Cal Raleigh reaches 100-RBI mark as Mariners rally past Mets
The Mariners laced a team-record nine doubles and finished with 16 hits overall as they improved to 10-3 this month. Cal Raleigh hit his major league-leading 46th homer in the third, a two-run shot that made him the first player this season to reach 100 RBIs. He added two doubles later in the game.
Caleb Ferguson (3-2), the third of seven Mariners pitchers, earned the win with a perfect sixth.
Francisco Lindor was 3-for-4 with two homers -- including a leadoff shot -- and four RBIs for the Mets, who have lost 14 of their last 16. Francisco Alvarez was 2-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs while Juan Soto homered in the fourth.
Each team blew two leads in the first six innings before the Mariners went ahead for good against Ryan Helsley (3-4) and Brooks Raley in the seventh.
Eugenio Suarez chased Helsley by doubling home Raleigh to tie the game with one out and scored on Canzone's single off Raley. Mitch Garver walked and Donovan Solano followed with an RBI double. One out later, Cole Young recorded his third hit, a two-run double, to extend the lead to 10-6.
Julio Rodriguez had his second RBI double in the eighth before the Mets rallied in the bottom half, when Alvarez hit an opposite-field three-run homer off Jackson Kowar. But Matt Brash struck out Ronny Mauricio and got Lindor to pop out to third before Andres Munoz notched his 29th save with a perfect ninth.
Garver homered in the second for the Mariners. Every starter had at least one hit except J.P. Crawford.
Mariners starter Luis Castillo gave up six runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out five over four innings. Mets starter Sean Manaea allowed four runs on six hits and one walk while striking out seven over five innings.

Terry McLaurin off PUP list, can practice with Commanders
August 16 - The Washington Commanders removed disgruntled wide receiver Terry McLaurin from the physically unable to perform list early Saturday. And while the two sides have yet to agree to a contract extension, the transaction means McLaurin can return to practice and start preparing for the season. Multiple outlets reported Saturday that there was no sign of movement on a deal. Offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury said Friday that time was running short before the season for McLaurin to start getting reps on the field. The Commanders open the season at home Sept. 7 against the New York Giants, their NFC East rival. McLaurin, who turns 30 in September, was put on the PUP list when he reported to camp on July 27, with the team citing an ankle injury. He missed the start of camp and was fined $50,000 per day and $200,000 in total, as allowed by the collective bargaining agreement. He is seeking an extension as he enters the final season of a three-year, $68.4 million deal. His average annual salary of $22.8 million ranks 17th among receivers. Cincinnati's Ja'Marr Chase is No. 1, earning an average of $40.2 million, per Spotrac. "On the business side, (Commanders general manager Adam Peters) and his side are still working very hard with Terry and his reps on the business side of things," head coach Dan Quinn said when McLaurin reported. The Washington Commanders have activated disgruntled receiver Terry McLaurin off the physically unable to perform (PUP) list as the All-Pro receiver continues to seek a contract extension in D.C. or a trade to a more accommodating organization. McLaurin, an All-Pro and quarterback Jayden Daniels' favorite target, is entering the final season of his three-year, $68.2 million contact. Recently he was fined $200,000 by the team for skipping mandatory minicamp and the first four days of training camp. He has since returned to the team facility in Ashburn, Virginia, where he was placed on the PUP list with an ankle injury last month. Since then, McLaurin has requested a trade, but offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury sparked some optimism this week when he said he wanted to work with the team's full roster. 'We need to start getting those guys, when they´re available out there,' Kingsbury said. One day later, McLaurin was activated, although what this means for his long-term future remains unclear. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the move to take McLaurin off PUP is strictly about his recovery from ankle problems and not connected to any contract discussions. The activation comes a week after Stephen A. Smith ripped McLaurin for his holdout and trade request.
