Zoe Ball broke down in tears after falling victim to horrible crime live on air

Daily Record2 days ago
BBC Radio 2 presenter Zoe Ball opened up about a devastating break-in which happened while she was appearing on The One Show.
Zoe Ball revealed she was left in tears last week after discovering her car had been broken into, shortly after appearing on The One Show. The 54-year-old BBC Radio 2 presenter opened up about the upsetting incident, admitting she felt partly to blame for leaving a bag visible on the front seat.

Speaking about the incident with her Dig It podcast co-host Jo Whiley, Zoe recalled: "Someone had smashed the front window of my car, that's never happened to me before."

Initially, she said she felt "a bit frozen" as she tried to process the shock and figure out what happened, and what to do next, the Mirror reports.

Thinking quickly, Zoe then found a festival-themed poncho in her car, which she used to cover the broken window.
She shared: "I wrapped it around the smashed door [and] slammed it tight and was like, 'Right, okay, I'm probably going to have to drive from London to Brighton at 30 miles an hour'."

Despite the setback, Zoe said she managed to pick up speed, though she recalled her surroundings feeling "very loud." During the journey home, the radio presenter decided to listen to her podcast partner's radio show which was followed by Bob Harris' show.
"I've never heard the country show quite so loud in my ear," she joked, expressing her gratitude to the team for helping her get home safely.

Reflecting on the incident, Zoe admitted the break-in might have been avoided had she not left her bag visible on the front seat.
"I'm not very practical," she confessed. "Sometimes when things like that happen, I'm like, 'Right, oh yes, what do I do? I don't have any masking tape'. Anyway, they didn't get anything valuable, so it was fine."
When asked if the incident had left her feeling down, Zoe admitted: "I got in and I had a massive cry. Do you know what I did? I did a stupid thing, I was so busy running into The One Show with my suits and my bag and everything."

"And we were going to do a picture with our Spotify picture [team], which was amazing, and I left a bag on the front seat. Big no, no in London, idiot. Luckily nothing in it except my diary."
Looking back on how she reacted, she joked: "It was good, I love a big blub. The ones where you wake up in the morning and your face is a bit swollen and you're like, 'Well I'm glad I got that out'."
In response, Jo offered her support and revealed she'd experienced a similar incident in London.
"Just a boy on a bike just literally snatched it from my hand," she told Zoe, before continuing, "And then you having something [happen] like this, it's just so disappointing that people would do that to another person."

The One Show's Alex Jones fights back tears as husband Charlie Thomson makes surprise appearance live on air

Alex Jones was left visibly emotional as her husband Charlie Thomson made a surprise appearance on The One Show on Friday. The Welsh presenter, 48, celebrated an incredible 15 years on the BBC's flagship early-evening programme with a special anniversary episode - but was caught completely off guard by the heartfelt moment. Towards the end of the show, co-hosts Roman Kemp, 32, and Richard Osman, 54, shocked Alex by welcoming her husband of 10 years onto the famous green sofa. Clearly stunned, Alex looked lost for words as Charlie walked in holding a beautiful bouquet of flowers. The couple embraced warmly, sharing a kiss before sitting down together. Roman asked Alex: 'Is it weird seeing him on the sofa?', still emotional, she replied: 'It's very weird, it's weird being this side. She continued: 'It's weird being next to you. You're normally in the garden, building the treehouse now.' When asked how he felt about his wife's milestone, Charlie shared: 'I'm extremely proud, not just from what she's achieved here but also with the family at home. 'Balancing those two has been amazing and keeping it tide over at different times. Covid period, always there.' Fighting back tears, Alex added: 'I couldn't do it without this man at home who keeps everything running while I'm here and sorts out the children and bedtime while I'm here.' She went on: 'And mum and dad and the family and friends at home who keep my feet on the ground - Everybody here as well and our viewers who've put up with me for 15 years - thank you.' Earlier this week, Alex reflected on her journey with the show, telling the BBC: 'I feel incredibly proud to have been on the iconic sofa for all these years. 'It certainly doesn't feel like 15 years, and it still feels fresh, as the show keeps evolving. I feel like we keep coming back better and better. 'I started as a young girl, and I feel like I've grown up with our viewers. They have seen me through all my big life moments, like getting engaged and married, to having children. Our viewers are like extended family by now!' Alex and Charlie married in 2015 and share three children - Edward, Kit, and Annie. Last year, the presenter opened up about a 'rough period' in their relationship when Charlie was battling Lyme disease and viral meningitis. Speaking on Gabby Logan's podcast The MidPoint, Alex said that he is 'in a much better place now' but was a 'shadow of himself' as he suffered with his mental health over the illness. She said: 'It's my husband's own story to tell, so I won't go into detail, but he suffers with his mental health, 'And we've just been through a really bad period where, bless him, he had Lyme Disease and then he had viral meningitis. Lots of things happened recently.' The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.

