MIDC floats bids for CETP project after 8 years
The MIDC recently floated a tender for the project, which will be located within the Nashik Municipal Corporation limits. Executive engineer for MIDC's Nashik region Jaywant Pawar, while talking to TOI, said they expect the tender process to conclude and the work order to be issued to the chosen contractor within the next two months. The CETP is projected to take a year to complete and be commissioned, aiming to be operational before the Simhastha Kumbh Mela, scheduled between 2026 and 2028.
The project is estimated to cost Rs13 crore. State govt also approved the funds for the project. The last date for filing the bid is June 23. The bids are to be opened the next day on June 24.
The CETP project is to be constructed by the MIDC to treat industrial effluent of over 150 plating units located in its Ambad industrial areas in the jurisdiction of the NMC. The project will help to reduce the pollution level of the Godavari river as industrial effluent is to be diverted to the CETP.
There was demand from the Nashik Industries & Manufacturers' Association (NIMA) and Ambad Industries & Manufacturers' Association (AIMA) to construct the CETP project at the earliest to overcome the treatment of the effluent generated by the plating units in the MIDC areas in Nashik city.
Earlier this year in Feb, during his interaction with the industries, member secretary of the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) Avinash Dhakane had expressed concerns over the delay in construction of the proposed CETP project at Ambad MIDC areas. He also assured to look into the matter and boost the project.

Action ordered against firm for project delays
Kanpur: District magistrate Kanpur Nagar, Jitendra Pratap Singh, took serious note of the absence of CEO of VA Tech Wabag Ltd. Shailesh Kumar and project manager Dev Anand during the Mld CETP review meeting on Tuesday. Expressing displeasure and taking cognisance of the negligence in their work, the DM directed secretary Jeteta to take necessary action against them. During the review, it was found that the laying of a 207-metre-long pipeline in zone-1 had been pending for the previous month. The stipulated timeline given to NMCG had expired, but the work remained incomplete. Annoyed by the extremely slow progress compared to the set targets, the DM directed the immediate recovery of a fine of Rs 40 crore from the company. He also instructed secretary Jeteta to fix the company's responsibility for the delays. The meeting revealed that the company had not been lifting sludge since June. In response, the DM directed secretary Jeteta to issue a show cause notice to the company, warning against future occurrences. He reprimanded VA Tech Wabag Ltd. for its negligence in sludge management, emphasizing that the work must adhere to protocols and environmental standards. Furthermore, the district magistrate directed secretary Jeteta to prepare a detailed report on all obstacles affecting the CETP operations and send it immediately to the Namami Gange Project office to ensure a quick resolution. The original deadline for the project was set for October 31, 2024. The project, being constructed by the Government of India at a cost of approximately Rs 600 crore, is set to play a crucial role in the industrial and environmental development of the region. Upon completion, it will significantly contribute to making the district pollution-free. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). Nashik: State industry minister Uday Samant said on Monday that automotive major Mahindra & Mahindra has given its consent to expand at Advan in Igatpuri taluka of Nashik district. The company has urged the state industry department to expedite the allotment of 350 acres at the location. Samant said M&M had written to the state industry department regarding its expansion plans at Advan. Accordingly, the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) decided to allocate the land for the automotive major's expansion, Samant added. Samant made the announcement during the inauguration of the Skill Development Centre, the first such centre established by MIDC. Rajiv Goyal, the chief financial officer of the auto and farm sector at Mahindra & Mahindra, recently submitted a letter to the state industry department seeking consent for the expansion on 350 acres at Advan in Igatpuri. Additionally, Samant said that MIDC is developing a permanent exhibition centre on 93 acres in Nashik city, with the land owned by the Nashik Municipal Corporation. He described the centre as wall-less and intended for use for over 11 years, excluding one year designated for the Kumbh Mela, which occurs every 12 years. "We will soon develop the permanent exhibition centre in Nashik city," Samant said, adding that a tender for the project would be floated within a month. Earlier, Samant interacted with industry representatives during his visit to the office of the Nashik Industries & Manufacturers' Association (NIMA), and assured that the bhumi pujan of the proposed common effluent treatment plant (CETP) project in the Ambad MIDC area will be conducted shortly. Samant also announced that the country's first cluster for tribal entrepreneurs is being set up at Dindori in Nashik district, with the state cabinet recently approving the allocation of 74 acres to MIDC for the project. Moreover, Samant assured that a meeting of all MLAs from Nashik district would be held to discuss various issues related to the industrial department. During his meeting with industry stakeholders, Samant said the MIDC has initiated a drive to remove encroachments along roads. "We already started an anti-encroachment drive in MIDC areas in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and it will be started soon in Nashik district," he said.
