The Malaysian Foreign Ministry, in a statement, on Sunday said efforts to confirm the identities of those affected are ongoing. "The Embassy has been in contact with Indonesian authorities from the outset and was initially informed that no Malaysians were involved in the incident. "In light of recent reports indicating that a Malaysian citizen may be among the victims, the Embassy is working swiftly with the Ministry's Consular Department and Indonesian authorities to verify the information," it said. It added that as search and rescue operations continue, the Embassy remains in close and constant communication with the relevant agencies.
