Naseeruddin Shah Called 'Anti-Hindu' For Backing Diljit Dosanjh, BJP Leader Slams Actor
Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah has landed in the middle of a political firestorm after his social media post in support of Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh triggered strong condemnation from BJP leaders, particularly Maharashtra BJP MLA Ram Kadam. Calling Shah's remarks 'anti-Hindu" and 'deeply insensitive," Kadam demanded a public apology, asserting that Shah had hurt the sentiments of crores of Hindus across the country.
In a post that went viral, Shah stood by Diljit amid a political controversy regarding his recently released movie 'Sardaar Ji 3', and criticised what he called the 'dirty tricks department of the Jumla Party." Taking to his Facebook handle, the actor penned a note supporting Diljit Dosanjh in which he stated that the star was not responsible for casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in the movie.
'He was not responsible for the casting of the film, the director was. But no one knows who he is whereas Diljit is known the world over, and he agreed to the cast because his mind is not poisoned," the veteran actor added.
He defended Diljit's global reputation and condemned attempts to malign him. He also expressed solidarity with people of Pakistan and said he would continue to meet his friends there, concluding his post with a jibe: 'My response to those who will say 'Go to Pakistan' is — 'Go to Kailasa'".
Reacting sharply, BJP leader Ram Kadam, addressing the media in Mumbai on Tuesday, questioned the intent behind Shah's comparison. 'Who told you to go to Pakistan? Kailasa is our sacred land, it is Shiv Bhoomi, a place of Sanatan culture. Why is Naseeruddin Shah equating it with Pakistan?" Kadam asked.
He further slammed Shah, stating, 'Has he forgotten the Pahalgam attack? Has he forgotten that Pakistan is India's sworn enemy? Is his love for Pakistan greater than his love for India? Those who lost their families in terror attacks — has he ever spoken for them?"
Calling the statement deeply offensive, Kadam added, 'Naseeruddin Shah has insulted our brave soldiers, he has insulted crores of Hindus and the sanctity of Kailasa. This is nothing but a stunt to stay relevant in the headlines. He must fold his hands and apologise."
Kadam also issued a warning to Diljit Dosanjh, asking him to stay away from those who are against 'Maa Bharti". The controversy is likely to escalate further as political and cultural fault lines deepen ahead of the upcoming BMC elections in Maharashtra.

Farmers pay tribute to former Governor Satyapal Malik at Jagadhri Memorial gathering
A memorial gathering was organized today by the Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) Charuni at the Jagadhri grain market in Yamunanagar district to pay tribute to former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik, who passed away recently. The event, attended by a large number of farmers from Haryana, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh, was led by BKU Charuni national president Gurnam Singh Charuni. Farmers strongly criticized the BJP government for denying state honours to Satyapal Malik, alleging that the decision was politically motivated. Speakers recalled that while serving as Governor, Malik openly spoke against the BJP government's policies, supported the farmers' movement, and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to engage directly with protesting farmers to resolve the agitation. Malik had also condemned the Pulwama terror attack and demanded a transparent investigation, which, according to farmers' leaders, became the reason behind the government's denial of state honours after his demise. 'Any person who speaks for the nation and against the wrong policies of the government is branded as anti-national. The same happened with Satyapal Malik. He never spoke against the nation. Even Shaheed Bhagat Singh was denied martyr status by the governments of the time,' said Gurnam Singh Charuni while addressing the gathering. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo He demanded that the government immediately accord state honours to Malik, warning that if the demand is ignored, memorial meetings will be organized at every district headquarters as a mark of protest. Charuni added that it is the government's responsibility to pay tribute to Satyapal Malik with full state honours. The memorial ceremony was presided over by farmer leader Krishan Pal Sudhal and saw participation from several political parties, who also voiced opposition to the government's policies. Leaders announced that on September 14, a united memorial program will be organized in Delhi by all farmers' organizations in Malik's honour. Prominent attendees included BKU's acting state president Karam Singh Mathana, district president Sanju Gundiana, women's state president Suman Hooda, Manoj Nagar from Uttar Pradesh, Happy Harpal from Punjab, Krishan from Kurukshetra, Malkit from Ambala, Vikram Kasana, youth state president Ashok Latwal from Sonipat, Mamta from Rohtak, Same Singh from Rewari, Numberdar from Sirsa, Ranjit from Fatehabad, Narendra Singh from Panchkula, and state media in-charge Sandeep Singroha. The turnout highlighted farmers' continuing discontent with the government's handling of dissenting voices and reaffirmed their solidarity with leaders who stand against anti-farmer policies.

Stamp on Bihar move? Shahto attend SBSP rally in Arwal
Lucknow: In an important political development, Union home minister and BJP chief strategist Amit Shah is scheduled to attend a rally hosted by the party's alliance partner OP Rajbhar-led Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party (SBSP) in poll-bound Bihar on August 24. SBSP national general secretary Arun Rajbhar said on Monday that Shah has agreed to attend the rally proposed to be organised in Arwal district, around 80 km from Patna. He said that the rally would project the BJP-SBSP alliance in Bihar, where assembly elections are scheduled to take place later this year, most likely in October or November. "We seek close coordination with the BJP and a fair number of seats to contest in the Bihar assembly polls," Rajbhar said, adding that the party leadership was in close touch with the BJP high command to lay a final blueprint of its alliance. The SBSP chief earlier claimed to have identified nearly 29 assembly constituencies across Bihar where it aimed to contest. These include districts such as Sasaram, West Champaran, Nawada, Nalanda, Gaya, Aurangabad, and Bettiah. The development could potentially allow Rajbhar to position itself as a key poll partner of the BJP beyond UP. The SBSP, as a matter of fact, earlier claimed to form a third front with smaller parties in Bihar if its talks with the BJP failed. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Beyond Text Generation: An AI Tool That Helps You Write Better Grammarly Install Now Undo Rajbhar has been seeking to expand his party's footprint in an apparent bid to scale up his bargaining power. Experts said that Shah's scheduled presence at the SBSP's rally will not be just symbolic. It is being viewed as a clear message that the BJP wanted to widen its caste arithmetic by formally inducting and showcasing smaller allies. Shah rarely attends rallies of minor allies unless there is a strategic value, say political analysts, adding that it would signal the BJP's strategy to consolidate the Rajbhar votes seen as crucial in Bihar's fragmented electoral scenario. In Bihar, Rajbhars (also known as Bhar) are present in certain districts of eastern Bihar bordering UP (like Buxar, Kaimur, Rohtas). While not numerically dominant state-wide, they can play a spoiler or consolidator role in 15–20 assembly constituencies, analysts said. The BJP-led NDA in Bihar currently comprises constituents including Nitish Kumar's Janta Dal (United), Chirag Paswan-led Lok Jan Shakti Party (Ram Vilas), Jitan Majhi-led Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM), and Upendra Kushwaha's Rashtriya Lok Morcha. The inclusion of SBSP—though numerically small—may inevitably shrink the pie further. This, sources said, could raise the already prevailing tensions in seat negotiations, especially between LJP (RV) and JD(U). Paswan recently flexed his muscles by declaring that his party would field candidates on "all 243 seats" of Bihar, prompting the opposition to claim that the JLP (RV) leader was all set to leave the NDA. The BJP, however, viewed his statement differently, saying that Chirag meant to say that his party would contest as an "NDA constituent".
