Amitabh Bachchan Hails S. Jaishankar On KBC 17: 'He Speaks Like An Army Officer'
Amitabh Bachchan praised External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on the Independence Day special of Kaun Banega Crorepati. On the occasion of Independence Day, Kaun Banega Crorepati offered its audience a powerful gift with a special episode titled Independence Day Maha Utsav. The show brought together three fearless women officers from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force who had played crucial roles in Operation Sindoor, a mission that dealt a strong response to Pakistan. The patriotic episode wasn't just filled with quiz questions but also with moments of respect, inspiration, and pride. One such moment came when host and megastar Amitabh Bachchan praised India's External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, drawing parallels between his commanding diplomatic style and that of an Army officer. 'Tough Talk, Like a Soldier" During a round of questions that began directly from the sixth level, the contestants were shown a picture of former External Affairs Ministers Salman Khurshid and the late Sushma Swaraj. They were then asked to identify the next minister in sequence. The officers confidently answered: Dr. S. Jaishankar. Reacting with a smile, Amitabh Bachchan admitted that he often watches Jaishankar's interviews and is deeply impressed by his manner of speaking. 'He speaks so strongly and with such authority that it feels like he could easily be in the Army," Bachchan said. This candid remark instantly became the most talked-about moment of the episode, with viewers applauding the megastar for acknowledging Jaishankar's firm and fearless presence on the global stage. Fans on social media even hailed it as proof of India's diplomatic strength and Jaishankar's growing popularity. Heroes of Operation Sindoor Adding to the patriotic fervour were the three officers who graced the stage: Colonel Sophia Qureshi (Army), known for her exemplary service during United Nations missions. Wing Commander Vyomika Singh (Air Force), celebrated for her daring spirit in the skies. Commander Prerna Devasthali (Navy), who thrives on the challenges of the sea. These officers were instrumental in Operation Sindoor, where they played decisive roles against Pakistan. Their entry was welcomed with a standing ovation from the audience and from Amitabh Bachchan himself, reflecting the immense pride the nation feels for its women warriors. A Patriotic Celebration The special episode was a blend of knowledge, inspiration, and national pride. Along with the quiz, the show featured stories of sacrifice and courage from the three officers, interspersed with patriotic songs and tributes to the tricolour. A visibly moved Amitabh Bachchan remarked, 'It is an honour for me to share this stage with these brave daughters of India on this day." More Than Just Entertainment This Independence Day special of KBC was not only about questions and answers; it was about honouring the spirit of the armed forces and reminding viewers that India's daughters are second to none—whether defending borders, flying in the skies, or navigating the high seas. It was a celebration that blended entertainment with emotion, leaving viewers inspired, proud, and deeply connected to the spirit of the nation. BTS' RM gets candid about flaws, fame and finding himself: ‘My image is an image of not being good…'
Kim Namjoon — or RM, as the world knows him — is back in front of the camera for the first time since starting his military service, and he's serving more than just visuals. In his Harper's Bazaar interview, the BTS leader peels back the layers between the grounded, introspective Kim Namjoon and the charismatic, stage-owning RM. Spoiler: both versions are equally delightful, especially when his hilariously deadpan humour takes centre stage. Kim Namjoon When asked what ideal of himself is often misrepresented, Namjoon answered with peak Namjoon energy. 'People say RM can't do that? But what is he actually good at?' His self-roast was immediate: 'Now my image is an image of not being good at sports. I can't even play foot volleyball, I can't drive, I don't have a license. I have this image at not being good at things that require coordination but surprisingly, I'm really good at skating…' Of course, he quickly caught himself. 'Well, to that extent… Other than that, not much else. And dancing, it's not that bad. That's about it.' But that's not all we got from the brooding leader of one of the influential boy band in the world. When talking about his childhood dreams versus now, the 30-year-old didn't shy away from calling it like it is: 'I like to be in the spotlight. That's the same. I don't think being an attention seeker is a wrong thing. When I was a kid, my nickname was Talk Box. I used to gather interesting stories from the internet and share them with my friends. I also liked public speaking. I really enjoyed giving presentations. I liked making people laugh. I used to want to be a comedian. So, my desire for attention is quite similar.' Namjoon also revealed the moments that make him feel most 'alive.' As RM, it's all about performing, releasing new music, and standing before fans 'with confidence and pride.' But as Kim Namjoon, it's about quiet, unfiltered joy: 'Being with people I like, without hesitation, or when I'm doing what I want in a place where no one recognises me. Travelling seems to be the closest thing to that, but honestly, I can't stay that way for long and want to come home soon. And working on music again makes me feel alive again.' Of course, ARMY won't have to wait long to see that alive-and-thriving RM on stage again. Namjoon, along with Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, Taehyung, and Jungkook, is gearing up for BTS's first album in four years next spring. The septet allegedly began working on it in the US this past July, marking their first full-group release since Proof in 2022. Their last concert, Yet to Come in Busan, wrapped in October that year.

Lee Seung-gi celebrates Korean Liberation Day while honouring family's military legacy
Lee Seung-gi received a commendation from the government for being selected as a member of a prestigious family that completed military service for three generations. Korean star Lee Seung-gi , known for his charming roles in dramas like 'Vagabond' and hits like 'Because You're My Woman', took to his Instagram Story to mark Liberation Day, or ' Gwangbokjeol ' in Korean. This day commemorates Korea's independence from Japanese colonial rule in 1945, and Lee chose it to proudly showcase his family's latest accolade. With a simple caption "8.15 Gwangbokjeol" and a photo of him at a gravesite adorned with the national flag and a shiny commendation plaque, he reminded fans why he's not just a celebrity but a symbol of duty and family values. Three generations of service Lee's family was officially recognised as a ' Byeongyeok Myeongmunga ' - a prestigious military service family. This isn't some casual award; it's an honour for households where three consecutive generations of men have faithfully completed their mandatory military duties. The plaque even lists the names of all three generations, proving their commitment. According to the Military Manpower Administration , this system selects families annually based on service records, with award ceremonies celebrating their contributions to national defence. Lee himself served in the Army's 13th Special Mission Brigade starting in February 2016, wrapping up his duties honourably. For Indian youth, think of it as a modern twist on the valor stories from our freedom fighters - families stepping up for the nation, generation after generation. From soldier to family man After his military stint, Lee didn't just rest on his laurels; he jumped back into the spotlight with music releases and acting gigs that kept fans hooked. Fast forward to April 2023, and he tied the knot with actress Lee Da-in in a beautiful ceremony that had everyone swooning. Then, in February 2024, they welcomed a baby girl, adding a new chapter to his life. Why this matters in today's world In an era where celebrities often face scrutiny, Lee's humble share stands out for its authenticity. By highlighting his family's military legacy on Liberation Day, he's sparking conversations about national service among young fans. This recognition, as per official sources from the Military Manpower Administration, underscores the value placed on such dedications in Korean society.
