EastEnders confirms heartbreak as crisis destroys Kat and Alfie's wedding day

Metro2 days ago

The path to true love never did run smooth but EastEnders legends Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) and Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) have given this phrase a whole new meaning.
The beloved TV power couple, whose on-and-off tale of romance has captivated the nation over the past two decades, have had more obstacles thrown their way than I've had hot dinners.
From secret affairs to family troubles, Kat and Alfie have seen it all and, despite attempting to move on with various significant others over the years, they always seem to find their way back to one another.
With Tommy's (Sonny Kendall) issues with violence having escalated last year when he punched mum Kat, Alfie really stepped up to the plate and proved the supportive co-parent that Kat had always wanted him to be.
Through the worry and concern of getting Tommy the help he needed, the former flames fell in love all over again, reuniting in romantic scenes last November in front of a fireworks display.

Flashforward many months and they are perhaps stronger than ever and it seems they're ready to commit to one another all over again as Alfie gets a brainwave that sets in motion a wedding.
Alfie dreams up a fake wedding photoshoot to advertise his and Kat's new chauffeur service, confiding in Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) that he wants to ask Kat to marry him.
Linda leaves him with food for thought and, soon after, he gets down on one knee to pop the question. And Kat says yes!
However, if I were you I'd hold off on running out and buying a hat just yet because let's just say that – in typical Walford fashion! – things don't exactly go to plan. More Trending
Upcoming scenes will see Kat make a discovery on Alfie's computer that leaves her positively reeling and, soon after, it's the big wedding day – in which one thing after another leads to proceedings being derailed.
New pictures of the scenes in question see Kat looking spooked and concerned as she and Alfie have a showdown in the middle of the Square.
Will the bride-to-be say 'I do'? Will Kat and Alfie make it down the aisle? Or is this one love story that, despite their best intentions, simply won't have a happy ending?

Freddy Brazier skips brother Bobby's family birthday bash as family feud escalates

We can report how there was "sadness" over the Celebrity Race Across The World star's no-show, while Bobby spent the day with his dad. He was just four, and his EastEnders actor brother Bobby five, when their mother Jade Goody died from cervical cancer in 2009. The Big Brother legend passed away at the age of 27 with the two boys then raised by their dad. Jackiey and Jeff have clashed several times over the years before The Sun on Sunday revealed that the former Dancing on Ice contestant had taken legal action following concerns for his son's wellbeing. Now it appears the spat may have deeper implications. After Bobby turned 22 on June 2, a source told us: "Bobby celebrated his birthday with dad Jeff and step mum Kate over the weekend. 'It was a really nice family occasion but everyone really missed Freddie. "He was of course invited but he is making his feelings quite clear at the moment about who he wants to be spending time with. 'He did acknowledge that Bobby's birthday online but there was some sadness that he wasn't there with his brother.' Freddy Brazier defies dad Jeff to post new TikTok with nan Jackiey after legal action and 'weed smoking' row The Sun has gone for comment. It came shortly after Freddy appeared to take a swipe at Jeff and said: "Home is where the heart is." TIME WITH JACKIEY Earlier this week, we reported how the pair were captured in a dance video. In the clip shared on TikTok, a shirtless Freddy and his grandmother can be seen dancing around in the garden of her South London home. Inside Bobby Brazier's burgeoning TV career Bobby Brazier has risen through the ranks to become a well known face on British TV. As the son of Jade Goody and Jeff Brazier, he has been well-known amongst the public from a young age. Bobby first embarked on a showbiz career when he was just 16-years old when he started modelling. The star made his catwalk debut in 2020 at Milan Fashion Week, but it wasn't long before he had his eyes on a TV career. He shot to prominence in 2022 when he was cast as Freddie Slater in EastEnders. The incredibly acting skills displayed on screen earned him the National Television Award in the 'Rising Star' category. His famous dad was in tears as Bobby accepted the award on stage in front of the likes of Holly Willoughby and Alison Hammond. It wasn't long before BBC bosses wanted him to take part in the 21st series of Strictly Come Dancing. He clearly impressed the viewers with his dancing skills as he made the grand final and was a runner-up. Since then, viewers were delighted when he returned to his role in the long-running BBC One soap. The star simply captioned the post with hashtags, writing: '#fyp #explore #freddybrazier #jackieybudden #dancetrend.' Now Freddie has returned to the platform today with Jackiey in a slideshow video captioned: "Why don't we fall in love." He uploaded a series of individual images against the backing track to Amerie's song of the same name. It kicked off with an image showing him and Jackiey, who was donning a black vest top and cargo trousers rolled up to the knee, walking down a cobbled London street. Further snaps included ones showing him lying on the grass with a dog and playing football. LEGAL ACTION The new video comes as Freddy's TV presenter dad Jeff Brazier, 46, recently launched legal action to block Jackiey, 68, from seeing him. Despite trying to keep the duo apart, The Mail reports that Freddy spent the last week with his grandmother at her home in Bermondsey. A source told the publication: "Jeff was never going to keep Freddy away from his Nanny for very long – they've always had a strong bond. "Jeff may hate her for all sorts of reasons going back many years, but Freddy loves her very much. "They had a great time together, playing with her dog and catching up at her flat – where he has often stayed over the years. "Whatever Jeff hoped to achieve with his legal efforts, it hasn't worked." 7 Freddy has been filming TikTok videos with his gran Credit: Tiktok 7 Bobby celebrated turning 22 with dad Jeff and partner Kate Credit: Getty

