State to adopt zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics: Dy CM Sharma
Sharma directed officials that every case be investigated end-to-end—tracking the entire trafficking network, financial transactions, and identifying all associates—to dismantle the trade from its roots. Range-wise reports on drug destruction and actions taken under the PIT-NDPS Act were also reviewed.
On police recruitment, Sharma directed that all hiring processes must be transparent, impartial, and completed within a set timeframe.
He also called for wide publicity of the toll-free number for complaints related to illegal immigrants, ensuring swift action on any such report to safeguard public peace and security.
The meeting also reviewed progress on buildings under construction by the Police Housing Corporation and the PWD.

MIM slams NCERT changes, role of RSS
1 2 Hyderabad: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday said that the BJP govt at the Centre should include the book 'Muslims Against Partition' by Shamsul Islam in the NCERT-recommended syllabi. "This lie about partition is repeated time and again. At that time, not even 2–3% of Muslims had the right to vote. Only elitists such as zamindars and jagirdars were enfranchised. Even today, they (RSS and BJP) blame us (Muslims) for the partition of the country. How were we responsible for that? Those who fled, fled. Those who were loyal, stayed," he said. Responding to media queries regarding proposed changes to the NCERT syllabus concerning the partition of the country, he stated that the RSS was never part of India's freedom struggle and did not participate in the Quit India Movement, the Salt Satyagraha, or other agitations. "Why don't they include in the NCERT syllabus that the RSS hated freedom fighters more than the British did? The RSS always sided with the British. Let them teach students all of this as well. No, they only want to spread hatred against Muslims," Owaisi alleged. He claimed the RSS never participated in the independence movement. "The RSS's Hindutva ideology has always been contrary to the Constitution. It was wrong for the PM to praise an organisation that spreads hatred in the country," he asserted. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). AI helps trace, nab truck driver involved in hit-and-run from UP
Nagpur: The Nagpur rural police used AI (artificial intelligence) through their indigenous tool, MARVEL, to apprehend a truck driver responsible for a hit-and-run accident on Nagpur-Jabalpur highway. The driver was tracked 700km away on Gwalior-Kanpur highway and was apprehended in less than a week on Saturday. On August 16, Deolapar police arrested Satyapal Rajendra, 28, from Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh, at his residence and seized the vehicle involved in the incident. The hit-and-run case gained widespread attention after a man's video of returning home on a bike with his wife's body tied to the seat went viral on social media. SP Nagpur (rural), Harssh A Poddar, said that the AI-driven technology calculated the truck's average speed as captured by a CCTV if it passed unhindered. "AI red flags if any anomaly is found in the calculated average speed and the actual one. We fed information into the system about a red truck which threw up results about five such vehicles. Subsequent investigations led the police to zero in on the accused who has now been apprehended," said Poddar, adding the vehicle plied between the Chandrapur-Kanpur-Delhi route. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Use an AI Writing Tool That Actually Understands Your Voice Grammarly Install Now Undo Gyarsi Yadav, 30, was killed and her husband, Amit, 35, injured after a truck with UP registration number hit their two-wheeler near Morphata Dargah under Deolapar police station limits on August 10.
