'We agreed with the ACC to organise this year's AGM,' Aminul said on Tuesday. 'It is an ACC programme. We are providing them with logistical support. That's all we are doing. We are in touch with the ACC, who is informing us who is coming and who is not, as we have to make arrangements for airport pick-ups, hotel bookings and other support.'

BCCI puts ball into Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma's court on ODI future; ‘if they have something in mind, they would tell…'

Following the completition of the England Test series, the chatter around Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's ODI future once again came to the fore. The speculations regarding the Indian stalwart's future in 50-over cricket started recently when a Dainik Jagran report stated that duo might retire after their away series against Australia in October. Having already retired from Tests and T20Is, both Rohit and Kohli are only available for ODIs for India. Based on the report, if the Indian duo wants to prolong their career - particularly play in the 2027 ODI World Cup - its compulsory for both Rohit and Kohli to play the Vijay Hazare Trophy later in the year to stay in shape for selection. However, according to a PTI report, the BCCI is not thinking about Rohit and Kohli's immediate future but the 2026 T20 World Cup and the Asia Cup 2025. 'Obviously, if they (Rohit and Kohli) have something in mind, they would tell the BCCI brass like they did before the England Test tour,' the news agency quoted a BCCI official, on conditions of anonymity. "But from an Indian team's perspective, the next big assignment is the T20 World Cup in February and preparations before that. The immediate focus will be on sending the best team for the Asia Cup T20 tournament, hoping all players are fit and available," the source added. The last time Kohli and Rohit played for India was during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which the Men in Blue won for the second time in history. The Indian team was led by Rohit, who defeated New Zealand in the final played in Dubai.

Rohit, Kohli should continue in ODIs if they perform: Sourav Ganguly

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly on Sunday feels Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli should continue playing ODIs as long as they are performing, given their "phenomenal" record in the fifty-overs format. Reacting to media reports suggesting that the upcoming ODI series in Australia could be the last for the celebrated duo, Ganguly said he was not aware of any such development. "I'm not aware of this, can't comment on this, he remarked when asked about the speculation. Ganguly however stressed that performance should be the deciding factor in prolonging their careers. "It's difficult to say. Whoever does well will play. If they do well, they should continue. Kohli's one-day record is phenomenal, even Rohit Sharma's. Both of them are phenomenal in white-ball cricket, he said during AWL Agri Business Ltd Event. According to reports, the tour of Australia in October could mark the final ODI appearances for the two Indian greats Kohli and Rohit, who have already played their last in T20Is and Tests. The duo have so far remained non-committal on whether they are targeting the 2027 World Cup. India's ODI tour of Australia begins on October 19, with matches scheduled in Perth, Adelaide and Sydney, followed by three home ODIs against South Africa in December. The 2026 calendar features ODI series against New Zealand, Afghanistan, England, the West Indies, and another contest against New Zealand. On the upcoming T20 Asia Cup in Dubai from September 9, Ganguly said the Indian team woulb be the favourties, coming off a much-needed break after the gruelling five Tests in England. They are in the middle of a break. After the IPL, they played five Tests and now they will play the Asia Cup from September 9. "India are very strong, and if they are strong in red-ball cricket, they are even stronger in white-ball cricket. So, in my opinion, India are favourites, and beating them on those good Dubai wickets will be very tough. Asked about Shubman Gill's prospects as Test captain, Ganguly was in all praise for the young Indian Test skipper: He's India's Test captain, and his future is full of promise, he said. Ganguly further said he's all set for a second inning in cricket administration and would file nomination. "If members wish, will file nomination (for CAB president's post), added the former BCCI president, who was CAB president from mid-2015 to October 2019.

Virat Kohli-Rohit Sharma comeback: BCCI in no hurry to take a call on future

It's that time of the year when speculation is rife about the impending ODI future of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, but if one goes by the decision makers in the Indian cricket board, there is no tearing hurry to take an immediate call on the two the Bangladesh series scheduled in August being called off, India's next ODI assignment will be an away series from October 19-25 against cricket runs on narratives, and currently it is about whether Kohli and Rohit, with a cumulative 83 ODI hundreds and 25,000-plus runs, can last till the October 2027 ODI World Cup when they would be 39 and 40-year old respectively. "Obviously, if they (Rohit and Kohli) have something in mind, they would tell the BCCI brass like they did before the England Test tour. But from an Indian team's perspective, the next big assignment is the T20 World Cup in February and preparations before that. The immediate focus will be on sending the best team for the Asia Cup T20 tournament, hoping all players are fit and available," a BCCI source privy to the developments told PTI on conditions of BCCI never believes in taking decisions in haste and would always gauge the mood and public perceptions before taking a call, which is sensitive in nature considering the massive fan following of the two last tournament that they played was the Champions Trophy in Dubai where Kohli scored a hundred in a successful chase against Pakistan at the group league stage while Rohit starred with a sublime half-century in the chase during the both have not played competitive cricket since the conclusion of the Indian Premier who is now a resident of London, had recently posted an Instagram story after an indoor nets session, which is an indicator that he has started who was also in the UK on a break post IPL, is recently back in Mumbai and would certainly be expected to start training in a few there are some media reports about BCCI offering the duo a farewell game at Sydney on October 25, the BCCI source in the know of things said that as of now, no such discussions have taken far as playing the Vijay Hazare Trophy is concerned, the source said that the national One-Day Championship starts on December 24, 2025 and even before that, there is another three-match ODI series at home against South Africa starting November 30."Even if they play Vijay Hazare, before that there would already be six ODIs that will be played. In between the Australia ODIs and the South Africa ODIs, there is an India A series against South Africa A where three List A games (50 overs) will be held at Rajkot on November 13, 16 and 19 will the duo want to play those three A games, or possibly two, before the South Africa series is the question. Even more important is whether Ajit Agarkar and his colleagues would want that," he said."Overlapping the Vijay Hazare Trophy (December 24, 2025 - January 18, 2025) will be the three ODIs between India and New Zealand (January 11, 14, 18). So even if they play the Vijay Hazare Trophy, it can't be for more than two to three games," he added.- EndsMust Watch
