Tejashwi Alleges NDA MP Veena Devi Holds Two Voter IDs, Slams EC For Inaction
Tejashwi alleged that Veena Devi submitted two separate enumeration forms, bearing two different signatures during SIR process, both allegedly verified and signed off by EC. Amid the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) row, Former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav has responded to the Election Commission's claim that no political party had made any complaints and alleged that 'our BLAs and officials complain to the Election Commission every day, but they neither accept the complaints nor provide any acknowledgement." He further alleged serious irregularities in the voter list, and claimed that Veena Devi, an NDA Member of Parliament from Vaishali, of holding two separate EPIC (Electors Photo Identity Cards)—ID numbers UTO1134543 and GSB1037894—registered in two different Lok Sabha constituencies across two separate districts. He further claimed that the MP has votes in two different Assembly constituencies and that her EPIC cards show two different ages. Yadav further alleged that Veena Devi submitted two separate enumeration forms, bearing two different signatures during SIR process, both allegedly verified and signed off by the Election Commission. 'How did she end up with two different votes, two EPIC cards, two Lok Sabha constituencies, two Assembly constituencies, and two different ages in the new draft list published by the Election Commission?" Yadav questioned in his post. Labelling it a clear case of fraud, manipulation, and collusion, Yadav accused the Election Commission of favouring the BJP-NDA. He sarcastically referred to the Commission as the 'Troll Commission" and demanded accountability, asking whether the EC would now send 'two different notices from two different places" to the MP. Tejashwi Yadav also responded to EC's claim that no official complaint has been filed in the matter and said,"Our BLAs and officials complain to the Election Commission every day, but they neither accept the complaints nor provide any acknowledgement. Yet, they issue press releases daily claiming that political parties have not made any complaints." 'In lying, the Election Commission has even surpassed Prime Minister Modi. This is truly a wonder of the Election Commission. We have never seen anything like this anywhere," he further added. Earlier, the EC on Friday told RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav that it was a crime to forge and use a bogus government document and set a deadline for him to submit his 'apparently fake" Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) by August 16. The Official had earlier written to the former Deputy CM, urging him to 'hand over for investigation' the voter card which he claimed to possess despite it having been 'not issued officially'. In the latest letter, the ERO said that a perusal of the voters list for the past several years has led to the conclusion that the EC had never issued the voter card with the EPIC number quoted by Yadav. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Tempest at sea: Nayara's sanctioned cargo quietly slips into new hands
Synopsis Nayara Energy, grappling with EU sanctions, is resorting to ship-to-ship transfers to continue fuel exports. A gasoline shipment from Nayara was moved from the Tempest Dream to the Wu Tai off Oman's coast. Both vessels have faced sanctions related to the Russian oil trade. iStock Representative image One of the first cargoes shipped by Nayara Energy Ltd. after it was hit by EU sanctions has been transferred to another tanker at sea, evidence the Indian refiner is trying to keep exporting fuel. The Tempest Dream completed a ship-to-ship transfer on Thursday in the waters off Oman to move the gasoline shipment to Wu Tai, a larger tanker, according to a Bloomberg News review of ship-tracking data and satellite images. Tempest Dream then indicated that it would head back to Vadinar, Nayara's terminal in western India. The embattled refiner, which is 49%-owned by Russia's Rosneft PJSC, has found itself being shunned after it was sanctioned last month by the European Union. That's left it grappling with a lack of feedstock and has seen it cut run rates at its Vadinar refinery. Ship-to-ship transfers are a common tactic to mask the origins of cargoes, and may allow Nayara to keep exporting fuel. The waters off Oman are a popular place to do Dream was carrying more than 360,000 barrels of gasoline before the transfer on Tuesday, according to Vortexa. It's now sitting higher in the water, Bloomberg and Kpler data show, indicating that it's shed at least some of the fuel. The Wu Tai, which is used for floating storage, is now holding around 460,000 barrels, with room to take more. Fuel exports from Nayara that were already on water before the EU sanctioned the refiner on July 18 have also faced delays in finding takers. One cargo was diverted to China on Tuesday after finding a new buyer, four weeks after it was picked up from Vadinar. Tempest Dream, previously named Unite, was sanctioned by the UK for its involvement in the Russian oil trade, while Wu Tai was blacklisted by the UK and the EU for the same reason. Tempest Dream's owner is listed as Istanbul-based Tempest Maritime Services Trading on S&P's maritime database, while Wu Tai's owner is listed as Namas Maritime Inc., which is based in the Seychelles. The database did not provide contact numbers or email addresses for the email to Nayara seeking comment sent outside of business hours wasn't immediately answered.

India's next gen coal-fired power projects in limbo; Approvals pending over a year after Budget announcement
The 800 MW NTPC-BHEL advanced ultra super critical (AUSC) coal fired project is yet to get requisite approvals from the centre despite being announced in Budget 2024-25. According to submissions by the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) before the Parliamentary Committee on Public Undertakings (CoPU), follow-up meetings were held at NITI Aayog in August and December 2024 subsequent to the budget announcement. 'A draft Public Investment Board (PIB) note for approval was also submitted to the Power Ministry by NTPC with project details in March 2025,' MHI said. But there has been no progress since. 'The final approval from the Government is still awaited which is crucial for the project to move forward,' the Parliamentary Committee said. The AUSC project aims to replace aging subcritical coal plants with more efficient and environmentally friendly alternatives. The technology, developed jointly by BHEL , NTPC, and the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), completed its R&D phase in December 2020. According to MHI, the proposed Technology Demonstration Plant (TDP) is to be located at NTPC Korba in Chhattisgarh and implemented by NTPC BHEL Power Projects Private Limited (NBPPL). Expressing concerns over the delay, The CoPU expressed concern over the delay, calling the ministry's response 'interim' and urging the Ministry of Heavy Industries to 'vigorously follow up' with the Ministry of Power and other relevant departments to secure final approval. The committee emphasized the importance of the AUSC project in improving the efficiency and environmental performance of India's thermal power fleet, especially as over 130 GW of coal-based capacity is expected to cross 30 years of age by 2047. The report also highlighted broader issues facing BHEL, including procurement restrictions, delays in board appointments, and gender representation in the workforce. The committee reiterated its call for time-bound action and greater inter-ministerial coordination to ensure strategic projects like AUSC do not languish despite policy support.
