I use my MacBook every day — here's the 3 accessories I can't live without
MacBooks are great out of the box, but I've gotten more use from them with a handful of accessories. If you're a writer like me, or if you use a MacBook as your main work computer, you might not want to be confined to a single display or to using the built-in keyboard and touchpad.
Here are three devices I pair with the MacBook Air 13-inch M4. These are accessories I use every day and would recommend to anyone using a MacBook Air or MacBook Pro. I guarantee you'll maximize and boost your MacBook experience with these accessories.
MacBooks have great built-in keyboards that are comfortable to use for long stretches. That said, if I'm going to write for several hours, I want to do so on one of the best mechanical keyboards. There are many to choose from, but my go-to is the Logitech MX Mechanical Mini.
Why this keyboard? For starters, the Logi Options+ software used to configure and update the keyboard is compatible with macOS, which is something you don't always find with keyboards from other manufacturers like Razer. The specific MX keyboard I use even has Control, Option, and Command keys like a Mac keyboard.
The MX Mechanical Mini comes with a choice of three low-profile switches, with my favorite being tactile quiet (or brown) switches. The compact size and light weight also make this keyboard easy to travel with or use in different places around my apartment. The keys have satisfying travel distance, and the keycaps feel nice against my fingertips. It also has a range of connectivity and customization options.
The Logitech MX Mechanical Mini is a low-profile mechanical keyboard designed with productivity in mind. It's compact, stylish, and lovely to type on, plus it's available with a range of different switch options to customize the keyboard's feel and sound. However, it isn't as light as its small size might suggest and will set you back a pretty penny.
The Logitech MX Master 3S is one of the best wireless mice available. The fact that I use one at the office and at home should let you know how much I love this peripheral. Yes, a MacBook's touchpad is very responsive and intuitive to use, but it's not as precise as a mouse. Because of that, my go-to is the MX Master 3S.

Key features include a max sensitivity of 8,000 DPI and quiet button switches. I keep the mouse at 6,000 DPI, but it's good having the extra headroom in case I ever want the cursor to move faster. The quiet buttons are also great for the MX Master 3S I have at the office. This mouse is a tad heavier than an office mouse or one of the best gaming mice, but the comfortable ergonomic design helps offset that.
My favorite feature is the infinite scroll wheel, which its predecessor, the Logitech MX Master 3, also had. This is the main reason I use this mouse both at home and at the office, since infinite scrolling is a feature I can't live without. And as with the Logitech MX Mechanical Mini, you can customize this mouse to your liking via the Logi Options+ software. The Logitech MX Master 3S is an overall awesome mouse for Macs and Windows PCs.
The Logitech MX Master 3S has very little going against it. It's on the expensive side, sure, but it packs a design and features that befit its price tag. It'll be a brilliant purchase for anyone needing a productivity mouse, but in particular, those with large and/or complex workflows. Its scroll wheel is especially lovely, in either ratchet mode or infinite scrolling at 1,000 lines per minute. It also features 8,000 DPI sensitivity and quiet clicking — major upgrades over the original MX Master 3.
Wait a minute … and iPad isn't an accessory! While the best iPads are indeed their own devices and can even function as a MacBook replacement when updated to iPadOS 26 and paired with the Apple Magic Keyboard, I like using the 13-inch iPad Pro M4 I have at home as a second screen for the MacBook Air. It's legitimately a fantastic secondary display.
The Sidecar feature, which lets me seamlessly move the MacBook Air's cursor between the laptop and tablet, is a huge reason I like using the iPad Pro as a second display. And since both the laptop and tablet are Apple products, there are no compatibility issues. They work in perfect harmony.
Then, of course, there is the iPad Pro M4's gorgeous 13-inch (2,752 x 2,064) OLED panel, which shows everything even more vividly as the MacBook Air's 13-inch (2,560 x 1,664) Liquid Retina Display. Since the tablet has an OLED panel, I like watching YouTube videos on it while I work on the laptop. This is a nice setup that lets me multitask more efficiently. On top of that, the iPad Pro is a great second monitor for the MacBook Air since it's easy to travel with.
