Lahore Development Plan: Punjab CM inspects various zones
The citizens congratulated Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on the success of Operation 'Bunyan-un-Marsus.'
The chief minister raised slogans of Pakistan Zindabad. She suddenly reached a vegetable shop and checked rates of various commodities. She made surprise visits to various projects yesterday and reviewed their construction quality. She inspected under-construction roads, streets and drainage projects.
She directed to ensure quality in the under-completion projects at all costs. She directed to ensure timely completion of Lahore Development Plan. She conversed with the local citizens and inquired about ongoing development projects.
The citizens expressed their gratitude to the chief minister for launching Lahore Development Plan. She made a surprise visit to a vegetable shop after inspecting Lahore Development Plan project. She hugged a woman and asked about the rates of vegetables. She inquired about the rates of onions, bitter gourd, potatoes, cabbage and guar beans.
On the inquisition of the chief minister, a woman told her about reduction of vegetables prices. She also checked official price list at the vegetable shop. She said, 'It gives me immense worry all day long that edibles do not become expensive for the people.'
She called a little child close to her and expressed her affection. She also visited a market in the Chauburji area. The shopkeepers expressed their pleasant surprise after seeing the Chief Minister among them. The citizens told her about the newly built road of the market which remained broken and deteriorated for a long period of time.
The CM said, 'I myself wanted to pay a visit to different areas so as to inspect the condition of streets and roads of Lahore. I feel profound rejoice to serve the citizens.'
She also inquired about the citizens well-being. She inquired about cleanliness arrangements and other projects. The citizens prayed for her and Muhammad Nawaz Sharif's well-being. A citizen while talking to the Chief Minister apprised her that no Chief Minister in the past had ever inquired them about their well-being and other problems. They highly appreciated her for paying a visit to inspect ongoing development projects.
The citizens remarked that their streets remained in a dilapidated condition and there was dirt all around for long. They prayed for good health and long life of Nawaz Sharif. They appreciated the chief minister's vision for launching development projects not only in Lahore but across Punjab as well. The citizens acknowledged that their street was built after 40 years within a short span of 15 days only.
The chief minister said that she paid a visit as she herself wanted to ensure that the streets and roads are built within stipulated time frame.

SCBA expresses concern over amended SC rules
ISLAMABAD: The president Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) expressed deep concern over the recent amendments to the Supreme Court Rules, 1980, which were introduced 'without prior and meaningful consultation with the SCBA'. SCBA chief Mian Rauf Atta, in a statement issued on Wednesday urged the Supreme Court to review and withdraw the recent increase in court filing fees so as to restore public confidence and uphold the constitutional promise of speedy, inexpensive, and unobstructed justice. The SCBA remains steadfast in its commitment to the rule of law, judicial independence, and the equal right of all citizens to access justice without financial or procedural barriers, and will continue to safeguard these principles in the national interest. Atta said that the apex representative body of the legal fraternity, with members across all provinces and territories, the association has a vital institutional role in any reforms to the procedural framework of the Supreme Court. 'Introducing such changes in isolation risks weakening the spirit of collaborative decision-making and overlooks the legitimate contribution of the Bar in protecting the integrity and accessibility of the justice system.' Rauf Atta noted that the substantial and unprecedented increase in court fees and filing charges is excessive and poses serious challenges to the principle of affordable justice. He emphasised that the Supreme Court's constitutional role is to remain the ultimate forum for the dispensation of justice – not to create financial hurdles that discourage citizens, especially the poor and vulnerable, from exercising their right to seek redress. Determining or revising such fees is properly within the legislative and the executive domain, and such increases, if disproportionate, risk placing justice beyond the reach of many, contrary to the foundational principles of a democratic legal order. The SCBA president further highlighted that the dignity, respect, and fair treatment of lawyers, litigants, and all stakeholders must be preserved at every stage of judicial proceedings and within court premises. A fee structure of this magnitude will inevitably increase the overall cost of litigation, making it more difficult for ordinary citizens to pursue their cases. This, he observed, is inconsistent with the constitutional guarantees contained in Article 8 to 39 of the constitution, which require the State to ensure inexpensive, expeditious, and unobstructed justice for all. Atta also stressed that the Supreme Court should focus on delivering substantive justice through patient and thorough hearings, rather that placing undue emphasis on statistical disposal of cases. True justice is reflected not in the number of cases decided but in the fairness, impartiality, and depth of judicial reasoning. Efficiency should serve the cause of justice, not replace it. ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Uraan Fellowship Programme 2025, said that the exceptional talent of youth from Gilgit-Baltistan to Gwadar will be linked with the process of national development, said a press release. He said that the purpose of this program is to make the youth genuine partners in the country's progress and to nurture their leadership skills to meet future challenges. Professor Iqbal said that under the vision of the prime minister, the central focus of Uraan Pakistan is to equip the youth with modern skills. The greatest strength and capital of Pakistan are its youth, who make up 64 per cent of the population. He said that Pakistan came into being as a result of the unparalleled leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, but it is thought-provoking that countries which were once behind us have now moved ahead. The Minister for Planning said that peace, political stability, continuity of policies, reforms and commitment to modernization are the key pillars of development. Unfortunately, due to political vendettas, the decision-making process has been affected. He stated that through CPEC, $25 billion of investment came into the country, load-shedding was controlled, and law and order was restored. Professor Iqbal urged the youth to protect themselves from hatred and prejudiced attitudes and to play a positive role in the country's development. He said that in the past year, inflation was brought under control and the Pakistan Stock Exchange crossed the 140,000 points mark — a testament to economic improvement. Pakistan is on the path to a new phase of progress, and just as it proved its defensive superiority over India, it will also surpass it in the economic field. He said that the youth must play a key role in turning the dream of making Pakistan a $3 trillion economy by 2047 into reality. Moreover, students from 131 universities across the country will work for seven days with the Ministry of Planning, where they will gain important insights into the country's economic affairs and development projects. Sindh leading Independence Day celebrations: Sindh CM
KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, speaking at the 'Maarka-e-Haq' concert at the National Stadium, recalled the events of May when, according to him, India attacked Pakistan. 'Our soldiers responded in such a way that India was forced to plead before the world,' he said. 'Had we wanted, we could have continued the war and taught them a harsher lesson, but as a peace-loving nation, we accepted the global call for a ceasefire.' The chief minister said this was why the atmosphere at the event was charged with extra zeal and enthusiasm. 'Sindh is the province that played a leading role in the creation of Pakistan, and today it is also leading Independence Day celebrations,' he remarked. He announced that renowned singers Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Atif Aslam, and Sajjad Ali would be performing to entertain the audience. Shah credited his entire cabinet and the Arts Council of Pakistan for making the concert possible, saying the event could not have been organized without their dedicated efforts.
