Templegate's York Ebor ante-post tips
EBOR (Sat)
Trainer Paddy Twomey has done us a couple of favours already this season (Carmers was a lovely Royal Ascot winner for us) and looks to have a solid each-way chance with LA ISLA MUJERES in the Ebor.
This Lope De Vega mare is number 18 in the entries so will get a run and has been operating in Listed and Group races with some success since leaving Ralph Beckett's yard in 2024 to cross the Irish Sea.
She was an impressive Roscommon winner this time last year and looked in good nick when coming back from eight months off for a close-up second at Down Royal last time.
She saw out two miles there but has more than enough pace for this shorter trip where stamina is always an asset anyway.
She's hovering around the 33-1 mark which looks too big for a mare that still has potential to improve at the age of five and Twomey is an excellent target trainer.
She has some more fancy entries like the Irish St Leger later this season so must be showing plenty at home.
They will all have to shift to beat last year's unlucky fifth Hipop De Loire who is 7-2 favourite for Willie Mullins but my hope has plenty going for her each-way.
NUNTHORPE (Fri)
JM JUNGLE looks a very fair 14-1 for the Nunthorpe on the back of his excellent victory in the Group 2 King George at Glorious Goodwood.
This was a clear career best for John and Sean Quinn's five-year-old who enjoyed the quick ground and hit the line really strongly despite winning by only a neck.
It's no secret that the current sprinting division is full of horses that are more slow boat than Usain Bolt and the Nunthorpe looks ripe for an upset.
JM Jungle's last five visits to York have produced a big handicap win and four places in hot company, all over this trip.
There's every chance he'll keep that good run going.
JUDDMONTE INTERNATIONAL (Wed)
FRENCH raider DARYZ is an interesting contender and looks a big price at 10-1 in a couple of places, with some bookies offering just 7s.
This exciting son of Sea The Stars has yet to taste defeat in four outings and took the step up into Group 2 company in his stride at St Cloud last time.
Although he's won with some juice in the ground, connections are adamant he wants a quick surface and that's likely to be served up at York.
Francis-Henri Grafford knows what he's doing with a talented horse and this improving three-year-old gets weight from his older rivals and can be backed now with three places still on offer.
Connections have confirmed him as a planned runner and he could be facing less than the current eight rivals on the day.

Morgan Gibbs-White reportedly phoned Tottenham boss Thomas Frank to apologise after a dramatic U-turn led to the midfielder signing a new contract at Nottingham Forest. Tottenham had believed they had activated a release clause in Gibbs-White's contract by making a £60million bid on July 10. A medical had been booked for the England international, but the move was halted dramatically when Forest threatened to report Spurs to the Premier League for an alleged 'illegal' approach. Gibbs-White, who had been keen on a move to Tottenham, ultimately agreed a new three-year contract at Nottingham Forest with the club describing it as a 'record deal'. The deal is understood to have more than doubled his previous £60,000-a-week salary. According to The Athletic, Gibbs-White called Tottenham boss Frank to apologise for how the situation had played out. Frank reportedly told the midfielder that an apology was not necessary, despite Tottenham's disappointment by Gibbs-White's decision to change his mind and commit to Forest by signing a new deal. Daily Mail Sport previously reported how Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis had flown in to Forest's training camp on the Algarve to hold one-on-one talks with Gibbs-White As well as offering Gibbs-White a new contract, Marinakis vowed to provide continued investment at the club, including in the squad, stadium and training facilities. Forest have brought in Dan Ndoye from Bologna in a £34m move this summer, while Brazilian duo Igor Jesus and Jair Cunha had since arrived from Botafogo for a combined £27million. Daily Mail Sport reported on Thursday that Forest have agreed to shell out over £90m on three signings ahead of the start of the season. Forest have offered £37.5million for Ipswich Town winger Omari Hutchinson and are closing on a £26m deal for Rennes forward Arnaud Kalimeundo. They are also finalising details on a £30m package for Manchester City midfielder James McAtee. Tottenham's move for Gibbs-White had come fresh after sealing a deal for Mohammed Kudus, as Frank looked to add creativity to his new club. Phil Parkinson says Wrexham have been forced to spend heavily to compete in the Championship after smashing their transfer record to sign Nathan Broadhead. Wales striker Broadhead joined from Ipswich on Thursday in a reported deal worth up to £10million, although Parkinson quipped Wrexham would have 'to get in the Premier League and win the Champions League' for the fee to reach that figure. Broadhead became Wrexham's ninth summer signing for a campaign which sees them playing in the second tier of English football just three seasons after being in the National League. 'The backing (from owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney) is key,' manager Parkinson said ahead of West Brom's visit to the SToK Cae Ras on Saturday – Wrexham's first home game at this level since beating Rotherham 3-2 on May 15, 1982. 'There's a lot of spending power in the division. Really since day one, because we've moved so quickly as a club, we've always had to work hard to fast-track the quality level to the first team. 'We've always been playing catch up, even in the National League we were behind a lot of clubs development-wise – the structure, academy, players coming through. 'We had to improve the standard and that filters down. The structure behind the first team has become stronger with the formation of the academy a couple of years ago. 'We've come into this division very quickly and it's important we've brought in Championship standard players to help us on this journey. Also, to help the existing players who have do so well over the last few years.' The addition of Bangor-born Broadhead, who was in the Wrexham youth system before joining Everton at the age of 10, is the biggest statement yet the Red Dragons have made in the transfer market under their Hollywood owners. The 27-year-old has won 14 Wales caps and made 18 Premier League appearances for Ipswich last term in a season disrupted by injuries. Parkinson said: 'We've been looking at Nathan throughout the summer. 'A fee had been agreed with Ipswich for quite a long time, but they wanted to bring a player in so we had to be patient. 'He's got that Championship pedigree and the ability to create something in tight situations. 'You need players to unlock the door and create moments in games, and Nathan's got that. Wrexham lost their Championship opener at Southampton 2-1 last weekend, with two late Saints goals condemning them to painful defeat. Bournemouth close in on £25m agreement for Liverpool winger Ben Doak
Bournemouth are close to agreeing a £25m deal for Liverpool winger Ben Doak. Porto are also interested in the Scotland international but the likelihood is that he opts to stay in the Premier League. Doak has been a target for a host of other clubs this summer, with Wolves, West Ham and Leeds among his other suitors. . Doak's departure would mean Liverpool, who will take their spending past £300m by bringing in defender Giovanni Leoni from Parma, will have recouped over £200m by selling players.
