Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate two major National Highway projects worth a combined cost of nearly Rs 11,000 crore on 17th August, 2025, at around 12:30 PM in Rohini, Delhi. The projects, the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II), have been developed under the Government's comprehensive plan to decongest the capital, with the objective of greatly improving connectivity, cutting travel time, and reducing traffic in Delhi and its surrounding initiatives reflect Prime Minister Modi's vision of creating world-class infrastructure that enhances ease of living and ensures seamless mobility. As per the statement, the 10.1 km long Delhi section of Dwarka Expressway has been developed at a cost of around Rs. 5,360 crore. The section will also provide Multi-modal connectivity to Yashobhoomi, DMRC Blue line and Orange line, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station and the Dwarka cluster Bus Depot. 'This section comprises: Package I covers a 5.9 km stretch from the Shiv Murti intersection to the Road Under Bridge (RUB) at Dwarka Sector-21, while Package II spans 4.2 km from the Dwarka Sector-21 RUB to the Delhi-Haryana border, offering direct connectivity to Urban Extension Road-II,' the statement from PMO added. According to a India Today report, these new stretches are expected to reduce travel time from Noida to IGI Airport to just 20 minutes. At present, commuters from Noida to IGI Airport face journeys of over an hour, often longer during rush hour. With UER-2 and the Dwarka Expressway in place, the same trip is expected to take around 20 minutes. The UER-II is a 76-kilometre corridor billed as Delhi's new 'outer ring road.' The expressway runs from Alipur to Mahipalpur near the airport. Built at a cost of about Rs 7,716 crore, the 4-to-6 lane highway links Mundka, Bakkarwala, Najafgarh and Dwarka. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate two major national highway projects in Delhi on Sunday, reaching the Indira Gandhi International Airport from Noida will now become much easier for commuters. The two road projects – the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) and the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway – worth a total of nearly ₹ 11,000 crore have been developed under the comprehensive plan to decongest the national capital. The new stretches are expected to vastly improve connectivity, cut travel time, and reduce traffic in Delhi and its suburbs. The two new stretches are expected to cut travel time from Noida to the IGI Airport to just 20 minutes, reported India Today. The prime minister will inaugurate four of the five packages of UER-II, along with phases three and four of the Dwarka Expressway around 12.30 PM on Sunday, reported news agency ANI. "These initiatives reflect Prime Minister Modi's vision of creating world-class infrastructure that enhances ease of living and ensures seamless mobility," the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement on Saturday.
