Install solar rooftops, save on power bills: MLA Sunitha

Hans India8 hours ago

Raptadu: Raptadu MLA Paritala Sunitha urged residents to adopt PM Surya Ghar Yojana to reduce electricity bills by installing rooftop solar panels. At a review meeting with electricity department officials in Anantapur on Saturday, she focussed on effective scheme implementation. Sri Sathya Sai district electricity SE Sampath Kumar and other officials attended.
Sunitha emphasised raising awareness among households about the scheme and directed officials to identify homes suitable for solar installations. She also advocated installing solar panels on government buildings, schools, and colleges to maximize long-term benefits. The MLA highlighted that a 1 kW rooftop system, requiring just 10 square meters of space, could lower monthly electricity bills from over Rs 1,000 to around Rs 338 for households using 120 units.
Under PM Surya Ghar Yojana, the Central government provides 60% subsidy for 2 kW systems and 40% for additional costs on 2–3 kW systems, offering up to Rs 78,000 in financial assistance for systems up to 3 kW. Sunitha noted that families could generate their own electricity and earn income by selling surplus power.
She announced that mandal-level awareness programs will soon be launched across the constituency to boost participation.
The MLA stressed that the scheme offers a significant opportunity to ease the burden of rising electricity costs while promoting sustainable energy practices.

According to an official release, the ED under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) of 2002 attached assets, including seven immovable properties, comprising around 35 acres of residential and commercial land, located in Gurugram 's Sector 68, 63A, 103, 104, 92, 88B, and 95. Additionally, Fixed Deposit Receipts (FDRs) amounting to around Rs 97 lakh, belonging to various companies, have also been attached. The ED initiated the probe based on FIRs filed by Gurugram Police against M/s Sai Aaina Farms Pvt. Ltd. and others under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) related to cheating and forgery . As per the release, the companies allegedly submitted forged documents, including fake bank guarantees, to obtain licenses for internal and external development works connected to affordable housing projects in Sectors 68, 103, and 104 of Gurugram. Over Rs 616 crore was collected from nearly 3,700 homebuyers, but the promised homes were not delivered, and the funds were allegedly misappropriated. The ED investigation revealed that the company siphoned off funds by inflating construction costs through fake invoices issued by associated entities. The money was diverted for personal gains by the company's directors and promoters, and sums from home buyers were transferred as loans to other group entities, which remain unpaid for years. Another key accused, Dharam Singh Chhoker, who had evaded arrest for over a year despite six non-bailable warrants, was arrested on May 5. Vikas Chhoker remains absconding, and a proclamation has been issued against him by the Special Court in Gurugram. Further investigation is underway.

Gold rate outlook: Gold prices likely to stay under pressure as investors eye key US macro data, say analysts

Gold rate outlook: are expected to remain subdued next week as investors await crucial US macroeconomic data, which may offer fresh signals on the Federal Reserve's stance on interest rates, analysts said. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Improving risk appetite and easing geopolitical tensions have reduced investor interest in traditional safe-haven assets like gold, pushing them towards riskier assets such as equities. The US Federal Reserve's cautious tone on rate cuts has also weighed on gold sentiment. Fed Chair Jerome Powell, in his testimony last week, said rate cuts were possible but not imminent, prompting a global recalibration of gold holdings, according to PTI. On Friday, gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) fell sharply by Rs 1,563 or 1.61% to close at Rs 95,524 per 10 grams. Jateen Trivedi, VP Research Analyst - Commodity and Currency at LKP Securities, said fading geopolitical concerns, especially in the Middle East, are diverting investors towards equities. He expects gold to trade in the Rs 93,000–97,500 range on the MCX and between USD 3,175–3,325 in international markets in the coming week. 'The movement will largely depend on key US macroeconomic indicators such as unemployment data, non-farm payrolls, and the ADP employment report,' Trivedi said, adding that any geopolitical surprise could shift market sentiment, PTI quoted. NS Ramaswamy, Head of Commodities & CRM at Ventura, said gold has failed to breach the USD 3,300 level overseas. 'The safe-haven appeal has diminished and the only support currently is a weaker dollar,' he noted. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Ramaswamy added that the dollar index has not received strong support despite the US-China deal. However, gold could see a positive boost if reciprocal tariffs are postponed beyond the July 9 deadline. 'While there is no clear consensus on a rate cut in July, expectations remain skewed towards easing, which lends some support to gold,' he said. 'Falling oil prices have also eased inflation concerns and lifted risk sentiment, further eroding gold's appeal as a hedge.' With limited upside triggers and most factors turning bearish, gold prices are likely to remain under pressure unless the dollar weakens significantly or the Fed signals a major policy shift, he added
