Dubai Health Authority Becomes First Government Entity in the Middle East to Leverage AI-Powered ‘Genesys' System in Contact Centre Services
As part of its participation in Dubai AI Week, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has announced the implementation of the advanced Genesys AI-powered speech and text analytics system at its contact centre. With this step, DHA becomes the first government entity in the Middle East and the UAE to adopt this cutting-edge technology, reinforcing Dubai's commitment to integrating advanced digital tools to elevate government service efficiency and responsiveness.
The newly deployed system enables DHA to automatically analyse and interpret human emotions and understand customer needs through voice and digital channels. This allows for immediate, personalised responses and data-driven solutions, aligning with Dubai's strategic goals to accelerate the adoption of AI across public services.
Fatima Al Khaja, Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer at the Dubai Health Authority, highlighted that implementing the Genesys system reflects the Authority's deep commitment to building a proactive, data-led customer experience management ecosystem. 'Our goal is to place people at the centre of every healthcare service,' she said. 'Through real-time interaction, sentiment analysis, and predictive tools, we can better understand expectations and meet them efficiently.'
Between January and March 2025, the system processed over 72000 digital and voice interactions, covering 96 topics across 55 queues available within the DHA Contact Center in Arabic and English, including custom interactions. According to Al Khaja, this enhanced the speed and accuracy of service delivery, raised overall satisfaction levels, and improved staff performance thanks to real-time monitoring, gamified motivation tools, and AI-guided training.
'The system has transformed the way we engage with our community,' Al Khaja added. 'It provides deeper insights into actual needs, allowing us to continuously optimise services and embody Dubai's innovation-first approach to excellence.'
Sebastien Ballerini, Vice President of Strategic Growth for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Genesys, expressed his pride in collaborating with DHA to use AI in understanding and analysing human interactions. 'DHA's adoption of Genesys represents a strong vote of confidence in our capabilities and reaffirms its leadership in future-ready government solutions,' he said.
He noted that Genesys is the only contact centre provider in the UAE officially certified by the Dubai Electronic Security Center, and this partnership is a significant milestone in building a smart, personalised, data-driven service environment that sets new benchmarks for public sector customer experience.

Egypt's PM inaugurates new ambulance authority HQ on 123rd anniversary
Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly inaugurated the Egyptian Ambulance Authority's new headquarters in Hadayek October City, coinciding with the 123rd anniversary of Egypt's ambulance services. Madbouly toured the facility, where Amr Rashid, Chairperson of the Egyptian Ambulance Authority, showcased its modern equipment designed to enhance service capabilities. New services were launched alongside the opening. The Prime Minister inspected the call receiving centre, described by Sherif Medhat, Director General of Strategic Planning, as Egypt's first governmental call centre. It aims to improve the handling of citizen reports via the unified 123 emergency number. The centre has 187 operator seats, with expansion potential, and is staffed 24/7 for emergency and non-emergency calls nationwide. Medhat stated the centre meets international standards with advanced communication technology. It links all Authority branches, enabling instant call reception and redistribution. A 'CAD' (Computer-Aided Dispatch) system assigns ambulances based on proximity, availability, and call nature, with automated vehicle tracking. New 'Mobile CAD' technology links ambulances to operations rooms via tablets for better task distribution and patient access. The 'Esaafny' (Ambulance Me) mobile app was also launched, Medhat announced. It allows users to request and schedule non-emergency ambulance services, check fees, and track vehicles. The app includes a complaint and suggestion feature. Madbouly also inspected the National Training Centre at the new headquarters. Mohamed El-Sherbiny, Head of Central Administration for Training, explained that training is crucial for improving the skills of medical and administrative staff. The centre is nationally accredited by the Central Agency for Organization and Administration and is seeking international accreditations. El-Sherbiny noted American Heart Association accreditation for basic support and heart-saver programmes. It is also developing training for injury management and major incidents, seeking accreditation from bodies like the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Emergency Physicians. The centre is accredited for these specialisations and pre-hospital injury programmes. El-Sherbiny added the centre seeks partnerships with international organisations and universities, citing a joint programme with Japan's Koshkin University for ambulance worker qualification and accreditation from the British Academy of Continuing Medical Education. Collaborations with international maritime, river, and air ambulance services include a partnership with the Spanish Association for Air and Sea Transport, involving joint field exercises. Maritime ambulance training is planned. The training centre also increases public awareness through first aid programmes, El-Sherbiny said. About 40,000 people have been trained under the 'A New Beginning for the Egyptian Human Being' presidential initiative, 20,000 in the last three months. The centre collaborates with international bodies like the World Health Organization, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and the International Organization for Migration. The centre trains 4,000 Ambulance Authority employees and a similar number of external individuals annually, combining theoretical lectures with practical training. American Heart Association programmes use observation-based learning with realistic scenarios. The centre uses competent, accredited trainers nationwide.

During the event, he also inaugurated the new headquarters of the Ambulance Authority in 6th of October City. As part of the ceremony, the Prime Minister honored several exemplary members of the Egyptian Ambulance Authority for their outstanding service. In a significant milestone, Egypt launched its first-ever marine ambulance service, deploying three marine ambulances to serve the nation's coasts—part of a fleet of six currently in preparation. Additionally, the country has introduced an electronic ambulance guidance system, now operational in Port Said and 6th of October Governorates. Dr. Amr Rashid, head of the Egyptian Ambulance Authority, highlighted the substantial growth of the service in recent years. 'We now have 3,264 fully equipped ambulances, staffed by over 13,000 paramedics and drivers who work around the clock to save lives. Our teams have not stood apart from global crises—they have rushed to aid suffering Palestinians and Sudanese,' he stated. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, announced the addition of several new services to the Ambulance Authority. These include both emergency and non-emergency offerings, as well as the launch of a new mobile app, Isaefni(Arabic for "Save Me"), aimed at improving access to ambulance services.