The iPad Pro M4 has it all: a fantastic OLED display, powerful M4 performance, a thin yet solid design and unbelievably long battery life. Though some of its peripherals and upgrades are pricey, Apple has delivered its best premium tablet in years.

Score! Razer just slashed the Blade 18 gaming laptop by $700 in epic sale
If you're looking for a gaming laptop to act as a desktop replacement, purchasing an 18-inch machine would be a smart choice. As you'd expect, these behemoths can be very expensive given their size and that they tend to pack high-end components. Thankfully, I just found an incredible deal you don't want to miss out on. Currently, Razer is offering the new Razer Blade 18 for up to $700 off. The biggest price cut is for the model with an RTX 5090, though that machine still costs $4,199 after the discount. If that's too much, you can opt for a configuration with an RTX 5070 Ti GPU for $ 2,499, which is $500 off. Razer has also discounted the Razer Blade 18 with RTX 5080 by $600. The Razer Blade 18 (2025) is the ultimate desktop replacement. This configuration pulls out the stops, thanks to its Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU, Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, 32GB of RAM and 2TB of SSD storage. Its 18-inch display also has dual mode, which allows you to play at 4K/240Hz or 1080p/440Hz. Regardless of which Razer Blade 18 you opt for, you're going to have a great time playing some of the best PC games. Let's detail what you're getting from this monstrous 18-inch gaming laptop. As its name suggests, the Razer Blade 18 is an 18-inch gaming laptop. While its size can undermine its portability, the large display, numerous ports and huge keyboard deck help balance things out. Even if you don't want to take it on the road, you're getting a laptop that can legitimately serve as a desktop replacement. The 18-inch display is impressive on its own, but it takes things further by offering two display modes, or dual-mode. You can play games at 4K resolution and 240Hz or 1080p at 440Hz. The former is best for cinematic games like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, while the latter is suited for fast-paced competitive games like CS: GO 2. This is the first 18-inch gaming laptop to offer dual-mode, so that's definitely a selling point. Thanks to Nvidia's RTX 50-series GPUs, these laptops can deliver stellar graphics at blisteringly fast frame rates. The Razer Blade 18 with an RTX 5070 Ti might not be as powerful as models with RTX 5080 and RTX 5090, but if you enable the frame-boosting DLSS 4 in games that support the feature, you can still enjoy sharp graphics and smooth frame rates. Razer Blade laptops rank among the best gaming laptops, so you'll do well with any of the configurations mentioned above. I guarantee you'll have a great time playing the best PC games on whichever discounted machine you get. For more deals, check out our guide to the best back to school laptop sales. Labor Day laptop sales — 15 early deals I'd shop ahead of September
The unofficial end of summer is just days away. That means Labor Day laptop sales are here and I'm seeing impressive discounts on some of the best laptops we've tested. As a MacBook Air user, I'm always looking for Apple deals and right now Amazon has MacBooks on sale from $799. This includes the excellent 13-inch MacBook Air (M4) for $799 and the 15-inch MacBook Air (M4) for $999. That's cheaper than the prices I saw on Prime Day and a new all-time price low for both machines. If you prefer a Windows machine, it's hard to beat Best Buy. Right now Best Buy has Windows laptops on sale from $219. I'm a fan of the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 for $899. You get a beefy machine with a 16-inch AMOLED display, Core Ultra 7 CPU, 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. If it's value you're after, I'm a big fan of the XPS 13 for $799 at Dell. This configuration packs a 13.4-inch 2K display, Intel Core Ultra 5 CPU, 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. The latter is on the paltry side for a Windows machine, but the price more than balances that out. Labor Day isn't till September 1, but below I'm tallying all the best Labor Day laptop sales I'd shop right now. Every machine I'm recommending is guaranteed to last you for several years thanks to their impressive spec sheets. (For more deals, check out our guide to the best Labor Day sales and best cheap laptop deals). Save big on this Intel Core Ultra 5-powered laptop. In addition to its CPU, this XPS 13 configuration is also