Dhami said a proposal to give 10 per cent horizontal reservation to Agniveers after they complete four years of service under the Agnipath scheme is being prepared and will soon be brought before the state cabinet for its approval.
"We are preparing to give 10 per cent horizontal reservation to Agniveers in the police, transport, forest and other government departments. A proposal in this regard will soon be brought for cabinet approval. Agniveers who complete four years of service under the Agnipath scheme will get its benefits," he said.
The horizontal reservation is a type of reservation that is provided across all categories, namely the General Category, as well as vertical reservation categories - Scheduled Tribes (ST), Scheduled Castes (SC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC).

The Centre introduced the Agnipath scheme in 2022 for short-term induction of personnel in the Army, Navy and Air Force with an aim to bring down the age profile of the three services.
The scheme provides for recruiting Agniveers youngsters between the age group of 17-and-a-half and 21 for a block period of four years with a provision to retain 25 per cent of them for another 15 years.
Several states and central forces have already taken initiative to provide reservation to Agniveers
Dhami said the state government is supportive towards soldiers and their families, and spoke of many steps taken in recent years with their welfare in mind.
The state government has increased the ex-gratia amount given to the families of the martyrs from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. The lumpsum and annual amount given to the soldiers decorated with gallantry awards has also been increased, he said.
The ex-gratia amount of Param Vir Chakra awardees has now been increased from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore, the chief minister said.
It has been decided to provide employment training in drone operation to ex-servicemen's wives and daughters as Drone Didis, Dhami said.
The government is also providing the facility of free travel to Badrinath Dham to ex-servicemen, wives of soldiers and Veer Naris who have completed the age of 60 years, he said.
The construction work of the grand Shaurya Sthal (Military Dham) in Dehradun in memory of the martyrs is in its final stage, he said.
This Military Dham contains water from 28 rivers across the state and soil brought from the homes of martyred soldiers, he said.
So far, 37 dependents of martyrs have been provided government jobs.
Under this scheme, the period for applying for a government job has also been increased from two years to five years.
Apart from free travel facility in Uttarakhand Roadways buses to gallantry award winners, serving and former military personnel are also being given a 25 per cent discount in stamp duty on purchase of permanent property worth up to Rs 25 lakh.

A government-run school for children with special needs should be started in Madurai, said a resolution of the Tamil Nadu Association for Rights of Differently abled and Caregivers. During TARATDAC's fifth Madurai district conference here on Sunday, S. Namburajan, State vice-president, TARATDAC, said that the need for a school for children with special needs, administered by government itself was essential as most of the parents with such children could not afford the exorbitant fees demanded by private schools. In addition, technical education to parents and children with special needs should be given through government institutions, he added. It would not only provide them with qualifications but also empower the parents to earn money for themselves and their children, he noted. 'The ceiling of assistance given to the guardians or parents of children with special needs should be relaxed and they should be supported with monthly assistance and a tailoring machine,' Mr. Namburajan said. 'Madurai railway station, which is currently under renovation, is being used by thousands of people from various parts of the State and the country every day. Of them, many would hundreds would be differently abled people and elders,' he noted. To facilitate seamless movement for such people, the Railway Department should ensure that ramps were made at necessary facilities, and lifts were operated for those who could not use the stairs. 'Regardless of the needs, as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, the entire infrastructure should be differently abled friendly,' he emphasized. To enhance the livelihood of people with disabilities, the district administration should consider according 5% reservation to them in government managed commercial complexes, he said. A. Balamurugan, district secretary, TARATDAC, said that under Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme, the Union government provides only Rs.300 as its share. 'As the same amount is being given for more than 10 years, it should be revised and increased to at least ₹5,000,' he added. Akin to neighbouring States like Andhra Pradesh, and Union Territories like Puducherry, Tamil Nadu government should also increase minimum monthly assistance for differently abled people to ₹6,000, and ₹10,000 for people with severe disabilities and ₹15,000 for bed-ridden differently abled people, Mr. Balamurugan noted.

