A 22-year-old man, said to be suffering from mental illness, allegedly slit the throats of his parents and his elder brother before bragging about it to his friends in Delhi's Maidangarhi area on Wednesday evening.
The police identified the dead as Prem Singh (50), his wife Rajani (45) and their elder son Ritik (24).
Around 6.30 pm, accused Siddharth, who is on the run, allegedly came out of his house, and told his friends that he has 'dealt' with his family and is now running away. His whereabouts have been unknown since then, police said.
'Prima facie it has emerged that he had disclosed to someone that he had murdered his family and would not live there anymore,' DCP (South) Ankit Chauhan said.
Police said that in a PCR call received around 7 pm on Wednesday, they were informed that a man had been found lying in a pool of blood inside house number 155 at Satbari Kharak village in Maidangarhi. The body was allegedly of Ritik.
'When a police team reached the spot, three persons were found dead,' the DCP said.
Police said that while Rajni's body was found on the first floor of the house, Ritik and
Prem were found dead on the ground floor. 'Prem's body was on the floor, on the foot of a single bed. Ritik was found with his throat slit on the same bed,' said an officer, adding that the murder weapon, a knife, was found squeezed on the side of Rajni's body, with blood oozing out of her neck.
During the probe, police claimed to have found documents and medication, suggesting Siddharth's prolonged treatment of OCD (Obsessive-compulsive disorder) and anger management issues.
'Documents found have revealed that Siddharth was undergoing treatment at multiple mental health institutions since the last 12 years. He was suffering from OCD and aggressive behavioural patterns. It has also come to light that he was not very fond of his family due to psychiatric issues,' the DCP said.
'Local residents claimed that the family was always worried as Siddharth would run away from home and won't return for days. He also had frequent arguments with his family and allegedly consumed drugs,' said an officer.

Stranger befriends woman at New Delhi railway station, abducts her baby — 48-hour rescue op follows

Earlier this week, a woman boarded a train from Chennai with her three-month-old baby. She was heading to Delhi to visit a relative in Anand Parbat. When she arrived at New Delhi Railway Station, she met a man who struck up a conversation — he spoke with her for over two hours to gain her trust. Claiming to be a helpful acquaintance, he offered to accompany her to her relative's house. Panicking, the woman immediately approached the police and reported her child missing. Two days later, the baby was traced to Rajasthan and safely reunited with the mother, police said. According to police, the incident took place on Tuesday. An FIR was registered under BNS section 137(2) (kidnapping) at Anand Parbat police station, and a special team was set up under the supervision of senior officers. 'The team analysed CCTV footage from about 100 cameras… The suspect was seen getting away with the baby. To identify the accused person, his pictures were also run through the Artificial Intelligence FRS software used by the Central District. The accused was identified and traced to his village in Rajasthan's Khetri. Immediately, a police team was dispatched, and the accused was arrested. The kidnapped baby was safely recovered from the accused,' said DCP (Central) Nidhin Valsan. The accused, 32-year-old Jitender Kumar, allegedly told police during questioning that a relative had persuaded him to find a baby boy, promising financial support in return, as the family had no male child. So he travelled to Delhi intending to abduct a child. Police said he lay in wait at the railway station when he spotted the woman and approached her. Police marked the child's reunion with his mother by cutting a cake alongside the investigating team and the DCP. Videos of the celebration show the baby being handed over to a visibly relieved mother. Speaking to the police team, the mother said, 'I lost my child in Delhi, but with the help of all the police uncles here, I was reunited with him. I'm very grateful for their help.'

3 Of Family Found Murdered At South Delhi Home, Younger Son Missing

Last Updated: A 22-year-old man has been missing after allegedly killing his parents and elder brother at their Delhi home. Initial probe revealed he had a history of psychiatric treatment. A 22-year-old man allegedly murdered his parents and elder brother at their residence in south Delhi's Maidangarhi area and has been missing since, news agency PTI quoted the police as saying on Wednesday. The accused, identified as Siddharth, is said to have been undergoing psychiatric treatment for nearly 12 years at various institutions. Documents and medicines recovered from the house suggested he was being treated for obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and aggressive behaviour. The victims were identified as Prem Singh (45-50), his wife Rajani (40-45) and their elder son Ritik (24). Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan told PTI that a PCR call was received around noon on Wednesday, following which a team from the Maidangarhi police station reached the house. Officers were quoted as saying that he had strained relations with the family due to his condition and had a history of behavioural issues. Meanwhile, neighbours expressed shock over the incident. Mohammad Shakeel Khan, a lawyer, said the family often had conflicts due to the father's alcoholism. 'Whether he (Siddharth) is involved in the murders or not can only be determined after a thorough police investigation," Khan said. Another neighbour, Mukesh Tiwari, described the family as 'quiet and decent" and said Siddharth had earlier run away from home a few times but always returned. Police said multiple teams were scanning CCTV footage, questioning relatives and neighbours, and coordinating with other states to trace Siddharth. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
