KUALA LUMPUR, June 25 (Bernama) -- In an increasingly digital world, insurance agents must cultivate strong digital competencies, embrace adaptability, and leverage online communication platforms to navigate emerging challenges and shift public perception away from outdated stereotypes rooted in traditional face-to-face interactions.
Recognising these challenges, AIA Malaysia launched the AIA Elite Academy (AEA) in 2018 -- an exclusive, first-of-its-kind talent development programme aimed at cultivating a new generation of high-performing insurance agents, known as AIA Life Planners in AIA.
The programme features a time-tested syllabus, best-in-class training, and the essential tools and skill sets to help Life Planners grow professionally and thrive as successful entrepreneurs.
AIA Malaysia chief executive officer Ben Ng said the company has continuously enhanced the programme over the past seven years to make it more attractive and relevant to the times, with the ultimate goal of inspiring Life Planners to build lasting careers with AIA by fostering long-term engagement and professional growth.
Hence, this year, AIA has introduced Elite 2.0 and Elite Premier Leader (EPL) 2.0 -- enhanced programmes focusing on stronger income opportunities and advanced business development skills.
Ng said Elite 2.0 is designed for fresh graduates to kick-start their careers with start-up capital support, while empowering them to build a sustainable income through commissions and bonuses.
'Elite 2.0 is also tailored for career switchers, senior management professionals, and established business owners – offering an industry-leading start-up capital of up to 150 per cent of annual income and monthly income matching of up to RM100,000,' he said in a recent group interview.
Meanwhile, Ng said EPL 2.0 is crafted for individuals ready to lead teams, accelerating their leadership journey with sustainable income and advanced opportunities within 24 months, with the aim of building a lasting and impactful business.
'We understand that the traditional view of insurance agents is often linked to outdated methods and limited growth. At AIA, we have completely redefined that narrative,' he said.

GENERAL KUALA LUMPUR, June 25 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Communications is among three ministries recognised for successfully implementing reforms to reduce bureaucratic red tape, earning a special certificate of appreciation for the achievement. Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar said the ministry significantly improved the approval process for foreign film scripts, reducing the timeline from 30 days to just seven, resulting in regulatory cost savings of up to RM2.4 million per production. "This, in turn, enhances Malaysia's competitiveness as a preferred destination for international film production," he said in a Facebook post today. The Ministry's secretary-general, Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa, received the special certificate from Shamsul Azri at a ceremony in Putrajaya yesterday. Another ministry recognised for its achievement is the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), where reforms were driven through the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), which successfully reduced the approval time for Electric Vehicle Charging Bay Plan Certifications from 28 days to just three. He added that JBPM also expedited the approval process for non-system-based technical plan certifications, reducing it from 30 days to just seven. 'This was achieved through streamlined procedures and the strengthening of the e-Premis system and development of a central data repository, resulting in annual regulatory cost savings of RM1.776 million,' he said. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) successfully reduced barriers to financing in the aerospace sector, generating RM17 million in regulatory savings for 50 small and medium enterprises by boosting production capacity by up to 30 percent. 'Gross profit margins increased by over 20 percent through automation and certification, further strengthening the supply chain and creating more high-skilled jobs. Reforms are being intensified and improvements accelerated,' he said.

Gobind emphasised Malaysia's commitment to promoting responsible AI governance, encouraging regional partnerships, and ensuring that the country's progress aligns with globally recognised ethical standards. 'As AI continues to evolve, meaningful dialogue and international cooperation are essential for building a future that is inclusive, secure, and beneficial to all,' he said during the high-level ministerial panel titled Fostering Global Dialogue on AI for a Collective Future at the UNESCO GFEAI 2025. bootstrap slideshow Earlier, Gobind participated in a panel discussion titled 'From Readiness Assessment to Enhanced Institutional, Technical and Human Capacities in AI.' During the session, he highlighted Malaysia's achievements, including strengthening nationwide connectivity, adopting a multi-faceted approach to infrastructure, talent, and trust development, and introducing data centre regulations to position Malaysia as a regional hub for data infrastructure. 'I am confident that many more commendable milestones lie ahead. That said, I firmly believe that the next phase of advancement must be underpinned by robust and forward-looking policies and regulations. 'At the Ministry of Digital, our commitment to driving this agenda remains unwavering. We will continue to strive for a digital future that is inclusive, secure, and sustainable,' he said. Poor Communication Blamed For KDEBWM's Record Of Highest Unpaid Summonses
GENERAL SHAH ALAM, June 25 (Bernama) -- Poor communication in the delivery of summons notifications by subcontractors has been identified as one of the factors that caused KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (KDEBWM) to record the highest number of unpaid summonses. KDEBWM, in a statement, said most of its fleet is operated by legally appointed subcontractors. Under the contracts, the subcontractors are responsible for any summonses issued to their respective vehicles or drivers. 'According to the Road Transport Department (JPJ) procedures, if a summons is not settled within three months, a notice will be sent to the registered owner, in this case KDEBWM, with an additional two months given for resolution. 'Upon receiving the official notification, KDEBWM promptly took action by conducting internal checks and gradually resolving the summonses. To date, 13,000 summonses have successfully been settled,' the statement read. KDEBWM stated that as a solid waste and cleansing management company, it operates more than 1,500 vehicles, including compactor trucks and Roll-On/Roll-Off (RoRo) lorries across Selangor, working around the clock to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and service. As a subsidiary of the Selangor government, KDEBWM explained that given its large scale of operations, statistics on unpaid summonses must be viewed holistically. 'For example, two summonses per truck per day could amount to nearly 3,000 summonses in a month, and more than 9,000 summonses in three months if hundreds of active vehicles are involved every day,' the statement said. KDEBWM in the same statement also expressed its appreciation for JPJ's role and responsibility in ensuring road safety. The company reiterated its full commitment to strengthening its internal monitoring systems, streamlining communication with subcontractors, and ensuring that all road safety regulations are consistently and ethically adhered to.
