PM Modi's 11-year tenure is 'Amritkal': Tripura CM Manik Saha
Agartala (Tripura) [India], June 10 (ANI): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha today described Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 11-year tenure as 'Amritkal', attributing the period to significant strides in development, trust, and transformational change across India.
'Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the state government is also prioritising development and innovation. During Prime Minister Modi's tenure, around 25 crore people in the country have risen above the poverty line,' Saha said.
He was addressing a press conference at the Bharatiya Janata Party's state office in Krishnanagar, Agartala, held to mark the completion of 11 years of the BJP-led NDA government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Highlighting the Prime Minister's political journey, Dr. Saha said, 'Before assuming leadership of the country, Narendra Modi served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat for more than 13 years and transformed it into a model state. After becoming Prime Minister in 2014, he took decisive steps for national development. Over these 11 years, the nation has steadily progressed. Today, people across India and the world recognise--'Modi ji hai to sab mumkin hai'. We have never seen a Prime Minister like him.'
The Chief Minister further said that PM Modi's governance focuses on Seva Sushasan and Garib Kalyan.
'From the economically weaker sections to the most marginalised individuals, he has worked to address basic problems and uplift socio-economic conditions. The government's dedication to building a developed India under his leadership is truly commendable,' he added.
Saha also spoke about the recent North East Investors Summit held in Delhi, attended by Prime Minister Modi.
'PM Modi clearly stated that India cannot be fully developed until the North East is developed. In the past, fear of terrorism kept people away from this region. But now, the Prime Minister has renamed the North East and Sikkim as Ashtalakshmi, giving special attention to this region's development. Under his leadership, around 11 to 12 agreements have been signed to restore peace and stability in the region,' he said.
The Chief Minister also referred to the Prime Minister's monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, which is aired on the last Sunday of every month to connect directly with the public.
'Through Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister brings important national issues to the forefront. Before 2014, there were serious concerns about the country's future--corruption, scams, and nepotism were widespread, and Tripura was no exception. But now, we have moved past those issues,' Saha concluded.
The press conference was attended by the BJP state president and MP Rajya Sabha Rajib Bhattacharjee, general secretary Bipin Debbarma, and Chief spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty. (ANI)

Congress has become 'fake news factory', alleges BJP
Hitting back at the Congress, the BJP on Saturday (June 14, 2025) said the opposition party has become a "fake news factory" after it attacked the Modi government for India abstaining from voting on the UN General Assembly resolution for a ceasefire in Gaza. BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari accused the Congress of spreading "half-truths" on the issue, saying India's abstention was not a deviation but a continuation of "past votes", based on "unwavering belief" in dialogue and diplomacy as the only sustainable path forward. "Congress, before unleashing theatrical outrage, should take a moment to read India's official Explanation of Vote at the UN on June 12," he wrote on X, posting a screenshot of the purported document. "The Congress and its intellectually dishonest ecosystem has become nothing but a fake news factory," he charged. The 193-member UN General Assembly voted overwhelmingly to adopt the resolution introduced by Spain that demanded an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire. India was among the 19 nations that abstained, while 12 countries voted against the resolution, which got 149 votes in favour. Reacting to the development, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said in a post on X, "It is now increasingly evident that our Foreign Policy is in shambles. Perhaps, PM Modi must now take a call on his EAM's repeated blunders and set some accountability." "Have we abandoned India's consistent stand advocating for a ceasefire, peace, and dialogue in the Middle East and West Asia?" he asked. Echoing similar sentiments, AICC general secretary, organisation K.C. Venugopal said India always stood for peace, justice, and human dignity and called on the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to explain what had changed in the last six months that led India from supporting a ceasefire to abstaining from the vote. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed her disappointment at India's stance at the UN, calling it a "tragic reversal" of the country's anti-colonial legacy. Mr. Bhandari accused the Congress of spreading "half-truths" and wrote on X, "Our abstention is not a deviation, but a continuation of past votes (A/RES/77/247 & A/RES/79/232), based on our unwavering belief in dialogue and diplomacy as the only sustainable path forward." India unequivocally condemned the loss of civilian lives and the deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza and called for the protection of civilians, humanitarian access and the release of remaining hostages, he said. Mr. Bhandari said India also reaffirmed support for a negotiated "Two-State Solution'", with Palestine and Israel coexisting peacefully within secure, recognised borders". "India has consistently provided humanitarian assistance to Gaza, both bilaterally and via the UN," he added.

Congress protests ED action in Chhattisgarh's Sukma, burns effigies
RAIPUR: The Congress party on Saturday staged protests across all district headquarters in Chhattisgarh, burning effigies of the BJP government and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The protests were held to condemn the ED's attachment of the Congress office in Sukma district. Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee President Deepak Baij criticised the ED's action, stating the agency is acting as an "associate organisation" of the BJP. He made these remarks while addressing media persons on Saturday. Baij said the ED's move was taken at the behest of the central government and the BJP, despite the Congress providing all financial details for the construction of the Sukma office. He termed the action an "attack on democracy". The City District Congress Committee in Raipur also staged a protest at Rajiv Gandhi Chowk. Congress workers gathered, raising slogans against the BJP government and the ED. A brief scuffle occurred between party workers and the police during the effigy burning.
