Agencies Around 16.51 lakh households have been benefitted from rooftop solar installations under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG:MBY) till July 2025, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said on Wednesday. The minister for new and renewable energy (MNRE) made the remarks in reply to a question in Lok Sabha. "A total of 58,01,654 no. of applications have been submitted on the National Portal and 16,50,969 no. of households have been benefitted with rooftop solar installations under the scheme as on 31.07.2025," Joshi said. The scheme is being implemented by his ministry since February 2024, and targets to achieve rooftop solar installations in one crore households in the residential sector by 2026-27, the minister stated. As per the data shared by the minister, Arunachal Pradesh has reported nil installations under the scheme, while Meghalaya and Sikkim have seen installations in single digits at 6 and 9, respectively.
As of July 2025, Maharashtra has reported highest rooftop installations under PMSG:MBY at 2,34,736, followed by 2,28,507 in Gujarat and 1,20,866 in Uttar Pradesh. As per the MNRE, state-owned SECI has received a bid of Rs 55.75/kg in the first auction for procurement of green ammonia under the SIGHT programme of National Green Hydrogen Mission. Reacting to the development, Joshi in a post on X termed it "a landmark moment in India's green energy journey!"
SECI has successfully conducted its first-ever Green Ammonia auction under the National Green Hydrogen Mission marking a new era of clean energy innovation and self-reliance, the minister said.

Hotel occupancy rates and room tariffs are set to rise this Independence Day long weekend as travellers across India head to various destinations, major industry players said. Rajesh Magow, Co-founder and Group CEO, MakeMyTrip told PTI, Independence Day has emerged as a key travel occasion over the years. "This year too, the search and booking trends point to strong intent to travel over the Independence Day weekend. With Independence Day on a Friday, travel demand appears to be peaking two days earlier, on Wednesday (13 August), giving early travellers a five-day window," he shared. HAI member hotels are well-prepared to accommodate the surge, with many already witnessing a rise in advance bookings. "Reports and trends indicate a rise in both occupancy and room rates over the long Independence Day weekend. Some properties are witnessing up to a 40 per cent surge in bookings compared to last year, with ADRs expected to be 10-15 per cent higher year-on-year," Kachru said. Chander K Baljee, CMD at Royal Orchid Hotels Ltd (ROHL), said, "We are seeing steady interest for the extended Independence Day weekend from August 14 to 17. While the booking momentum is yet to fully pick up, we anticipate strong last-minute demand, which is quite typical for long weekends in the domestic market. "Compared to the same period last year, we're observing an approximate increase of Rs 1,280 in rates. We expect the Average Room Rate (ARR) to close around Rs 6,450, which is a 7-8 per cent increase over last year's ARR of Rs 6,000 on the retail segment," he added. Juniper Green Energy gets ₹1,739 cr debt funding from Ireda for renewables
Juniper Green Energy on Wednesday said it has secured Rs 1,739 crore in debt financing from Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd (Ireda). This funding will support the growth and development of Juniper Green Energy and its subsidiaries, enabling the execution of large-scale renewable projects and strengthening its operational capacity, a company statement said. According to the statement, Juniper Green Energy has successfully secured Rs 1,739 crore in debt financing from Ireda. This round of financing follows Juniper Green Energy's successful $1 billion debt raise last year, from leading financial institutions, including Power Finance Corporation Ltd (PFC), DBS Bank, HSBC Bank, and Ireda. "This funding from Ireda marks another important step in our growth journey. We remain committed to scaling renewable energy infrastructure that is sustainable and aligned with India's energy goals," Parag Agrawal, Chief Financial Officer, Juniper Green Energy, said. Juniper Green Energy currently operates a total capacity of 1.45 GWp (as of June 27, 2025). The company has recently commissioned the 103 MWp solar component of its hybrid plant at Karanja, in Maharashtra (about 16 months ahead of its scheduled commercial operation dates) and has also partially commissioned 25 MW of its 50 MW wind project in Gujarat, almost three months ahead of schedule.
