Orlando Pirates' best player is returning
Orlando Pirates had to deal with key injuries at various junctures this season. However, things are looking up for the next campaign.
Thabiso Sesane started the campaign in domineering form, becoming a pillar in the heart of their defence. It was, therefore, a massive blow to the club and player when he was cruelly struck down with a serious tendon injury in February. The rupture was deemed bad enough for the 24-year-old to undergo surgery. Full recovery could take anywhere between four and six months. Meanwhile, Innocent Maela enjoyed a rare start as Pirates were held 1-1 by Magesi in their final Betway Premiership clash of the campaign. It was Maela's swansong appearance after which he got a standing ovation and sendoff by the home fans. Patrick Maswanganyi opened the scoring for the Buccaneers in the 7th minute, and Zimbabwean veteran Edmore Chirambare equalised for the visitors on 32 minutes.
The 32-year-old was a bit-part player in his swansong season after falling down the pecking order in defence. Always praised for his versatility, Maela could seamlessly operate at left-back or in the heart of defence.

Kaizer Chiefs news: FOUR players GONE
This winter's transfer window is expected to so telling for Kaizer Chiefs. As early preparations, the Betway Premiership giants have part ways with four players. While two of the departed players are from the reserve team that plays in the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC), they are not just any pair. The dou are the superstars that were destined for promotion. Mamelodi Sundowns to announce new deal
Mamelodi Sundowns defender Divine Lunga won't be changing his club colours anytime soon. The Betway Premiership champions have reportedly decided to keep the 30-year-old Zimbabwean for another year. Lunga made his dream move to the big time when he signed for Sundowns in July 2021 from fellow Premier Soccer League side Golden Arrows.
