The 66-year-old actress appeared in a promotional clip for her new film Freakier Friday, a sequel to the 2003 hit Freaky Friday, co-starring Lindsay Lohan. The video was intended as a warm message to fans, coinciding with the film's global promotional push, but it quickly became a hot topic for another reason.
Curtis, dressed in a low-cut denim top, surprised many younger TikTok users, who expressed shock at her bold look on the family-friendly platform. Comments ranged from 'Woah hey Jamie' to 'Why would Disney post that.' Others, however, were quick to point out that Curtis has long been recognized as a Hollywood screen siren, recalling her famous 1994 True Lies dance sequence. 'She's always been hot,' one user remarked, while another added, 'Some of y'all have never seen True Lies and it shows.'
The viral moment comes as Curtis and Lindsay Lohan continue their international promotion of Freakier Friday. Earlier this month, the pair attended the Australian premiere in Sydney, reconnecting two decades after their first collaboration in the original film. According to box office reports, the sequel debuted with $29 million in the U.S. against a $42 million budget, and added $15.5 million overseas, bringing the global total to $44.5 million in its opening week.
Reception has been largely positive, with Rotten Tomatoes showing a 93 percent audience score. Still, not all reactions have been favorable. TIME magazine questioned whether the sequel was necessary, prompting Curtis to push back on Instagram, writing: 'SEEMS a TAD HARSH. SOME people LOVE it. Me being one.' Just as with her viral TikTok clip, Curtis once again sparked conversation across generations.

Charisma Carpenter confirms she won't appear in Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot

As anticipation grows for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, Charisma Carpenter, who portrayed Cordelia Chase in the original series, has confirmed she will not be involved in the new show. The 55-year-old actress addressed fan speculation in a recent TikTok video, stating she has not been contacted by the producers about reprising her role. Charisma carpenter is an evil Zionist. Fuck her and fuck Cordelia. Both can rot in hell. — ongo gablogian (@GirlInterrupt57) August 17, 2025 "I am not in the reboot. I am not in the pilot. I don't even know if the show has been picked up to go to series. I assume it will be," Carpenter shared. She also clarified that her new podcast, The B**h Is Back*, was not a cryptic hint about her return to the Buffy universe. "It was not intended to sound decoded in any kind of way," she explained, adding that she hasn't had any discussions with the creators about bringing back Cordelia at this point. When asked if she would notify fans if she were ever approached for the reboot, Carpenter replied with a playful wink, 'No, I would not tell you. I'd likely be under embargo and not be allowed to say anything about it.' While Carpenter won't be part of the new Buffy series, Sarah Michelle Gellar, who famously played the titular Slayer, has been active in promoting the reboot. Recently, Gellar posted a video of herself training with Ryan Kiera Armstrong, the new actress set to play the next Slayer. The duo was seen lifting weights, doing planks, and squats as part of their rigorous training routine. Meanwhile, fans are eagerly speculating about the return of other beloved characters from the original series. Some have called for Eliza Dushku's character, Faith, to make an appearance, while others have suggested a cameo from Anthony Head as Giles. However, Gellar and the show's producers have kept details of the reboot tightly under wraps, with more information expected when the pilot airs in 2026.

Cambridge dictionary adds Gen-Z lingo into its database

Find out what some of the new age terms really mean! Image background via Cambridge Dictionary has added new entries over the past year, including Gen Z and Gen Alpha slang such as 'skibidi,' 'delulu,' and 'tradwife,' its publisher announced Monday. Tradwife, a portmanteau of traditional wife, reflects a growing and controversial Instagram and TikTok trend that embraces traditional gender roles, Cambridge University Press said. The dictionary also took on the challenge of defining skibidi, a word popularised in online memes, as a term which had "different meanings such as cool or bad, or can be used with no real meaning". The gibberish word was spread by a YouTube channel called "Skibidi Toilet" and is associated with the mindless, "brain rot" content found on social media and consumed by Gen Alpha's overwhelmingly digital lifestyle. Read: 'Brat' crowned Collins Dictionary word of the year The dictionary defined delulu, derived from the word delusional, as "believing things that are not real or true, usually because you choose to". As an example, it cited a 2025 speech in parliament where Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese used the phrase "delulu with no solulu". The dictionary cited Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's use of the phrase 'delulu with no solulu' AFP/File "It's not every day you get to see words like skibidi and delulu make their way into the Cambridge Dictionary," said Colin McIntosh, Lexical Programme manager at the Cambridge Dictionary. "We only add words where we think they'll have staying power. Internet culture is changing the English language and the effect is fascinating to observe and capture in the Dictionary." Other new phrases include "lewk", used to describe a unique fashion look and popularised by RuPaul's Drag Race, and "inspo", short for inspiration. Work from home culture has given rise to "mouse jiggler", referring to a way to pretend to work when you are not. There is also "forever chemical", man-made chemicals that stay in the environment for years and have gained traction as concerns grow about the irreversible impact of climate change on the health of humans and the plant.

'Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning' ends run below $200m in Tom Cruise's final outing

Paramount's Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning has finished its domestic theatrical run just short of a major box office milestone. After nearly three months in cinemas, the film concluded with $197.4 million, narrowly missing the $200 million mark. Marketed as Tom Cruise's final performance as Ethan Hunt after nearly 30 years in the role, the film was directed by long-time collaborator Christopher McQuarrie. The project formed part of a two-film conclusion to the franchise that began with Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning. Together, both productions are estimated to have cost around $700 million, with costs rising due to the pandemic and industry strikes in 2023. Despite the scale of its release, The Final Reckoning generated a mixed response compared with its predecessor. While Dead Reckoning achieved a 96% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, The Final Reckoning settled at around 80%. Critics on the site described it as 'a sentimental sendoff for Ethan Hunt that accomplishes its mission with a characteristic flair for the impossible.' International audiences provided most of the support for the film, with $398 million earned overseas, bringing its global total to $595 million. This places the film as the fourth-highest domestic performer in the franchise, ahead of Dead Reckoning's $172 million but still below 2018's Mission: Impossible – Fallout. That entry remains the series' most commercially successful release, with $220 million domestic and $790 million worldwide. Neither Cruise nor McQuarrie has definitively closed the door on future instalments, but reports suggest the actor is turning towards more dramatic projects. He is next set to lead a film from Oscar-winning director Alejandro González Iñárritu. Meanwhile, The Final Reckoning will shift to home video following its theatrical run.