Railways targets to complete these 8 Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train stations by 2027
Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project: The Ministry of Railways is working in full swing for the completion of India's first bullet train project. The 508-km-long bullet train project stretches from Mumbai to Ahmedabad. The Mumbai Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor is being implemented by the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL). The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project is being developed at a total estimated cost of Rs 1,08,000 crore. Out of these, Cumulative Financial expenditure of Rs 78,839 crore has been incurred on the project till June 30, 2025. The Ministry of Railways is targeting to complete Gujarat portion of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train by 2027. In a written reply in Lok Sabha on July 23, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, 'The Gujarat portion of the corridor between Vapi and Sabarmati is planned to be completed by Dec, 2027.' The Minister was responding to a question raised by Lok Sabha MPs Mukeshkumar Chandrakaant Dalal and Devusinh Chauhan. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor will have 12 stations. These are: Mumbai, Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Billimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad and Sabarmati. Thus, the national transporter will complete Vapi to Sabarmati section of the MAHSR corridor by December 2027. The Vapi-Sabarmati bullet train section will have eight stations – Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad and Sabarmati. Additionally, the Railways has also targeted to complete the entire MAHSR project by 2029. 'The entire project (Maharashtra to Sabarmati section) is expected to be completed by Dec, 2029,' the minister said. Earlier this month, the first breakthrough was achieved in the 21 km long tunnel being constructed between Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) and Shilphata in Maharashtra, marking the successful completion of a 27 km continuous tunnel section. Out of the total 21 km tunnel, 5 km is being constructed using the New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM) between Shilphata and Ghansoli, while the remaining 16 km will be built using Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs). K'taka BJP slams Siddarmaiah govt over shortage of fertilizers in state
The Karnataka BJP has launched attack on the Congress led government in Karnataka over shortage of supply of urea fertilizer and creating crisis for farmers in the critical cultivation phase. Speaking to the media at BJP's state office, Jagannath Bhavan in Bengaluru, N. Ravikumar, Chief Whip of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, stated: "In the past, to prevent fertilizer shortage for farmers and to avoid financial difficulties for the state government in purchasing fertilizers, a buffer stock fund of Rs 1,000 crore was set aside. However, under the current Congress government, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has allocated only Rs 400 crore for maintaining buffer stock for fertilizers. How will farmers get adequate fertilizer with such a reduced amount." Ravikumar alleged that the Congress government has failed to provide timely supply of urea fertilizer to the farmers, prompting the BJP to call for statewide protests. He pointed out that in North and South Karnataka, crops such as ragi, jowar, maize, and green gram require fertilizers. However, the state government is failing to ensure timely supply of urea. Green manure availability is low in north Karnataka, and farmers there rely heavily on urea. They are now facing severe hardship due to the shortage, he said. Due to heavy rainfall across all districts, there is a surge in crop sowing activity. Farmers are saying that if fertilizers are applied now, yields will improve; otherwise, the crops may fail. He accused the government of ignoring farmers' grievances. Thousands of farmers are lining up at fertiliser distribution centres in each taluk and district, he stated, urging the government to immediately supply urea. Ravikumar further said the Congress government failed to promote nano urea as an alternative to conventional urea. It should have created awareness among farmers to use nano urea in the absence of regular urea but it did not. The government is also not providing subsidies for the machines required to spray nano urea. Distribution of bio-fertilisers, which absorb nitrogen from the air and transfer it to the soil, has also been reduced. No aid has been given to farmers to produce green manure either. The Siddaramaiah-led government has completely neglected farmers, he charged. Cattle numbers are decreasing, and instead of supporting livestock farmers, the government appears to be helping cattle thieves. No support has been provided for dairy farming. Even the incentive for milk producers has been stopped, causing farmers to suffer even more, Ravikumar charged. Farmers are not being given quality fertilizers. Private companies are supplying substandard seeds, leading to poor crop outcomes. Despite good rainfall this season, if quality seeds and fertilizers are not provided, the sowing season will be lost, resulting in crop failure. The government has completely ignored the farmers, Ravikumar asserted. During the BJP governments led by B.S. Yediyurappa and Basavaraj Bommai, farmers were provided a total of Rs 10,000 under the Kisan Samman scheme — Rs 6,000 from the Centre and Rs 4,000 from the state. The current Congress government has stopped the Rs 4,000 state aid, doing injustice to farmers, he alleged. Regarding drought relief, he pointed out that the Centre had released Rs 3,454 crore, but not a single paisa has been spent for the benefit of farmers. The funds have been diverted for other purposes, he alleged, accusing the Congress government of betraying the farmers. BJP Kisan Morcha state vice-president Rudresh, Bengaluru North district Kisan Morcha president G.J. Murthy, and Bengaluru Central district president Rudrappa were present at the press meet.
