Watch: Jeweller Refuses Money From 93-year-old Man Buying Wife A Mangalsutra
Last Updated:
Nivrutti Shinde walked into Gopika Jewellers with his wife, Shantabai, to buy her a mangalsutra.
True love doesn't need big gestures; sometimes a small act is enough. A video of a 93-year-old man, Nivrutti Shinde, walking into a jewellery store with his wife, Shantabai, to buy her a Mangalsutra has gone viral and it's melting a million hearts. The video is from Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
In a simple white dhoti-kurta and cap, the man stepped into the store. At first, the staff assumed they needed help or financial support. But the man told them that he wanted to buy a mangalsutra for his wife.
After they carefully selected a mangalsutra, the shopkeeper asked how much money they had. The couple said they had Rs 1,120. When the woman offered the money, the shopkeeper smiled and joked, 'So much money?" But the elderly man took it seriously and added some coins to the amount.
The small gesture touched the shopkeeper's heart. He decided not to take full payment. Instead, he gave the mangalsutra to the couple and took only Rs 20 as a symbolic charge.
'The couple entered the shop and the man gave me Rs 1,120, saying he wanted to buy a mangalsutra for his wife. I was overwhelmed by his gesture. I just took Rs 20 from him as a token of blessings, and handed over the mangalsutra to the couple," the owner said as quoted by Hindustan Times.
This gesture moved the couple to tears. They were touched by the shopkeeper's kindness.
The video of the moment has taken social media by storm. It was widely shared on X (formerly Twitter), where users praised both the couple and the jeweller.
Someone simply called it 'so wholesome."
'The tears of happiness and contentment of those elderly couple will bless him and his generation to come," a person admired.
A viewer remarked, 'Should be the only couple goal. So much love. An eye opener for modern people," while an individual added, 'Everything about this video is beautiful to watch."
'Stories like these are so wonderful and heartwarming," read another comment.
As per the outlet, Nivrutti and Shantabai are farmers from Ambhora Jahagir village in Jalna district. The couple is currently on a foot pilgrimage to Pandharpur for the Ashadhi Ekadashi festival.

Tom Brady's ex-wife Gisele Bündchen insults Instagram models, says she'd never lower herself to their Instagram tactics
Gisele Bündchen's Vogue interview sparked controversy with remarks about younger models' Instagram use (Image via her IG) In a memorable moment from 2018, legendary supermodel Gisele Bündchen sparked a heated debate in the fashion world after making remarks about younger models using Instagram for self-promotion. Her comments, published in the July cover story of Vogue, were quickly met with backlash—forcing Bündchen to clarify her stance and defend her respect for the younger generation navigating today's digital-heavy modeling landscape. Gisele Bündchen's initial comments on Instagram modeling raised eyebrows At the time, Tom Brady's ex-wife Gisele Bündchen told Vogue that her younger sister created her Instagram account, stating, 'If it was me, it would only be pictures of sunsets.' She went on to add, 'It's not my generation — I have to be honest about that. I'm older, wiser. If I had to promote myself in the way girls modeling now have to do it, forget it. I wouldn't do it.' Though she was sharing her personal experience and generational perspective, many interpreted the comments as a subtle dig at modern models who leverage Instagram to build their careers. Gisele Bündchen responds to criticism and sets the record straight Facing criticism online, the Brazilian supermodel took to Twitter to clarify that her remarks had been misunderstood. 'My intention was simply to express that I come from an older generation and am not technologically savvy,' she tweeted. 'I admire the younger generation and their skill to manage all the added demand of social media.' She added, 'I certainly never feel that I am wiser than anyone, and I believe that we are all learning.' In the same Vogue interview, Bündchen shared a more personal side, revealing how she never fully felt at home in the fashion world. 'Modeling is a job that I do, a career that I've had,' she explained. 'It allowed me to see the world, and I was well paid for it. But it never defined me.' She went on to say, 'I'm a Cancer, the little crab. Loves the home, her sanctuary, all the cozy things. So I was a fish out of water in fashion.'
