Russian security announces destruction of Ukrainian facilities for production of missile systems

Saba Yemen2 days ago
Moscow - Saba:
The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced today Thursday that, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, it had thwarted a secret Ukrainian missile program aimed at developing "Sapsan" ballistic missiles capable of targeting deep inside Russia.
Russian authorities confirmed that the joint operation resulted in the destruction of Ukrainian facilities specialized in military industries, which were being used to develop and manufacture these missiles. They pointed out that the preemptive information obtained by the security services allowed them to determine the precise coordinates of these facilities before carrying out the strikes with high accuracy.
The RT channel quoted the Russian Federal Security Service as saying in a statement that 'Ukraine relied in the development of this missile program on technologies and military stockpiles remaining from the Soviet era, within what it described as 'a secret project to enhance its long-range offensive capabilities.''
The statement added: 'With authorization from NATO representatives, Ukraine planned to use the 'Sapsan' system to launch an attack deep into Russian territory, but thanks to the joint efforts of the Russian Federal Security Service and the Russian Armed Forces, the plans to develop the Ukrainian missile program were thwarted.'
Moscow confirmed that the entire technical base for the production of Ukraine's long-range ballistic missiles was completely destroyed, which constitutes 'a decisive preemptive strike' to prevent any future threat of this kind.
Reports indicated that the production of "Sapsan" missiles was taking place at defense facilities located in the Dnipropetrovsk and Sumy regions in eastern Ukraine, which were targeted in the recent military operation.
