Playful Blush And Juicy Lip Oils: Dior Unveils New Backstage Make-Up Collection
This was the driving force behind Christian Dior's Backstage Collection which launched to great fanfare in 2018, giving us a taste of backstage beauty favourites and the formulas that not only withstand the runway but speak to the beauty zeitgeist, whether that's glossy, high-shine textures or bold, forward-thinking trends.
The first was a face and body foundation that withstood bright lights and maintained a luminous glow that centred upon skin health rather than the concealing, caking and covering that was monopolising at the time. Years later and Dior has unveiled a new make-up collection that speaks to a growing trend for playful, juicy textures. Fronted by Jenna Ortega - who is the new face of the new collection - the latest make-up spans a glossy lip oil, an innovative powder blush, and a unique glow-enhancing stick, which all feature in a series of fun, ebullient colours.
'The concept of the Backstage Collection was to apply the expertise that you find backstage to make-up – think of it as a professional make-up artist giving you all the tools to apply your make-up at home.' shares Peter Philips, Christian Dior's Creative and Image Director. 'This new collection is far more delicious, and playful than anything we've built before,' he adds.
The three-part collection is a nod to social media's fascination with glossy, glass skin textures and a resurgence of vibrant colour within make-up. The first is a Rosy Glow Stick which Philips explains reacts to the natural pH in your skin (resulting in either cool pink or warm coral undertones) and creates a beautiful wash of bespoke colour and a luminous glow.
Dior has also expanded its lip range with a millennial-friendly Lip Glow Butter – this isn't the sticky, high-shine gloss of old, however; it's infused with skin-boosting peptides and nourishing squalane for long-lasting hydration. Finally - and already a firm favourite among the ELLE UK beauty team - Backstage Rosy Glow leaves a soft matte finish to skin, but unlike its counterparts, the formula adds a wash of colour that's hydrating and smooth.
'The Lip Glow Butters and blushers all react to your own pH; the aim here is to have a collection that's truly yours and a unique and personal formula for everyone,' shares Philips.

Kendall Jenner Styles Hailey Bieber's Favorite $1,250 The Row Bag With Capris
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Paris is the new Los Angeles—at least until June 29. Hollywood's finest have descended on the City of Lights for Paris Men's Fashion Week to see collections from Dior's Jonathan Anderson, Dries Van Noten's Julian Klausner, and Loewe's Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. Stars like Beyoncé, Lila Moss, and most recently, Kendall Jenner have exchanged California-cool attire for their best French girl 'fits. On June 24, Jenner dressed for the front-row, even though she was just grabbing dinner. She styled the anti-shorts trend of the summer: capris, her knee-length pants skin-tight and high-waisted (non-negotiables for her close friend and fellow capri enthusiast, Hailey Bieber). On top, Jenner chose a long-sleeve wrap top from Jacquemus, which provided an elevated take on the classic white crop top (a model must-have). She continued her The Row streak with Vika Leather Ankle-Strap Sandals, spotlighting the $1,100 kitten heels also included in "Kendall's Edit" for FWRD. View Deal View Deal View Deal Jenner's purse was a more on-the-nose homage to Bieber. She carried The Row's Cecily Top-Handle Bag, the same silk style worn by the Rhode founder on June 21. Bieber similarly paired the $1,250 tote with knee-length capris. However, her Paloma Wool leggings tapped into the polka-dot renaissance. Though she was photographed in New York City, Bieber's black tank top and Toteme flip-flops evoked a certain French girl flair. View Deal Alongside Bieber, Jenner is one of The Row's most committed customers. She owns over ten bags from the Olsen-led label, including the popular Marlo, Nuance Hobo, Terrasse, Park, and Idaho silhouettes (many of which have a starring role in Bieber's wardrobe). The Cecily, specifically, has joined her in LA, Paris, and even at a New York Knicks game. In April, the model sat court-side with her sister, Kylie Jenner and her boyfriend Timothée Chalamet to watch the NBA Playoffs. Few bags can sartorially shape-shift as well as The Row Cecily. If it's suitable for a basketball game, a five-star dinner, and a night out in NYC, it's certainly worth the splurge.
