
Tamil cinema celebrities express grief over the Ahmedabad plane crash incident
The devastating crash of Air India flight AI 171, which killed 242 people on board in Ahmedabad on Thursday, has engulfed the nation in grief and sorrow.
Even as the airlines scrambles to understand the reason behind the tragedy, several people, including celebrities, condoled the untimely demise of the victims and extended support to their families.
Actors Kamal Haasan, Ravi Mohan, Vishnu Vishal, Simran and many others took to their social media handles to express their shock and deep sadness for the bereaved families.Kamal Haasan wrote that the incident has 'left the nation stunned in sorrow'.
"In this tragic hour, my heart reaches out to the victims and their grieving families," he said.
Ravi Mohan shared that he felt saddened to hear about the crash and sent his prayers for the affected families. Vishnu Vishal highlighted how "life is brutal" and extended his support to the people who lost their loved ones. Simran said she was "disturbed" by the news about the plane crash and hoped for the passengers' safety.
Actor Keerthy Suresh wrote that it was "heart-wrenching to even imagine what the victim's families must be going through." Actor-politician Khushbu Sundar also said she was in disbelief to hear about the news and said, "God be with them."
Director Venkat Prabhu and actors Soori and Aathmika too had written a post on X, sharing their condolences and extending their prayers.

Coimbatore hosts queer art exhibition
Photo by J Jackson COIMBATORE: Members of the queer community conducted an art exhibition cum cultural programme in Coimbatore city on Saturday showcasing the diverse talents and perspectives within the LGBTQIA+ community. The art exhibition offered a dedicated platform for LGBTQIA+ artists to present their works highlighting queer identities, experiences and narratives. As many as 30 paintings, all with the theme of queer community, by around 15 artists were displayed at the exhibition held in a hotel in the city. Some of the paintings reflected the supressed emotions of transgender people and their quest to find an identity. The exhibition was aimed at encouraging a broader and more inclusive understanding of human diversity within families, communities, and the public. The cultural programmes included music, fashion walk and open mic poetry. Kalki Subramaniam, a transgender rights activist, was among those present.