equipped with 16GB of RAM, 512GB of SSD storage and a 13.4-inch 2K display with 120Hz refresh rate. The new MacBook Air is powered by Apple's latest M4 chipset. It upgrades the camera from 1080p to 12MP with Center Stage support. The M4 chipset also supports dual external monitors, even when you have the laptop's lid open. It packs a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display (2560 x 1664), Apple's M4 CPU w/ 10-core GPU, 16GB of RAM and 256GB SSD. In our MacBook Air M4 review, we said the Editor's Choice laptop is irresistible thanks to its speedy performance, sharper camera and lower starting price. The OmniBook 5 is a powerful AI-based laptop that doesn't cost a fortune. It features a gorgeous 16-inch 2K display, Core Ultra 7 255U CPU, 16GB of RAM and 1TB SSD. Whether you're using it at work or at school, it's a budget friendly mainstream machine that won't disappoint. Save on the Inspiron 16 Plus, decked out with AMD's Ryzen AI 5 340 chipset, 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. This laptop is especially a great pick for students, as it's relatively affordable and well-equipped to last for years. Plus, after your work is done for the day, you can stream your favorite shows on its 16-inch display. Want an inexpensive Copilot+ PC? This 15.6-inch laptop won't disappoint despite its low price. It features a Snapdragon X Plus CPU, 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Its 15.6-inch 1080p display is pretty standard, but at this price that's no dealbreaker. In this impressively thin, light and premium-feeling notebook, you'll find a drop dead gorgeous OLED display, Core Ultra 9-285H chipset, 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. We reviewed the smaller 15-inch model and in our Asus Vivobook S 15 Copilot+ PC review, we said the Editor's Choice laptop is a great machine that puts Microsoft on a new path to truly take on the mighty MacBook. This HP Envy x360 2-in-1 laptop features a 14-inch 2K touch display, Intel Core Ultra 7 CPU, 16GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage. Since it's a 2-in-1 device, you can use this device as a laptop or tablet. Right now it's $350 off, which is a great deal. This is one of the best Copilot+ PC deals available! This 16-inch laptop features an Intel Core Ultra 7 CPU for impressive performance and power efficiency, complemented by 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. It's all topped off with its gorgeous 120Hz AMOLED display. If you're looking for fast performance, long-lasting battery life and excellent visuals for a fair price — the Swift 16 AI stands triumphant. This configuration packs a 16-inch 3K touchscreen display, Core Ultra 7 Series 2 CPU, 16GB of RAM and 1TB SSD. This svelte PC packs enough style to make Mac fans jealous. Under the hood you'll find a Core Ultra 7 CPU, 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. There's also a 14-inch 2880 x 1800 OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. Save big on this RTX 5060-powered HP Omen 17.3" configuration, an ideal pick for casual games or graphically intensive games at lower settings. It's equipped with an AMD Ryzen AI 5 340 CPU, 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. You also get a 17.3-inch 1080p 144Hz display. If you're looking to lock in with an upgrade on the classic Aurora laptop, the 16X model is a step up (though it's also pricier). Fortunately, there's $400 off this build with Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor, 64GB of RAM, 2TB SSD and an RTX 5060 GPU. Display wise, you're looking at WQXGA with a 240Hz refresh rate. The Alienware 16 Area 51 Laptop is a new 2025 machine powered by Nvidia's new RTX 5060 GPU. This configuration also features an amazing 16-inch 2560 x 1600 240Hz LCD, Core Ultra 7-255HX CPU, 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. Yes, it's pricey, but this is one of the first discounts we've seen on Alienware's just-released laptops. The MacBook Air M1 offers fantastic performance and value. The M1 CPU never stuttered in our tests and also helped it reach over 14 hours of battery life. It features a 13.3-inch Retina display, Apple M1 CPU, 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD. In our MacBook Air M1 review, we said it offers amazing endurance and shockingly good check: sold out @ Best Buy | sold out @ Amazon The new MacBook Air is powered by Apple's latest M4 chipset. It upgrades the camera from 1080p to 12MP with Center Stage support. The M4 chipset also supports dual external monitors, even when you have the laptop's lid open.
