Celtics' Jayson Tatum reportedly recruiting 9-Time All-Star to Boston
According to Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe, Jayson Tatum is playing a significant role in recruiting Lillard to the TD Garden. Tatum is also out due to an Achilles tear, but it would appear that he's already planning for his return to the rotation, either toward the end of the 25-26 season or at the start of the 26-27 campaign.
'Damian Lillard remains a free agent but is considering his options, and the Celtics are indeed one of them,' Washburn wrote. 'According to NBA sources, Tatum has been active in recruiting Lillard to Boston, and the market for the point guard is limited because his injury will prevent him from likely playing most of next season. Lillard sustained his injury on April 27, 15 days prior to Tatum's injury.'
Lillard, 34, spent two seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks, but was unable to taste the success he craves. During his tenure with the franchise, he averaged 24.6 points, 7 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game, shooting 43.4% from the field and 36.4% from deep.
Despite his undoubted talent, Lillard would need to adjust his play style in order to fit with the Celtics. He wouldn't be able to dominate touches and usage rate, as he would likely be the third option behind Tatum and Jaylen Brown. As such, it would be interesting to see whether he could sacrifice some of his own offense if it meant contending for a championship. Celtics fans will undoubtedly be hoping they can find out the answer to that question.

LeBron James greeted Lakers coaches, took photo with teammates on Monday
A post shared by NBA (@nba) There is a lot of noise these days that LeBron James and his camp are unhappy with the Los Angeles Lakers and that it is just a matter of time before he asks to be traded. That noise has stemmed from a cryptic statement his agent, Rich Paul, made on June 29 when he decided to exercise the player option on his contract for this coming season. There is a very real chance that all this talk is nothing more than people running away with a couple of parts of Paul's statement and that there are no real hard feelings between James and the Lakers. He has been in attendance for their last couple of summer league games, and on Monday, he shook hands with several members of their coaching staff, as well as Rob Pelinka, their general manager. The superstar also took a photo with teammates Jake LaRavia, Jarred Vanderbilt, Austin Reaves, Jaxson Hayes and Deandre Ayton. #LakeShow in Vegas supporting the Summer squad 👏(📸: @NBA) It is very possible that Paul's quote merely put the Lakers on notice that James wants to win his fifth championship as soon as possible, and that if doing so isn't realistic, the door is open to James asking for a trade as a last resort. But as usual, people will make all types of speculation about James, especially given how polarizing and passive-aggressive he is.

Celtics' Brad Stevens Makes New Al Horford Statement After Warriors Report
Celtics' Brad Stevens Makes New Al Horford Statement After Warriors Report originally appeared on Athlon Sports. All indications are that Al Horford is as good as gone for the Boston Celtics. Since the offseason started, the 39-year-old big man has been linked to the Golden State Warriors. Marc Stein and Jake Fischer reported on July 12 that those around the NBA believe Horford will sign with the Warriors. Advertisement "Numerous rival teams continue to regard Golden State as the overwhelming favorite to sign both Al Horford and Melton," they wrote. Horford's second tenure with the Celtics has lasted from 2021 to 2025. This offseason marked the first time he has entered unrestricted free agency since 2019, when he coincidentally also left the Celtics, but for the Philadelphia 76ers. While listing all of Boston's departures, he included Horford, who technically hasn't signed yet. Advertisement "It's hard to see Jrue go. It's hard to see Kristaps go, Luke, Al," Stevens said. "It's just been unbelievable people to have in our group and have added value... I know when they come back to Boston this year, it'll be pretty special, the tributes to all of them." Technically, Stevens didn't confirm that Horford was going to the Warriors, but he confirmed that the big man won't be back with the Celtics for the 2025-26 season. Grant Hill puts Jamal Crawford in a special category: "He's your favorite player's favorite player"
Grant Hill puts Jamal Crawford in a special category: "He's your favorite player's favorite player" originally appeared on Basketball Network. Grant Hill can't hide his admiration for Jamal Crawford. As someone who's played with and against the game's elite, Hill has a sharp eye for what makes a player different. According to the Hall of Fame forward, Crawford fits the bill. Advertisement "Jamal is one of my favorites and he knows it. He's one of my favorite players," Hill told Dan Patrick on "The Dan Patrick Show." "I always say Jamal's your favorite player's favorite player. He's that guy. He's that guy that KD, LeBron, Steph, I mean, guys like that. They see him and like, 'Man, he is just unreal.'" Student of the game Crawford earned the respect of his peers — Hill included — because of his unreal handles and smooth jumper. Despite not having an All-Star appearance in his resumè, the legendary guard won the Sixth Man of the Year award three times, establishing himself as one of the best off-the-bench players in the history of the NBA. That said, Crawford did not develop his skills overnight. Hill watched him study basketball religiously and recalled Crawford asking him about specific plays in games that happened years ago. Advertisement "We played together my last year in the Clippers," Hill recalled, "and we sat together on the plane. This guy was studying basketball. He would go and look at clips on YouTube and talk about games I played in the '90s and certain moves that I did." "We talked about, well, he liked to go left pulling up. He's like, 'You know what? You inspired me. I got to work on going right.' He's in his prime at the time… He's a basketball junkie," the Hall of Famer added. According to Hill, Crawford's skill is a product of his dedication to his craft and attention to detail. While it looks like he was showboating, every move was deliberate, built on hours of film study and a sharp sense of timing and spacing. Related: CJ McCollum explains the difference between a good and a great NBA player: "I've seen LeBron ice in the club" Crawford's three 50-point games Coming off the bench helped sharpen Crawford's knack for instant offense. He holds the record for the most 50-point games as a reserve with three, doing it with the New York Knicks, Golden State Warriors, and Phoenix Suns. He also had a 50-point display with the Chicago Bulls in 2004, though that one came as a starter against the Toronto Raptors. Advertisement However, doing it at Madison Square Garden gave Crawford's career-high of 52 points extra weight. The numbers were impressive, but the venue made it unforgettable. "You know how you score 17 straight points? He hit 17 buckets in a row!" said an impressed Dwyane Wade, whose Miami Heat was on the wrong end of Crawford's scoring outburst. "Consecutive buckets in the Garden! That was crazy." Crawford made every shot from early in the first quarter until the third. His 18-footer at the 2:17 mark of the third quarter was his first miss since the five-minute mark of the opening period. "I didn't look at anybody. I just stayed in my own zone," said Jamal. Advertisement Crawford may never have had the accolades of a superstar, but his peers knew what he brought. The NBA doesn't hand out respect easily, but Jamal earned it from those who understood the grind.
