Express Tribune30-04-2025
Disney will premiere the first two episodes of its new animated series Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld inside Fortnite ahead of the show's official debut on Disney+ on 4 May. This move is part of a broader collaboration with Epic Games to develop a new digital experience built around Disney properties.
The episodes will be available from 2 May through a dedicated Star Wars Watch Party island in Fortnite. Viewers can also take part in themed in-game battles while watching the series. The animated anthology, led by Dave Filoni, explores criminal networks within the Star Wars universe.
Coinciding with the launch, Fortnite will debut its latest themed season, Galactic Battle, featuring new Star Wars content. Players who link their Epic Games and myDisney accounts will unlock a special stormtrooper skin and gain access to upcoming integrated experiences across both platforms.
'This is the first time Disney+ is premiering a show inside a game, launching alongside our largest Star Wars collaboration with Fortnite to date,' said Sean Shoptaw, executive vice president of Disney Games & Digital Entertainment. 'We're building the next era of digital entertainment, where fans can play, watch, create and connect.'
Epic Games president Adam Sussman echoed the sentiment: 'We are reimagining what's possible with immersive storytelling in Fortnite with one of the world's most beloved franchises.'
The expanded partnership follows Disney's $1.5 billion investment in Epic Games, announced in early 2024.
Though the full details of the planned digital universe remain undisclosed, the companies have already incorporated Marvel and Star Wars properties into Fortnite through playable characters and exclusive content.

The Fortnite Icon Series began in 2019 with Marshmello and has since expanded to include musicians, athletes, and streamers such as Ninja, Lachlan, and SypherPK. Cenat will be the latest addition, with his cosmetic bundle unveiled in full during the video package. The Kai Cenat Icon Series bundle is expected to include: Kai Cenat Outfit AMP Pickaxe Hamster Pet Companion Super Kai Emote Kai's Signature Dance Emote Mercedes AMG Vehicle with decals While most bundles in Fortnite feature back bling items, dataminers have suggested that Cenat's hamster will debut as a new 'pet companion' cosmetic type, marking the first of its kind in the game. The release coincides with Cenat's final Mafiathon event, a streaming marathon known for high-profile collaborations and celebrity appearances. Fans anticipate that the upcoming edition may also feature crossover content with Epic Games, with speculation that Cenat could host part of the stream from the developer's headquarters. As with previous crossovers, players may gain early access to the bundle through a special tournament held on the same day. Top-placing competitors are expected to earn the cosmetics for free, while Cenat may also distribute limited redemption codes during his broadcast. Once the event concludes, the Kai Cenat skin and bundle will become available for purchase through the in-game Item Shop. The release aligns with Chapter 6 Season 4, continuing Fortnite's trend of major collaborations integrated with seasonal content.

Jamie Lee Curtis TikTok video on Disney account sparks viral reaction and debate

Hollywood icon Jamie Lee Curtis has gone viral on TikTok after a video message she recorded for Disney's official account drew unexpected attention. @disneystudios A special message from Jamie Lee Curtis 💜💚 Experience Freakier Friday now playing in theaters. Get tickets. Link in bio. ♬ original sound - Disney Studios The 66-year-old actress appeared in a promotional clip for her new film Freakier Friday, a sequel to the 2003 hit Freaky Friday, co-starring Lindsay Lohan. The video was intended as a warm message to fans, coinciding with the film's global promotional push, but it quickly became a hot topic for another reason. Curtis, dressed in a low-cut denim top, surprised many younger TikTok users, who expressed shock at her bold look on the family-friendly platform. Comments ranged from 'Woah hey Jamie' to 'Why would Disney post that.' Others, however, were quick to point out that Curtis has long been recognized as a Hollywood screen siren, recalling her famous 1994 True Lies dance sequence. 'She's always been hot,' one user remarked, while another added, 'Some of y'all have never seen True Lies and it shows.' The viral moment comes as Curtis and Lindsay Lohan continue their international promotion of Freakier Friday. Earlier this month, the pair attended the Australian premiere in Sydney, reconnecting two decades after their first collaboration in the original film. According to box office reports, the sequel debuted with $29 million in the U.S. against a $42 million budget, and added $15.5 million overseas, bringing the global total to $44.5 million in its opening week. Reception has been largely positive, with Rotten Tomatoes showing a 93 percent audience score. Still, not all reactions have been favorable. TIME magazine questioned whether the sequel was necessary, prompting Curtis to push back on Instagram, writing: 'SEEMS a TAD HARSH. SOME people LOVE it. Me being one.' Just as with her viral TikTok clip, Curtis once again sparked conversation across generations.

Terence Stamp, Superman villain and ‘swinging sixties' icon, dies

LONDON: British actor Terence Stamp, who perfected the role of the brooding villain and starred in 'The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert', has died aged 87, UK media cited his family announcing on Sunday. 'He leaves behind an extraordinary body of work, both as an actor and as a writer that will continue to touch and inspire people for years to come,' media quoted the family saying. From Pier Paolo Pasolini's 'Theorem' to George Lucas's 'Star Wars', the 'swinging sixties' icon captivated audiences in both arthouse films and Hollywood with his magnetic presence, making more than 60 films during his genre-spanning career. The London actor from a working-class background, born on July 22, 1938 had his first breakthrough in the role of a dashing young sailor hanged for killing one of his crewmates. Peter Ustinov's 'Billy Budd' earning him an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe for Best New Actor. Carving out a niche for his alluring depictions of broody villains, he won Best Actor at Cannes in 1965 for his role as a psychopathic character in 'The Collector', a twisted love story by William Wyler. His 1967 encounter with Federico Fellini, who was searching for the 'most decadent English actor' for his adaptation of 'Extraordinary Stories', was transformative. The Italian director found his 'Toby Dammit', a drunken actor seduced by the devil in the guise of a little girl. And Pasolini, who cast him in the cult classic 'Theorem', saw him as a 'boy of divine nature'. In 1969, Stamp played an enigmatic visitor who seduced an entire bourgeois Milanese family. He also had a relationship with Jean Shrimpton — model and beauty of the sixties — before she left him towards the end of the 1960s. 'I was so closely identified with the 1960s that when that era ended, I was finished with it,' he once told French daily Liberation. But a dry spell did not last long, with Stamp reviving his career for some of his most popular roles, including in 1980's 'Superman II', as Superman's arch-nemesis General Zod.
