EASTENDERS actor Michelle Collins has confirmed she's leaving the BBC soap later this year.
However, fans will be pleased to know the 63-year-old will only be gone for a month as she takes on a "strange" new role.

Michelle Collins is taking a month-long break from Cindy Beale

Her character Cindy Beale - who took on a prominent role in the show's 40th anniversary episodes - will exit Walford in the coming weeks.
Michelle told the Mirror at the British Soap Awards 2025: "Well I'm going off in the summer.
"I'm doing my one woman show at the Edinburgh festival, called Motorhome Marilyn.
"I don't think she's anything like Cindy. It's a play about a woman impersonator lookalike who lives in a trailer and dresses as Marilyn Monroe. But she's 60, it's kind of strange.
"It's about failure, lost dreams, and feeling like life has passed you by. She's an interesting character. I'm really excited to play it. EastEnders have let me have a month off so I'm very excited."
Michelle has kept tight-lipped about how EastEnders writers will tell Cindy's exit storyline.
Instead, she insisted Cindy is focusing on her business and won't be getting involved in a new love interest anytime soon.
However, Michelle told fans there's "fun stuff" coming up with Elaine and Cindy with George.
The actress looked incredible at the soap awards this week, which she attended with co-star Adam Woodyatt.
Michelle put on a classy display in a classic black gown and teamed it up with a leather handbag.

The soap star joined EastEnders as Cindy Beale in 1988 for a two-year stint.
She returned in 1992 for six years before taking a longer break.

She went on to say she didn't receive any formal musical training despite her school days inspiring her creative nature. "I did it all myself," she claimed at the time. "I had no famous parents, no stage school, no BRIT School." Now, Paloma admits that despite her huge success, she has no fears of being cancelled. In March, she explained that she believes her upbringing has placed her 'on the right side of ethics and morals' and that she can navigate 'cancel culture' with ease. The star believes her frank views and wild tales won't land her in trouble. She explained to The Sun in March how she avoids scandal, declaring: "I'm not worried about being cancelled at all. "I am pretty cocky about my morals and my ethics. I feel like my politics and everything I've done is OK. "I was raised by a socialist in a multicultural environment, with gay, straight, trans, drag queens, everyone, all around me." She continued: "Most people getting called out are straight white men, isn't it? They deserve it. Fans of the Liverpool based soap will remember Dylan Llewellyn as cheeky character Martin "Jono" Johnson, as he's set to appear on screens once again. Since leaving the soap in 2016, the star has appeared in a number of high profile TV shows including Derry Girls, Big Boys and Beyond Paradise. Dylan's latest venture will now see him racing across the globe with a team mate in hopes to beat his competitors, without the help of a phone or credit card. The Mirror has contacted a representative of the show for comment. Despite his TV success, Dylan previously admitted to going through a rough patch in his career. While chatting on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch, he shared his near brush with giving up acting: "I was struggling a bit and I was almost like going to give up on acting, you know?" 'And I just wasn't getting any auditions, and yeah, it was just a really quiet period and I was working in a coffee shop and just grafting because that's like the realities of acting. You've got to graft, you know, it's a really tough industry.' He revealed to the Guardian that his breakthrough role as James in Derry Girls came just in time. "It was emotional, really.
