He said the band, formed in 1957 by John McNally and Mike Pender, "tried to retire a few years ago, but they just won't let us". "We've done four final tours and we've actually discovered the fun about it again," Allen said. "We said no more, unless something important comes up that we can't turn down."McNally said the band thought it was a joke when they heard they had been asked to play the festival. "Of course we said yes," he said. He said the key to having a successful career in music was to keep finding the fun in it. "You've got to have a laugh on stage," McNally said.

Amelia Dimoldenberg reveals the A-list star who was her 'dream' Chicken Shop Date and opens up about her flirty encounter with Andrew Garfield
has revealed the A-list star who was the 'dream' guest on her hit show, Chicken Shop Date. The presenter, 31, has interviewed a number of stars including Jennifer Lawrence, Billie Eilish and Ben Stiller on her show, which sees her go on a 'date' with celebrity in fried chicken restaurants. Speaking to Porter about her work on the show, Amelia reflected on interviewing F1 star, Damson Idris - which went viral when fans obsessed over their 'flirty banter'. The encounter won Amelia over too, as she mused: 'The dream date, really. So charming – deliciously so. 'I love it when the guest flirts back and leans into the idea of it being a date. He definitely understood the assignment.' Amelia also reflected on her 'dates' with other stars - thanking Jack Harlow for helping her break America with their 2022 chat, while admitting her Louis Theroux interview was a 'pinch me' moment. She also revealed the stars she is desperate to have on, calling for Nathan Fielder, Miss Piggy, Skepta and Giggs. Amelia then reflected on the interview that sent the internet into meltdown - her chat with Andrew Garfield in 2024. The presenter welcomed the newly-single Spiderman legend as the duo discussed various topics, including the 'couple of lovely interactions' they previously had. Fans had already been sent into a frenzy when Andrew was announced Amelia's next spicy date, with many fans fuelling romance rumours after their 'off the charts' chemistry at the GQ Men Of The Year awards and then Golden Globes. The duo had gone viral after clips of the pair outrageously flirting at the ceremonies was shared on social media. During their chat, the actor noted the 'two meet-cutes' had been 'vibey' but things took a more interesting turn when Amelia asked him a difficult question. The English comedian asked Andrew a Snog, Marry, Avoid question between Tom Holland, Toby Maguire and herself. 'This is unfair!', the Hollywood heartthrob quipped. 'I'd avoid you because I can't do that to either of those guys.' 'I can do it to you -' Andrew said before assuring: 'This is calling flirting, Amelia! This is called flirting!' Amelia also revealed the stars she is desperate to have on, calling for Nathan Fielder, Miss Piggy, Skepta and Giggs to join her for a date in a chicken shop Reflecting on the response to the video - which has racked up 12 million views on Facebook - she confessed: 'The hysteria [that came] from that I would not have predicted.' Comparing the amount of messages she received as the ones she'd expect to receive if she got engaged, she added: 'You're getting all these messages and you just kind of want to put your phone away.' Amelia previously addressed the Andrew romance rumours in a chat with The Sunday Times Style Magazine, admitting she thinks he is 'great'. She told the publication: 'We're friends. I saw him at the Oscars and he's a great guy, a great person. We've got such a great dynamic.' Amelia, who has 3.17million subscribers to her YouTube channel, 4million followers on TikTok and 2.7million on Instagram, is reportedly in talks to land a huge deal with Apple to make her first standalone TV show. During the new show, the comedian will reportedly bring a number of stars on and chat with them in a similar format that she already does. A TV insider told The Sun that it was only time before a streamer picked-up Amelia as she continues to have success hosting her show. The source said: 'Apple knows it will have a ready-made audience for her show, which is expected to drop on the streamer later this year or early 2026. 'Amelia also has a long list of famous fans who've been clamouring to get interviewed by her. 'It's not clear yet exactly what format any new Apple show would take, but it's guaranteed to continue in a similar vein to her previous work which sees her casually and naturally meeting with some of the world's most famous people. 'It was only a matter of time before one of the streamers came along and harnessed her huge social media influence.'

