Meta Rolls Out AI-Powered Audio Translations for Video
This story was originally published on Social Media Today. To receive daily news and insights, subscribe to our free daily Social Media Today newsletter. Meta's looking to expand access to more content in the app, by enabling audio translations of content, using its advancing AI translation tools, which are even able to simulate lip movements to line up with audio translations. As you can see in this example, Facebook users will now be able to view certain content in another spoken language, using Meta AI's evolving audio translation elements, which can make it look like the people in the video are speaking in a different dialect. As explained by Meta: 'Meta AI Translations uses the sound and tone of your own voice so it feels authentically you. And the lip syncing feature matches your mouth's movements to the translated audio, so that it looks like you're really speaking the language in the reel.' Meta's been developing this for some time, with its latest advances in AI re-creation now enabling a broad rollout of the option, beginning with auto translations from English to Spanish (and the reverse). Creators will be able to choose if they want to activate audio translations within the Reels composer, with a new toggle to 'Translate your voice with Meta AI'. As you can see in this example, you can also choose to switch on auto lip synching, or just leave the presentation as is, and only translate the audio of the clip. 'If you want to review the translation before it's published, you can select the toggle to enable this option, you will then receive a notification (or you can go to Professional Dashboard) to review and approve the translation. Accepting or rejecting the translation will not impact your original, non-translated reel.' Translated reels will be presented to viewers in their preferred language, and will be notified that your reel has been translated with Meta AI. Viewers will also be able to control whether they see translations in specific languages. It could be a handy tool, which could expand your audience, with realistic-looking translations of your content into other languages. And while only Spanish is available at launch, Meta says that it will be adding many more languages to the option in the near future. Though as with all auto-translation options, mistakes will happen, and Meta has a few notes of advice to help ensure that its system is able to read your lips. The system supports translation for up to two speakers, though creators should try not to speak over each other to improve accuracy Creators should look to minimize background noise and/or music in translated reels Meta says that building a new audience in a new language is, in some ways, like starting again, so it will take time to gain traction with this segment. So it's not perfect, and there will be limitations in translating your audio. But it could help you reach many, many more people, by enabling new audiences to tune into your work. In addition to this, Meta's also giving Facebook Page managers the option to add up to 20 of your own dubbed audio tracks to a single Reel. 'Like Meta AI translations, viewers will hear your reel in their own language so you can continue to build deeper connections with diverse audiences without language barriers.' These manual tracks won't be lip-synched in the same way, but they will provide another means to connect in other languages. Facebook creators who've switched on Professional Mode, and have more than 1,000 followers, will be able to access the feature in the latest version of the app, while Instagram creators with public accounts in regions where Meta AI is available will also be able to activate the option. MySize Credits Percentil Acquisition for Q2 Revenue Bump
Fashion technology company MySize said its acquisition of Spanish secondhand fashion marketplace Percentil helped the company achieve an increase in revenue for the second quarter of 2025. In the company's earnings report, MySize reported a 2 percent increase in revenue year-over-year for the three months ending June 30, bringing in $2 million. But its revenue for the six months ending June 30 was down year-over-year by 30 percent to $3.5 million, which MySize attributed to a decrease in sales for its fashion and equipment e-commerce division, Orgad, due to market changes. More from Sourcing Journal Impact and Profit Go Hand-in-Hand, ThredUp Impact Report Finds One in Five UK Consumers May Stop Shopping Online Over Cyberattacks This is What Trump's New AI Action Plan Says About American Jobs and Manufacturing Gross profit over the three-month period was up 14 percent to $1.1 million year-over-year, but down 30 percent for the six-month period to $1.5 million. MySize reported an operating loss of $586,000 for the second quarter, a 49 percent improvement from the same period in 2024. For the first two quarters combined, operating losses were $1.6 million, a 25 percent improvement over the same time last year. MySize's cash position sits at $4.28 million as of June 30, with $2.90 million in inventory. Percentil contributed $180,000 in revenue since its acquisition in May. And MySize said that it believes Percentil will continue to push the company forward, due to its operation in Spain and across Europe, directly in the path of the EU's Circular Economy Action Plan and Extended Producer Responsibility for textiles. With legislation forcing brands to manage the full lifecycle of their products, including take-back, recycling and repair, the Percentil acquisition provides a ready-made platform for compliance. 'We are focused on building long-term value while delivering operational progress each quarter,' said Ronen Luzon, founder and CEO of MySize. 'The EU is rewriting fashion's rulebook. Percentil is designed to help brands comply with these new standards and unlock new opportunities for growth.' Percentil's platform includes AI-powered product matching, garment grading and logistics integration that Luzon said will better position MySize to take advantage of the changing circularity landscape in fashion. 'Some companies see regulation as a hurdle. We see it as the competitive advantage,' Luzon said. 'In five years, we believe European fashion resale will not be a niche—it will be the infrastructure of the industry. We intend Percentil to be at the center of that infrastructure, enabling brands to comply, delight customers, and operate profitably in a circular economy.' MySize acquired Percentil in May for around 610,000 euros (approximately $679,000), and at the time, the company said it expected the Percentil business to generate $1.5 million in revenue during the second half of 2025. That would represent a a projected 25 percent increase to the company's total revenue. The company said it still expects Percentil's contributions to accelerate during the second half of this year, driven by brand partnerships and regulatory compliance demand. MySize recently transitioned fulfillment for its Orgad division to Fulfillment by Amazon, which lowered logistics costs and improved delivery efficiency. The company said that plays directly into its three-segment strategy of SaaS sizing solutions (MySizeID and NaizFit), fashion and equipment e-commerce (Orgad) and apparel resale (Percentil). Looking forward, MySize said its triple-revenue model will allow it to create operational synergies and recurring cash flow that it will need to be successful for the remainder of this year and beyond. Meta's AI voice translation feature rolls out globally
On Tuesday, Meta rolled out its new voice dubbing feature globally. The Reels feature uses generative AI to translate your voice, with optional lip-syncing. Mark Zuckerberg first previewed the feature at Meta Connect 2024. At launch, the translations are only available for English to Spanish (and vice versa). The company says more languages will arrive later. At least at first, it's restricted to Facebook creators with 1,000+ followers. However, anyone with a public Instagram account can use it. The tool trains on your original voice and generates a translated audio track to match your tone. The lip-syncing add-on then matches your mouth's movements to the translated speech. The demo clip the company showed last year was spot-on — eerily so. You can choose whether to add lip syncing and preview before posting. (Meta) To use the feature, choose the "Translate your voice with Meta AI" option before publishing a reel. That's also where you can choose to add lip syncing. There's an option to review the AI-translated version before publishing. Viewers will see a pop-up noting that it's an AI translation. Meta says the feature works best for face-to-camera videos. The company recommends avoiding covering your mouth or including excessive background music. It works for up to two speakers, but it's best to avoid overlapping your speech. The company frames the feature as a way for creators to expand their audiences beyond their native tongues. As such, it included a by-language performance tracker, so you can see how well it's doing in each language. YouTube launched a similar feature last year. Apple has gotten in on the action, too: Messages, Phone and FaceTime apps have live translation tools in iOS 26.
