Accelerate AMRUT 2.0 works in Anantapur: Collector
Anantapur: Collector Dr. Vinod Kumar V., IAS, directed officials to expedite the ongoing works under AMRUT 2.0 during the District Advisory Monitoring Committee (DAMC) meeting held on Tuesday at the Mini Conference Hall of the Anantapur Collectorate.
The Collector emphasized the need for swift implementation of projects in Anantapur, Guntakal, and Tadipatri municipalities under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme. He instructed Public Health Engineering officials to take a proactive approach to complete works under the Hybrid Annuity Model and to install display boards in line with the Collectorate setup across all municipalities, with designated in-charge officers for supervision.
He also urged officials to focus on Yoga Andhra registrations and land surveys, recommending a drive-mode operation with regular monitoring. The meeting was attended by Public Health Executive Engineer Adinarayana, APSPDCL SE Seshadri Shekhar, Urban Development SE Chandrasekhar, Horticulture AD Firoz Khan, Public Health DEs Ketan Kumar Reddy and Jyothi, and several Municipal Commissioners.

Collectors exhort people to adopt lifestyle sans plastic
Plantation drives were conducted on Thursday to mark the World Environment Day celebrations across Anantapur, Nandyal, Kurnool, and Chittoor districts. The District Collectors and officials planted saplings with a call to the people to plant more trees and avoid usage of plastic. In Anantapur district, the drive was led by District Collector Dr Vinod Kumar V., Raptadu MLA Paritala Sunitha and others at Nagaravanam in Pampanuru village of Atmakuru mandal. At the occasion, the Collector and MLA urged the people to plant saplings in a big way and urged them to adopt a lifestyle sans plastic. Mr. Kumar said the ban on single use plastic would also be implemented in rural areas of the district and steps would be taken to control usage of plastic. The Collector asked the officials to not give bouquets at government functions but instead give saplings. He also said that officials should stop using plastic water bottles during meetings and bring their own steel water bottles. In Nandyal district, Collector Rajakumari Gania said an action plan has been drawn to plant four lakh saplings across the district and the focus was to protect the planted saplings. She said efforts are being made to take up avenue, block and bund plantation and saplings are available at forest and NREGA nurseries in the district. Ms. Gania said that burning plastic along with waste releases harmful chemicals into the air leading to health issues and urged the people to avoid usage of plastic. She was speaking at the plantation drive held at Municipal High School in Nandyal town along with Minister for Minority Welfare N. Md. Farooq. In Kurnool, a plantation drive was taken up in Nagaravanam at Gargeyapuram on the outskirts of the district. Collector P. Ranjith Basha planted saplings and asked the people to avoid plastic. In Chittoor, plantation drive was taken up in Neeva Nagaravanam on the outskirts of the town in which Chittoor MLA G. Jagan Mohan took part. Saplings were also planted by the Sri Sathya Sai and Nandyal district police.

2,000 participate in yoga practice at Tripurantakam
Tripurantakam: Prakasam district joint collector Ronanki Gopala Krishna announced that the government is conducting a month-long Yogaandhra campaign to create awareness about yoga, with the goal of organising yoga programmes across the state involving two crore people on International Yoga Day on June 21. A yoga practice programme was held on Tuesday morning at the Sri Sri Bala Tripurasundari Devi temple premises in Tripurantakam as part of the Yogaandhra-2025 campaign. Joint Collector Gopala Krishna, Markapur Sub-Collector Sahadit Venkata Trivinag, Yerragondapalem constituency TDP in-charge Guduri Erixion Babu, the temple chairman IV Subba Rao, and others participated in the programme. Speaking on the occasion, JC Gopala Krishna mentioned that the state government has set a target of 5 lakh people participating in the yoga programme in Visakhapatnam on June 21st, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu will participate. As part of the Yogaandhra campaign, he explained that four tourist destinations in the district-- Gundlakamma, Tripurantakam, Pakala, and Kothapatnam Beach-- have been selected for yoga programmes on the International Yoga Day. He emphasised that yoga should be part of everyone's daily life, as regular practice leads to an active lifestyle and healthy living while helping prevent various ailments. Regarding the campaign's progress, the JC noted that approximately 2,000 people participated in yoga practice at the programme in Tripurantakam, under the guidance of Patanjali yoga guru Bala Subramanyam. He reported that about 9.66 lakh people have registered in the district so far. He said that one hundred master trainers have been trained in yoga, who have subsequently trained 6415 people. These trainers are now providing yoga training and awareness at the village level, he added.

Collector inspects ration shop, shares meal with beneficiary family
Anantapur: District Collector Dr Vinod Kumar V emphasized that ration distribution through government fair price shops should be carried out efficiently and within the prescribed timings. As part of the relaunch of the public distribution system (PDS), he inspected a ration shop in Kammuru village of Kudair Mandal on Sunday. During his visit, the Collector instructed officials to ensure all ration goods are delivered with accurate weights. He stated that distribution should take place every month from the 1st to the 15th, between 8 am and 12 pm, and again from 4 pm to 8 pm. He personally inquired with cardholders about the quality and weight of rice, and their experiences transporting goods from the shop to their homes. The Collector also visited several cardholders' homes to verify the quality and usage of rationed rice. At Chittemma's house, he checked the number of kilograms received and whether any money was paid. He asked whether other items like sugar were collected. At Chittemma's residence, the Collector tasted rice cooked with PDS supplies, joined by RDO and family members. While there, he interacted with Chittemma's granddaughter, R Deeksha, who mentioned she had failed one SSC subject and was currently not studying. Encouraging her to continue her education, the Collector directed the VRO and Tahsildar to speak with the family and arrange for her admission into Intermediate after clearing SSC. He assured that the government would support her education through the 'Ananta Animutyalu' scheme, ensuring she faces no financial obstacles. He further encouraged all girls to continue their education in government colleges. Another girl, Anitha, requested a seat in Kasturba Gandhi School for Grade 6, and Tummla Yogashri submitted a petition for an Intermediate seat at Kurugunta College. Several locals submitted petitions regarding their personal grievances, requesting prompt solutions from the Collector. Anantapur RDO Keshava Naidu, Tahsildar Mahaboob Basha, Kudair and Atmakur Mandal CSDT Lakshmidevi, and other officials accompanied the Collector during the inspection.
