Manchester United fans in Malaysia to see full squad take on Asean all-stars

KUALA LUMPUR - Manchester United fans in Malaysia can look forward to seeing the club's biggest stars live in action as the Red Devils' full senior squad will travel for the highly anticipated clash against the ASEAN All-Stars at the National Stadium, Bukit Jalil here on May 28.
United head coach Ruben Amorim confirmed the development during a press conference recently.
"I was consulted. We cannot say nothing after this season, so we need to help the club because the club wins some more money. We are going to connect with our fans around the world and that is important, especially when we lose and we disappoint our supporters during this tough season.
"So, I think it is the least we can do. And we are going to take all the team, the young kids also, and we'll have the staff there. We had a lot of changes in the staff so we're trying to build something as a family. I think it is also a good thing,' he said as quoted by the club's official website www.manutd.com.
Asked if he will take all of the senior players as well, Ruben said: "Yes, yes.'
Despite a challenging season in the Premier League (PL), United showed remarkable resilience in their UEFA Europa League campaign, progressing to the final where they will face fellow English side Tottenham Hotspur at the San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao, Spain on May 21.
The last time United played in Malaysia was during the 2009 pre-season tour, beating Malaysia XI twice, 3-2 and 2-0, respectively on July 18 and 20 at the National Stadium.
The 13-time PL champions are also scheduled to travel to Hong Kong as part of their pre-season tour to play against the Hong Kong national team at the Hong Kong Stadium on May 30. - BERNAMA

Brentford sign goalkeeper Kelleher from Liverpool

(EPA Images pic) LONDON : Brentford have completed the signing of Irish international goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool for a reported fee of up to £18 million. The Bees' previous No 1 Mark Flekken joined Bayer Leverkusen earlier today in a deal worth around €10 million. Kelleher played an important role in Liverpool's Premier League triumph, making 10 appearances during the absence of Alisson Becker due to injury. However, the 26-year-old was keen for more first-team action and could have fallen further down the pecking order at Anfield with the arrival of Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia. Kelleher has signed a five-year deal at Brentford with a club option of an additional season. 'As well as being a very good goalkeeper, I've rarely met a player for whom everybody has such positive words to say about his personality and character,' said Brentford director of football Phil Giles. 'I'm therefore confident he'll be an excellent addition to the squad.' Kelleher made 67 appearances for Liverpool and leaves with two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup, two League Cups and the Uefa Super Cup. Since the price cap was introduced in 2016, away game attendance has risen from 82% to 91%. The cumulative away attendance for the 380 matches during the 2024-25 season was 953,420. "The Premier League and clubs recognise the additional costs associated with fans following their team during the season, and the incredible atmospheres they create at matches," the league said in a statement. This comes after fans of several Premier League clubs united under the Football Supporters' Association campaign "Stop Exploiting Loyalty", prompting a ticket price freeze next season from clubs like Liverpool, Brentford, and Manchester City.