Nick Frost makes strong vow about Harry Potter TV series after backlash

Nick Frost knows he's got some gigantic boots to fill – or half gigantic at least – when he plays Hagrid in the upcoming Harry Potter TV show. In April, the news broke that the comedy star, 53, was set to play the Hogwarts groundskeeper and Keeper of the Keys in the HBO show. He's joining a cast boasting more stars than a wizard's robe, including John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Professor McGonnagall, and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape. However, in a new interview, the star touched on the pressure of playing such a beloved character and made a promise to fans to put his own spin on the half-giant instead of replicating what Robbie Coltrane, who played Hagrid in the Harry Potter movies, did. Nick told Collider: 'You get cast because you're going to bring something to that. While I'm really aware of what went before me in terms of Robbie [Coltrane]'s amazing performance, I'm never going to try and be Robbie.' 'I'm going to try and do something, not 'different'' I think you have to be respectful to the subject matter, but within that, there's scope for minutia,' he continued. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'I always read Hagrid as he's like a lovely, lost, violent, funny, warm child. I think the beauty of being able to do a book a season means I get to explore that a lot more, and I can't wait. He's funny! I want it to be funny and cheeky and scared and protective and childlike. That's what I'm planning on doing.' The news that Nick was joining the Wizarding World, however, has not been without controversy. When the Shaun of the Dead star shared a picture of himself posing with a copy of the Philosopher's Stone, he found himself inundated with comments from disappointed fans who were annoyed he'd willingly associate himself with the controversial series. The Harry Potter TV show and the franchise in general have been subject to backlash following JK Rowling's comments about the trans community. The author has been criticised for expressing views that have been deemed transphobic by some. Several members of the Harry Potter movie cast have been critical of the 59-year-old author's stance on trans people, including Daniel Radcliffe, Eddie Redmayne, David Tennant, and Emma Watson. After Nick muted the post, a number of people took to social media to express their frustration with the star. @WizardingNews wrote: 'Actor Nick Frost is currently getting destroyed on his Instagram for willingly joining the cast of JK Rowling's new Harry Potter TV show reboot & tacitly supporting her irredeemable bigotry. It's so bad he disabled comments on a post holding up a Harry Potter book. Not great.' @Steeeeeeevens also claimed: 'Lmao Nick Frost turned off the comments on his Instagram post about doing the new Harry Potter show. Sorry, man, those are the lumps you gotta take when you decide to do the terf show.' 'Honestly, I am shocked by him. I genuinely had more faith in him,' X user Sam replied. Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell Despite the backlash, though, Nick made clear he's keen to get to work on the show, explaining More Trending 'I'm just so excited to get going,' he explained. 'I've gone in to do head sculpts and have your hand stand and stuff, and they say, 'Oh, have a look at this.' And you're like, 'Wow. That's the coolest thing.' 'I love films. I've loved cinema my whole life, so to be part of that universe now and that they're showing me, like, a dancing mushroom, it's like, 'That is so cool!'' The Harry Potter reboot series is currently gearing up for production, with filming expected to begin this summer in the UK. View More » The Harry Potter TV show is set for release in 2026. EastEnders actor 'shuts down' critics after BBC castmates are BOOED at Soap Awards - revealing what really happened at star-studded bash

