Triple Coronation Street exit shock as end of an era is confirmed

For 25 years Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) has been a fixture in Coronation Street.
The popular character has been through a huge amount of drama in that time, including raising two sons, being mother hen to numerous lodgers at number 11, enjoying/enduring a rivalry with Gail Platt (Helen Worth) and being married to a killer.
But with Sue Cleaver having taken the decision to 'Embrace change, look for new adventures and live fearlessly' by moving on from the soap, Eileen's exit is fast approaching.
Her final storyline saw the return of Katy Cavanagh as Eileen's sister Julie Carp. It was soon revealed that Julie was dealing with a terminal illness and didn't have long to live, and viewers have recently seen the sad scenes where Eileen returned to her sister with a cup of tea while they were on a day out to a beauty spot, only to find that Julie had died while she was gone.
Julie's funeral brought another returnee in the form of Ryan Thomas as Eileen's son Jason. And in upcoming episodes we'll see Jason make Eileen a tempting offer.
He's been living in Thailand since he left Weatherfield, and he suggests that Eileen could come back with him and be his business partner.
Eileen's immediate reaction is that her partner, George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley), would never want to move to Thailand. Eileen has been struggling with her feelings for George recently, at one moment not sure she loves him but the next moment saying that she wants her future to be with him.
Julie certainly thought that Eileen was selling herself short by settling for a relationship with George.
But it seems that her decision about whether to accept Jason's offer hinges on George and he surprises her, saying that he's prepared to move his life to the other side of the world to be with her.
In fact he's booked them a holiday to Thailand – leaving the very next day – so they can see if life there would suit them.
Eileen's other son, Todd (Gareth Pierce) has recently embarked on a relationship with a man called Theo (James Cartwright), who's been struggling with his sexuality.
Theo's daughter Millie has been staying at Eileen's briefly, and when she has to go home she tells Theo she wants him to move beck in with her and her mum. More Trending
Theo replies that he wants to be with Todd and can't live a lie any more. His words give Eileen cause to reflect again about her feelings for George and whether she's settling for a relationship she's not really feeling.

After thinking things through, Eileen breaks the news to her beloved friends at the cab office, Steve (Simon Gregson) and Tim (Joe Duttine), that she's made her decision.
She's going to accept Jason's offer and invest in his bar, moving permanently to Thailand.

The eight-episode series, set at the turn of the millennium, is based on the acclaimed memoir by author and trans rights campaigner Paris Lees. For those looking for some Y2K nostalgia, this is your easy fix with retro outfits, cultural references and a killer soundtrack to take you right back. Think those hazy Blair-Brown days when shows like Queer As Folk offered snatches of LGBTQ+ visbility for the community and mainstream trans representation was sparse. The synopsis for the East Midlands-based show reads: 'To find yourself, sometimes you need to lose yourself. It's Y2K, and Byron's flirting with discovery and destruction, love and anarchy. ' Played by Ellis Howard, the show follows Byron as they escape into Nottingham's queer underbelly and discover a vibrant found family in friends, Sasha (Hannah Jones) and Lady Die (Laquarn Lewis) aka Fallen Dives in the club scene. The series also stars Calam Lynch, Laura Haddock, Hannah Walters and Michael Socha. It is already being praised by fans on X. 'First 2 episodes boxed off. That was actually very, very good!' Paloma Faith 'bullied at school' as Natalie Cassidy says star 'tormented her'
A claim by Paloma Faith saying she was bullied at school has resurfaced after she was accused of bullying EastEnders actress Natalie Cassidy at Islington Green School Paloma Faith has said she too was bullied at school as EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy claimed the musician picked on her. The pair both attended Islington Green School, with the songstress a year above the actress. Recently, Natalie claimed Paloma had tormented her at school, but revealed she is now gutted about the interaction. The soap star recently spoke on her podcast Life With Nat about growing up with Paloma. She claimed: "Paloma Faith, she bullied me at school. She went to Islington Green and was in the year above me. We've spoken about it and she has said sorry about that. Gutted." Now, a previous post on Twitter /X by Paloma has resurfaced, which shows the Only Love Can Hurt Like This singer saying she too was targeted at the London school. The upload from 2012 read: "Yes I got bullied at school. I had braces and before that, wonky teeth." Speaking of her school experience, Paloma previously told The Standard how her teachers helped her in her career growing up. "They were very encouraging to me. I was put in the Hackney Gazette because it was a failing school and I got all As at GCSE." She went on to say she didn't receive any formal musical training despite her school days inspiring her creative nature. "I did it all myself," she claimed at the time. "I had no famous parents, no stage school, no BRIT School." Now, Paloma admits that despite her huge success, she has no fears of being cancelled. In March, she explained that she believes her upbringing has placed her 'on the right side of ethics and morals' and that she can navigate 'cancel culture' with ease. The star believes her frank views and wild tales won't land her in trouble. She explained to The Sun in March how she avoids scandal, declaring: "I'm not worried about being cancelled at all. "I am pretty cocky about my morals and my ethics. I feel like my politics and everything I've done is OK. "I was raised by a socialist in a multicultural environment, with gay, straight, trans, drag queens, everyone, all around me." She continued: "Most people getting called out are straight white men, isn't it? They deserve it. "You can't just go around grabbing people's bums and dropping drugs in women's drinks or f***ing shouting homophobic abuse at people and then not expect it to come back on you."

