Bezos-Scott's divorce after 25 years
In 2019, Bezos and Scott announced their divorce in a joint statement on social media. The separation gained widespread attention not just because of Bezos's status as the world's richest man at the time, but also because of the large financial settlement involved. As part of the divorce, MacKenzie Scott received 4% of Amazon's stock, worth approximately $36 billion at the time.
The divorce settlement made Scott one of the
wealthiest women
in the world then. According to Forbes, she now has a total net worth of $30.7 billion and is among top 10 World's most powerful women.
MacKenzie Scott's new role as a philanthropist
Since the divorce, Scott has become widely known for her philanthropic work. She pledged to give away most of her wealth and has already donated over $19 billion to various causes through her foundation, Yield Giving. Scott is also part of The Giving Pledge – co-founded by Warren Buffett, Melinda French Gates and Bill Gates.
Her donations have gone to causes such as education, healthcare, racial equity, and poverty alleviation — often made without restrictions or publicity. Scott has kept a low public profile but has emerged as one of the most generous private donors in recent history.
Bezos, meanwhile, has focused on his business ventures and personal life, including his relationship with Sánchez, which became public shortly after his divorce from Scott. The Venice wedding now signals a new beginning for the tech entrepreneur.

Probe fraudulent tank truck registrations, HC tells govt

Patna: The Patna high court has asked the additional chief secretary (ACS) of state transport department to investigate allegations of fraudulent registration of LPG tank trucks in the state. The court further directed the ACS to take appropriate action against any officers found responsible, should fictitious registrations be confirmed. The order was issued on Thursday by a single bench of Justice Satyavrat Verma while hearing a writ petition filed by the LPG Bulk Transporters Association of Bihar, represented by Swarn Singh. A copy of the court's order was made available on Friday. Senior counsel Ansul and advocate Eashita Raj, representing the petitioners, informed the court that oil marketing companies (OMCs) in Bihar give preference to tank trucks (TTs) registered within the state for transporting bulk LPG by road. However, they alleged that a widespread practice has emerged of purchasing old tank trucks from neighbouring states and registering them in Bihar using fraudulent means in order to gain an unfair advantage in securing work orders from the OMCs. It was further submitted that many of these registrations were being processed without adherence to mandatory requirements such as photographing the vehicle with the transport officer while capturing GPS coordinates. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Se você sofre com dores no joelho, leia isso antes que seja apagado Receita Anti-Dores Undo The petitioners also claimed that residential addresses used for such registrations were either fictitious or existed only on paper. "These fraudulent tank truck registrations compromise the integrity of LPG logistics in Bihar," argued counsel Ansul. Terming the issue as serious, the court directed the head of the transport department to verify the alleged fraudulent registrations. The matter has been listed for further hearing on Oct 13.

Pawar suggests patent to avoid Prada-like situations, Sambhajiraje terms it ‘daylight robbery'

Kolhapur: NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar and former Rajya Sabha member Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati, the descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, on Friday criticized Italian fashion house Prada for showcasing Kolhapuri chappals at their Milan show without acknowledging the traditional Indian craft's origin or crediting its artisans. "Such misappropriation can be stopped by getting a patent for the product. Otherwise, nothing can be done. What happened is absolutely wrong. Getting a patent and replying appropriately can be the way forward," Pawar said. Sambhajiraje said by failing to acknowledge the origin, history and craftsmanship of Kolhapur's artisans, Prada's actions amounted to cultural dispossession, going beyond mere design inspiration. "Rajarshi Shahu Chhatrapati Maharaj granted royal patronage to Kolhapur's craftsmen, catalysing the flourishing of this footwear tradition. The Kolhapuri chappal isn't just a fashion statement, it embodies generations of craftsmanship, community livelihoods, and cultural identity. Copying the design, concealing its true provenance and marketing it under a global luxury label is nothing short of a daylight robbery of our shared legacy," Sambhajiraje stated in a statement. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like A failing liver is taking my son away from me! Air India venture sacks four seniors for office party soon after plane crash

Four senior executives at Air India SATS (AISATS) have been asked to resign after a video of an office party in Gurugram went viral, sparking widespread outrage. The video surfaced just days after the devastating Air India flight AI171 crash on June 12, 2025, which killed 259 people and left the nation in mourning. The clip, which featured AISATS Chief Operating Officer Abraham Zachariah and other staff members dancing to loud music, was widely circulated on social media. The timing of the celebration—held shortly after one of India's deadliest aviation disasters—was widely condemned as tone-deaf and deeply insensitive. Flight AI171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner en route to London, crashed into a hostel for medical students at Ahmedabad's BJ Medical College shortly after takeoff. Of the 260 people on board, only one survived. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 'Swing is King': Mr. Hemant's Strategy Finally Explained in Free Session TradeWise Learn More Undo — TheSquind (@TheSquind) As grieving families awaited the repatriation of victims' remains, the video drew sharp criticism for its perceived lack of empathy. Many users on social media slammed the company for insensitivity and poor judgment. Live Events In response, AISATS issued a statement saying, 'At AISATS, we stand in solidarity with the families affected by the tragic loss of AI171 and deeply regret the lapse in judgment reflected in a recent internal video. The behaviour does not align with our values, and firm disciplinary action has been taken against those responsible as we reaffirm our commitment to empathy, professionalism, and accountability.' While AISATS did not specify when the party occurred, sources confirmed that four senior staff members were terminated for their direct involvement in organizing the event. AISATS is a joint venture between Air India, now owned by the Tata Group, and Singapore-based SATS Ltd., a global leader in airport services. The company emphasized that disciplinary action had been taken to uphold its ethical standards, but the damage to its public image amid a national tragedy has already drawn significant backlash.