CMAT ‘did not sleep' and felt ill before Glastonbury set on the main stage
Irish singer CMAT has said she 'didn't sleep' and felt 'ill' in the days leading up to her performance on the main stage at Glastonbury Festival. The musician, real name Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, 29, played songs from her back catalogue, as well as singles from her forthcoming third studio album Euro-Country, when she took to the Pyramid Stage in June. Advertisement She told BBC Radio 6 Music: 'It's worth noting that the two days beforehand, I was acting like someone who was about to go into war. CMAT performing on the Pyramid Stage during the Glastonbury Festival (Yui Mok/PA) 'I was shaking with the fear. I couldn't talk to anyone, I didn't sleep, like I was ill. 'I was so, so scared. I was so scared for the Pyramid Stage. 'I kind of just kept throwing my head in my hands, and like screaming and being like, 'Why did they let me do this?' Advertisement 'And then by the time I walked on stage, the feeling, the first thought that occurred to me was, 'Oh my God, I'm so relieved that this is about to be over, because I don't have to be scared of it anymore'. 'And then, actually, weirdly, because I had had that thought, I was like, 'Oh, I can just enjoy myself, because it's about to be over and not in front of me anymore'. She added: 'Because of that, I actually did enjoy myself, and we were really well rehearsed. And it just felt amazing. It was amazing. 'It was a weird thing walking out, though, because someone was like, 'Oh, you should get about 20,000 people at that time'… and I walked out, and I've seen 20,000 people before, and I was like, I don't know, I don't know what this is. I've never seen this wall (of people). They just kept going.' View this post on Instagram A post shared by BBC Radio 6 Music (@bbc6music) She said: 'When I stepped off the stage, I was a bit shocked, and I was a bit winded, because the weight of everything came down on me as I was stepping down, and I literally curled up in a ball behind the sofa in my dressing room and made my sister close the door and was like, 'No one can look at me for five to 10 minutes.' 'And I just literally curled up in a ball and I didn't talk to anyone for like 10 minutes.' Towards the end of her set on the Pyramid Stage, CMAT waded into the crowd to sing her popular song Stay For Something and chanted 'Free Palestine' in reference to sustained Israeli strikes in Gaza. Advertisement She later performed a secret set at the BBC Introducing stage. CMAT released her debut album, If My Wife New I'd Be Dead, in 2022, and followed it up with Mercury Prize-nominated Crazymad, For Me in 2023. In July, the BBC denied editing out Irish language that features as part of the pop singer's new single, Euro-Country, when it was played on BBC Radio 1 for the first time. Her third studio album is set for release on August 29th. Advertisement

Iconic American rock legends announce two surprise reunion shows at Wembley Stadium in 2026 - four years after their last UK performance
My Chemical Romance have announced two surprise shows at Wembley Stadium - the band's first UK shows in four years. The American EMO rockers will perform at the London venue in 2026 after adding the dates to their Long Live The Black Parade Tour, originally announced last year as an eleven date tour of north America. They will now perform additional shows in Mexico City and London, with the Wembley gigs expected to take place next summer between July 10th and 11th. British fans discovered the band will perform in the capital city in a post shared across its official social media channels on Monday morning. Tickets will go on sale from 10:00am on Friday August 15, with the UK shows their first since 2022, when the band staged shows initially cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic in Milton Keynes and Warrington. My Chemical Romance, comprised of lead vocalist Gerard Way, bass guitarist Mikey Way, rhythm guitarist Frank Iero and lead guitarist Ray Toro, are widely considered to be one of the most influential bands of the 2000s. Over the course of the decade they released four albums, with their last - Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys - selling over a million copies globally following its release in 2010. The group disbanded in 2013, but reunited for a one-off show in 2019 and subsequently announced a reunion tour to take place the following year, only for the sweeping coronavirus pandemic to push it back for a further two years. After returning to the stage in 2022, they released The Foundations of Decay, their first new song since 2014. On Sunday evening, Wembley Stadium's official X account preempted the announcement by sharing a cryptic post of the venue's iconic arch illuminated in red neon. Last year, the band confirmed it would celebrate the anniversary of career-defining 2006 rock opera The Black Parade with a series of north American shows. However they suffered tragedy in November when drummer Bob Bryer was found dead at his Tennessee home, resulting in the band playing only two shows that year. The US leg of their current kicked off July 11 in Seattle and concludes on September 13 in Tampa, Florida. Along the way it will also include shows in San Francisco; Los Angeles; Arlington, Texas; East Rutherford, New Jersey; Philadelphia; Toronto; Chicago and Boston. The band will travel to Mexico City for two shows on February 13 and 14 2026 before flying to London for two final shows later in the year. Each date features a different opener, from veterans like Alice Cooper and Devo to alternative rock contemporaries like Evanescence and Thursday, as well as newer talent, like 100 Gecs and Wallows. The Black Parade cemented the band's shift from mainstays of the EMO scene to mainstream recognition and turned them into one of the most inventive bands of the 21st century.
