
Ganja seized from woman passenger at Coimbatore airport
Officers of the Air Intelligence Unit and Baggage Officers of Air Customs Unit seized 3.15 kg of ganja (hydroponic weed) from a woman passenger on June 6 at the Coimbatore International Airport.
Sources said the passenger, who is aged 22-23 years and is from Idukki in Kerala, was carrying ganja worth more than ₹3 crore in her checked-in baggage. She arrived at the Coimbatore airport from Bangkok via Singapore by flight TR 540 (Scoot flight).
Investigation is in progress under the NDPS ACT, 1986, read with the Customs Act, 1962. The operation was carried out by the Air Customs Office at the airport under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner of Customs, Coimbatore Airport, the sources said on Saturday (June 7, 2025).

Delhi HC grants interim bail to woman suffering from cancer
New Delhi [India], June 7 (ANI): The Delhi High Court has granted interim bail to a woman whose condition is serious due to cancer. She is an accused in a drug case registered by the Delhi Police Crime Branch under the NDPS Act. Justice Tushar Rao Gedela granted petitioner Jyoti interim bail until June 15. The High Court will hear the application on June 13. While issuing notice to the state, the bench has asked the Investigation Officer to verify the medical documents and a status report be filed within 3 days. Keeping in view the extreme and terminal medical condition of the applicant and in view of the humanitarian medical crisis which has arisen, the court allowed the application seeking interim bail. 'The applicant is enlarged on interim bail on medical grounds till.15.06.2025, subject to the applicant furnishing a personal bond of Rs . 1,00,000 with one surety of the like amount, subject to the satisfaction of the Jail Superintendent/Trial Court,' Justice Gedela ordered on June 4. Petitioner is an accused in an NDPS Act and was granted interim bail on May 19, 2025 till June 5 on the medical grounds in view of her condition. However the trial court refused to extend the interim bail as her regular bail is pending before the High court. Thereafter, an application seeking interim bail was moved before the High Court. Senior advocate Amit Chaddh,a counsel for the applicant, submitted that as per the Diagnosis Report dated 02.06.2025 of the hospital, the applicant Jyoti, aged 39 years, is suffering from Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia. This is an uncommon and rare kind of cancer. It was further submitted that on an application seeking further extension of the interim bail, on 04.06.2025, the Sessions Judge was not inclined to extend it further and had rejected the interim bail application holding that he had no jurisdiction, since the regular bail plea is pending before this Court. Patiala cops arrest man facing 17 cases after shootout
Patiala: The CIA staff of Patiala police on Saturday arrested a gangster associated with the Goldy Dhillon gang after a shootout on Sadhu Bela Road in the Urban Estate of Patiala. Police identified the gangster as 27-year-old Sunny Kumar alias Tari, a resident of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Colony near Rajpura Colony, Patiala. Patiala SSP Varun Sharma claimed that a team received information that he was planning a major crime in some area of Patiala, following which a team led by CIA Patiala in-charge Pradeep Singh Bajwa chased Kumar, who was on a stolen motorcycle, on Sadhu Bela Road. "The criminal, cornered by the CIA staff police, fired four shots at the police with an illegal .32 bore pistol," said the SSP. Sharma added the police team shot the accused in the leg, after which he was apprehended on the spot. A stolen motorcycle, a pistol, and three cartridges were seized from him. "Kumar had been workingfor the Goldy Dhillon gang for two years, which committed crimes in the Rajpura area recently. Kumar is a hardened criminal with 17 cases registered against him, including under the NDPS Act", said Varun Sharma. SSP praised the bravery of SP (investigation) Gurbans Singh Bains and inspector Pradeep Bajwa, stating their prompt action prevented a sensational crime in Patiala district.

Peddler held with 140 kg poppy husk
Ludhiana: A drug peddler was arrested with 140kg of poppy husk Friday night. He has been identified by police as Sukchain Singh of Chakar village here. Inspector Kuljinder Singh, SHO of Hathur PS, said vehicles were being checked in Chakar when a suspicious car arrived late in the night. Four plastic bags were found lying in its back seat, and three more in the car boot. All the bags were filled with poppy husks. Police seized the husk and apprehended the accused. He was booked under the NDPS Act. During investigation, police found that a case of drug peddling was registered against the accused eight years ago. He used to bring poppy husk from other states and supply it to nearby villages.