Anita Dobson looked jubilant as she won Scene of the Year for her surprise EastEnders return, while Amelia Flanagan held back tears as she accepted her gong at the British Soap Awards on Saturday night. Stars of the country's favourite soaps descended on London's Hackney Empire for the annual bash which was hosted by Jane McDonald. And among the biggest moments of the night was Anita, 76, scooping an award for her reprisal of the iconic Angie Watts for EastEnders' special anniversary episode in February. The actress returned as the Queen Vic's first landlady for the first time in 37 years for a heartbreaking cameo with daughter Sharon - played by Letitia Dean. Her shock return left viewers stunned and in tears, with fans branding it the 'TV moment of the year', so her win came as no surprise. Meanwhile, Amelia was overcome with emotion as she was announced as the winner of Best Young Performer for playing April Windsor in Emmerdale. The 16-year-old - who previously won the prize for Best Young Performance for the role in 2015 - couldn't hid her shock as she took to the stage to accept the trophy. The actress beat out Corrie's Will Flanagan, EastEnders star Sonny Kendall and Hollyoaks' Noah Holdsworth for the win. Another standout moment of the ceremony was Sir David Jason taking to the stage to present the coveted Best Soap award. The Only Fools and Horses star, 85, cut a dapper figure in a classic black suit and bow tie as he announced EastEnders as the winner. It capped off a good night for the residents of Walford, with the BBC soap coming out the victor of this year's awards with a whopping eight wins. Following in their wake was Hollyoaks with three gongs, Emmerdale two and Coronation Street only receiving one win on the night. As well as their wins for Anita and Best Soap, EastEnders also nabbed the Best Episode award for Phil's Psychosis: The Mitchells In 1985. Steve McFadden, who plays fan favourite Phil Mitchell, won the Best Dramatic Performance award while Patsy Palmer won Best Comedic Performance for her role as Bianca Jackson. The popular progamme also scored Best Villain for Navin Chowdhry for his role as Nish Panesar, while Lacey Turner, who plays Stacey Slater, won the Best Leading Performer Award. Rudolph Walker & Angela Wynter (Patrick & Yolande Trueman) delivered another win for EastEnders as they won Best On-Screen Partnership. Hollyoaks' three awards started with Isabelle Smith who won Best Newcomer for her role as Frankie Osborne. The Osbornes then won the Best Family award while Hollyoaks' sibling sexual abuse storyline received the Best Storyline award. Emmerdale's camera operator Mike Plant took home the Tony Warren Award which is given to employees working behind the scenes. Coronation Street's sole gong of the night was the Outstanding Achievement Award which went to David Neilson who has played Roy Cropper for 30 years. Denise Walsh and Martin Kemp presented the Best Newcomer award together, before Denise was surprised with an award herself by Shirlie Kemp. The actress was given the special CHEE award, standing for Corrie, Hollyoaks, Eastenders, Emmerdale, for someone who has appeared in all four soaps. Last year's show was suddenly cancelled with no explanation after the nominees had been announced. The June 2023 edition reached 5.7 million viewers in total with just under one million streams on ITVX and a peak of 3.2m viewers via its linear overnight broadcast. Singer and self-confessed soaps lover Jane, 61, stepped in as a last-minute replacement for Phillip Schofield two years ago after he quit ITV after admitting to an affair with a young male This Morning colleague. Host Jane said: 'I'm beyond excited to be hosting The British Soap Awards again as I had such a ball hosting the awards last time. 'You all know I love my soaps, so to be in a room giving recognition to all these wonderful actors and their fantastic hard work is simply joyous. I can't wait to get my glittery frock on and celebrate with everyone.' Meanwhile, Gemma John-Lewis, Entertainment Commissioner ITV said: 'The British Soaps Awards are an opportunity to celebrate and shine a light on the incredible actors and production teams that deliver gripping drama and captivating stories throughout the year.
