasn't for a lack of talent, but due to the turmoil caused by the coaching situation, many talented youngsters on the Jets underperformed. Advertisement 2025 hopes to have a different outlook for a Jets team with new faces at quarterback, head coach and general manager. Predictions for the upcoming season seem to be all over the place for the Jets, with some analysts suggesting a potential playoff run, while other suggest the Jets are headed for another top selection in the NFL Draft. Sporting News' Peter Martuneac predicts four Jets will make their first Pro Bowls in 2025. Martuneac's first selection is the new quarterback in town, Justin Fields. "For the Jets, it begins and ends with their likely QB1, Justin Fields." Noted Martuneac. "Despite streaky play thus far in his four NFL seasons, Fields has flashed plenty of glimpses of an elite quarterback. And, to be fair to Fields, he was never surrounded by the type of talent this Jets team currently has, nor did he receive much competent coaching while in Chicago. If the Jets can finally unlock Fields and get him to his full potential, the sky's the limit, and the early returns in OTA's are promising. Not only would he be a Pro Bowler, but an All-Pro award would likely be in play, as well." Advertisement Fields' No. 1 target for the upcoming season and former college teammate is also primed for his first Pro Bowl appearance, despite being potentially snubbed in previous years, according to Martuneac. "He may have been Rookie of the Year in 2022, but Wilson has somehow failed to win a Pro Bowl award despite starting his career off with three straight 1,000 yard seasons. And he did all that with mostly questionable quarterback play." Wrote Martuneac. "Now he has his old Ohio State teammate Justin Fields throwing him the ball, and they already appear to be recapturing that old chemistry that made Ohio State's offense so electric in 2020. If Fields lives up to his potential, expect Wilson to be the main beneficiary of that which should be more than enough for his first Pro Bowl nod." Completing a trifecta of offensive Pro Bowl selections is Breece Hall. Hall's offseason has been a bit tumultuous, with head coach Aaron Glenn suggesting he may opt for a running back by committee approach, which may limit Hall's carries. But Martuneac believes Hall is about to embark on his best season yet. "Despite somewhat of a down year in 2024, Hall is primed for a career year. By adding Justin Fields, one of the most dynamic running quarterbacks in the NFL, the Jets' run game has the juice for an explosive season. On top of that, they greatly improved the offensive line, as well." Wrote Martuneac. "Don't be surprised if Hall flirts with 2,000 total yards in 2025 give the improvements to both the O-line and quarterback position. The ceiling is truly sky-high for him." Advertisement On the defensive side of the ball, 2024 breakout star Will McDonald IV will finally get his flowers, according to Martuneac. "When the Jets drafted McDonald in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, most analysts had little good to say about the pick, and his rookie season seemed to confirm those doubts. But McDonald silenced all the haters with a mini-breakout in 2024 in which he registered 10.5 sacks and 24 QB hits." Martuneac wrote. "With the highly regarded defensive mind of Aaron Glenn now in New York, expect McDonald to have a true breakout season in 2025. I would not be surprised to see him hit 17 sacks this year. If he can get those numbers and lead a dominant Jets defense to the playoffs, he's a shoo-in for his first Pro Bowl award."