Coronation Street's Carla reels over Ryan's unexpected admission before Lisa proposal

A Coronation Street spoiler video has revealed the moment Ryan Connor throws his aunt Carla Connor with a comment about her planned proposal to Lisa Swain on the ITV soap There's panic for one Coronation Street resident next week as they plan the ultimate proposal for their partner. A relative's admission about how big the gesture could be leaves Carla Connor reeling. ‌ With her planning on proposing to her partner Lisa Swain that same week, her ideas are left in array when Ryan's assumption about how it will go down leaves his aunt stumbling. It seems they have very different ideas about what the proposal will look like. ‌ It comes as spoilers reveal Carla plans to propose to Lisa in The Rovers next Friday, wanting the engagement ring dropped in a glass of champagne. Prior to the proposal day, Carla is thrilled when the ring finally arrives and is delivered to her new home with Lisa and Ryan. ‌ Ryan is equally buzzing over it all, having been let in on Carla's secret plan the day prior. Carla turns to her nephew as she discusses her plan to pop the question, months on from Lisa initially asking Carla to marry her. When Carla suggested the timing wasn't right, they both agreed it wasn't what they wanted. But months on and Carla is ready to return the favour, this time with her doing the asking. ‌ Lisa has no idea what's going on, as the preview clip shows the moment Carla shows Ryan the parcel containing the ring. He's excited for Carla, as he asks her if it's what he thinks it is. With it all becoming real, Carla grins as she shares her nerves over what she's planning, admitting she's never given anyone an engagement ring before. Ryan teases her about her romantic past before reassuring her that all will go well. ‌ Pointing out that Lisa had already asked her earlier in the year, Carla shares her worry that since then she may have changed her mind. But Ryan is on hand to remind her how much Lisa loves her, just as the detective walks through the door - preparing for her first day off desk duty. Spotting the parcel, Lisa questions Ryan about it and he has to think on his feet - pretending he's ordered some pants online. Carla's nervous that Lisa will figure out what's going on but manages to get her to leave the room. It's then that Ryan makes a comment that leaves his aunt clearly panicked. Assuming Lisa would want Carla to go all out with a big romantic gesture with the proposal, he comments on her getting down on one knee and making a fuss. Carla laughs this off making it clear she hasn't got that in mind, not expecting Lisa to want it either. When Ryan comments that "no woman ever" would say no to a fuss-filled proposal, Carla's visibly thrown and no doubt left questioning if her own ideas are good enough - but will she alter her plan? Holidaymaker's insane sprint to poolside to claim seven sunloungers with towels

The man was filmed as he sprinted from his spot at the pool to claim seven sunloungers all next to each other with towels to reserve them before returning to his room. This is the moment a determined holidaymaker dashes to the pool to claim seven sun loungers at once. ‌ The daily scramble for sunbeds at holiday resorts worldwide is nothing new, with seasoned sun-seekers knowing the early bird catches the best spots. However, what's surprising in a clip from Tenerife is the speed at which one man managed to reserve seven loungers with towels. ‌ Jeff Hunter, from Northern Ireland, shared his astonishment as he watched the man sprint towards the most coveted sunbeds at the hotel. ‌ The 36 year old claims that after securing all seven loungers, the man retreated to his room. Set to the soundtrack of the Chariots of Fire theme tune, the tourist, clad in shorts, burst into view and, upon reaching the beds, sidestepped to lay out the towels. This follows a Brit abroad criticising all-inclusive hotel food, asking 'what on earth is this?, reports the Mirror. ‌ What was perhaps most surprising was that after marking his territory, the man didn't return. Jeff, a chef, spent the morning by the pool, and an hour later, the man still hadn't returned to his reserved spots. The peculiar footage was captured at Parque Santiago III in Tenerife. The three-star hotel, costing around £131 per person per night, is the latest resort to witness the summer holiday sunbed wars. ‌ Jeff described the tourists' behaviour as "insane" after disclosing there were "hundreds" of available beds by the pool when the incident occurred on August 7. "I just think it's all a bit insane," Jeff from Northern Ireland, told Luxury Travel Daily. "There are hundreds of beds available, but he is dead set on getting the same ones every day. I personally don't mind as long as I can get a bed. "I don't know the guy. "He got seven beds and then went back to his room. "He still wasn't using them an hour later when I left. "We have been queuing from around 8:30 am for the pool opening at 9 am. He is always already there when we arrive, and from around 8:55 am, he stands in a runner's stance. "It's the same every day. It's an amazing hotel - just a nightmare in the mornings. "This follows last year when a young couple, who recorded themselves creeping down to their hotel pool at 1am to secure the prime spot, claimed holiday sunbed battles were spiralling out of control at their resort. Aimee Millar, 20, revealed she and her boyfriend had begun sneaking from their room during the night to claim the top sunbeds after discovering other guests were employing the same tactics." In the hotel we stayed at, if we didn't get those certain sunbeds we would've had to pay €7.50 (£6) each for a bed," said Aimee, who was holidaying in Albufeira, Portugal. "As much as it was crazy we didn't mind doing it at 1am as we were staying up later anyways. ".