EastEnders actor Colin Salmon has 'shut down' critics after some of his co-stars were apparently BOOED at the Soap Awards over the weekend. On Saturday night (May 31 2025), the stars of the UK's much-loved soaps gathered at the Hackney Empire in London to attend the annual star-studded bash. And it saw EastEnders stars Rudolph Walker and Angela Wynter, who play Patrick and Yolande Trueman, won Best On-Screen Partnership on the night. Some fans have taken to social media and a forum to discuss how they had apparently heard that the pair had been booed on stage as they received their gong. So Colin, who plays George Knight in EastEnders, took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to reveal exactly what happened. Colin said: 'Just want to clarify; No one was booing Rudi and Angela at the@SoapAwards we were singing RUUUDI , RUUUDI , RUUUDI. 'Which obviously confused some people. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Some fans have taken to social media and a forum to discuss how Rudolph Walker and Angela Wynter (pictured) had been booed on stage as they received their gong 'Appreciate some were concerned, as we should be, but it's all good.' '#NoDrama#WeLovePatrickandYolande @bbceastenders.' One fan wrote on Walford Web forum: 'Been hearing that Swarla fans were booing Rudolph and Angela as they went on stage. F**king sickening.' 'Can't believe Swarla fans or whatever they're called booing Angela and Rudolph and them having to do a retake on their award. Disgusting.' Another added: 'There are some tweets going about saying they were booing but now seeing mixed reports saying there was no booing.' Many fans replied to his tweet to share their thanks. One said: 'Thanks for clarifying, especially as some of us Corrie fans, who were cheering just as hard for the win, were being blamed for the non-existent booing.' 'but thank you for clarifying that down on the floor where y'all were, everyone was cheering. that's lovely to hear, congrats to you all.' Rudolph Walker and Angela Wynter, who play Patrick and Yolande Trueman, (pictured) won Best On-Screen Partnership on the night 'Thankyou for shutting the rumours down Colin xx.' 'Thank you for saying this Colin congrats on the win for Best Soap.' Rudolph Walker has played Patrick in the BBC soap since 2001. Meanwhile Angela took on the role of Yolande in 2003 and has played the character on off since then. The pair were up against some tough competition, including Coronation Street's Carla Connor and Lisa Swain (Alison King and Vicky Myers), as well as Emmerdale's Caleb and Ruby Miligan (William Ash and Beth Cordingly) and Hollyoaks' Dillon Ray and Lucas Hay (Nathaniel Dass and Oscar Curtis). EastEnders left its rivals in the dust as the show took home eight gongs at the British Soap Awards. Meanwhile Hollyoaks received three, Emmerdale two and Coronation Street only got one. They kicked off their wins with Best Episode which went to Phil's Psychosis: The Mitchells In 1985. EastEnders also won Scene of the Year for Angie Watts' Shock Return while Navin Chowdhry won Best Villain for his role of Nish Panesar. Steve McFadden, who plays fan favourite Phil Mitchell, won the Best Dramatic Performance award while Patsy Palmer won Best Comedic Performance for her role as Bianca Jackson. Rudolph Walker & Angela Wynter (Patrick & Yolande Trueman) delivered another win for EastEnders as they won Best On-Screen Partnership. Lacey Turner, who plays Stacey Slater, won the Best Leading Performer Award and EastEnders also won the most coveted award of all: Best British Soap.
