Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky have struggled to begin the 2025 WNBA season, securing a 5-11 record through 16 games, good for fifth in the Eastern Conference.

Still, the Sky appear to have turned a corner in their last three games, going 2-1 during that stretch. However, they've been without center Kamilla Cardoso for the past two, with Elizabeth Williams recently stepping into the starting role.
Cardoso temporarily left Chicago to join the Brazil National Team for the Women's AmeriCup in Chile. And Cardoso continued to shine.
In Brazil's 106-49 win over El Salvador, Cardoso tallied 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting and 10 rebounds, marking her second double-double of the group stage.
The FIBA Women's AmeriCup shared Cardoso's latest statline on Instagram with the caption: "Another day, another double-double for Kamilla Cardoso 💪."

Reese reacted to her teammate's performance by sharing the AmeriCup's post on her Instagram Story.

Brazil went a perfect 4-0 in the group stage to advance to the quarterfinals. Through those four games, Cardoso averaged 11.8 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. Her teammate, Damiris Dantas, who also plays for the Indiana Fever, ranks second in AmeriCup scoring at 18.8 points per game.
Although the Sky have struggled this season, Cardoso has shown growth in her second year in the WNBA. The 6-foot-9 center out of South Carolina is averaging 12.7 points on 56.1% shooting, along with 6.6 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game, all while playing more than four minutes fewer per night compared to her rookie season.

Up next for Chicago, a trip to Minneapolis to take on the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Flamengo reject Everton's first offer for Wesley

Flamengo are not giving up easily on their talented fullback, Wesley. The player is being courted by Roma and Everton – the two clubs owned by the Friedkin Group are working in synergy to complete his transfer. Advertisement The idea would be for Everton to sign Wesley on a permanent deal and then loan him out to Roma. In the meantime, reports from Brazil, S1Live in particular, claim that Everton's first offer for Wesley was turned down by Flamengo.

The Fever won the Commissioner's Cup without Caitlin Clark. Here's how to watch their next game

The Fever won the Commissioner's Cup without Caitlin Clark. Here's how to watch their next game Even with Caitlin Clark sidelined by a nagging groin strain, the Indiana Fever managed to knock off the menacing Minnesota Lynx, league leaders in offensive, defensive and net ratings, in the Commissioner's Cup. Indiana seized the WNBA's in-season tournament through an odds-breaking road upset. Next up is reigning MVP A'ja Wilson and her talented if mercurial Las Vegas Aces. Clark remains out Thursday night and will miss her fourth straight game. How to watch Las Vegas Aces at Indiana Fever Venue: Gainbridge Fieldhouse — Indianapolis Advertisement Time: 7 p.m. ET, Thursday TV: Prime Video (national), WTHR Channel 13 and Vegas 34 (regional) Streaming: Fubo (in market, try for free) Watching in person? Get tickets on StubHub. This 2025 Fever season is particularly strange. Clark has found towering heights (her pyrotechnics against the then-undefeated New York Liberty) and gnarly lows (1-for-23 on 3-pointers in the recent ill-fated Western Conference road trip). Sure-thing Hall of Famer DeWanna Bonner came in for a veteran boost, only to find herself on waivers. The team is struggling to stay above .500, yet it just conquered the W's most dominant force. Advertisement The Fever lifted the Commissioner's Cup in Minnesota off the strength of a lopsided second quarter. They held the league's most efficient scorers to just seven points in the period, as Sophie Cunningham drilled two 3s and Natasha Howard made six free throws. Indiana's defense was thoroughly title-worthy on Tuesday, stifling MVP favorite Napheesa Collier inside (6-for-18, five turnovers, one tense confrontation with Aliyah Boston) while clamping down the perimeter. Like Indiana, Las Vegas arrives with a tempered 8-8 record. Becky Hammon's group, a semifinal-or-better fixture for the last six years, is now ninth in net rating per Basketball Reference. Wilson is still putting up points at 21.6 points per game, but she's doing so on career-worst shooting splits and turnover rates. The Aces did control their last matchup against the Fever, though, an 89-81 home win with 19-for-21 free-throw shooting. Chelsea Gray had an efficient 18 points and two steals in that contest. The forthcoming 2025 All-Star Game will be played at the Fever's home venue. Among guards, Clark finished with the second-highest weighted score (and the most fan votes), while her teammate Kelsey Mitchell came in fifth and Vegas' Jackie Young in 10th. Wilson had the second-highest weighted score in the frontcourt; Boston was fourth. Best player to wear both jerseys: Danielle Robinson, the shifty and energetic defensive specialist. Natalie Williams deserves a shoutout here, though. The three-time All-WNBA center made four total All-Star appearances for these two franchises … but that was back with the Aces' first predecessor, the now-defunct Utah Starzz. Lakers Trade Target Deandre Ayton Reportedly Threw Tantrums In Locker Room, Which Led To $25.5 Million Buyout

Lakers Trade Target Deandre Ayton Reportedly Threw Tantrums In Locker Room, Which Led To $25.5 Million Buyout originally appeared on Fadeaway World. Portland Trail Blazers center Deandre Ayton has garnered a lot of interest from teams in the free agency market, primarily being linked in trade rumors with the Los Angeles Lakers. While the big man is in the process of completing his buyout, The Athletic's Jason Quick revealed an interesting story regarding why the 26-year-old is in such a situation in the first place. He wrote: Advertisement "But in the end, they couldn't live with his bad ways. The tardiness to team flights and practices, according to a team source. The skipping of rehabilitation appointments. Fans saw him slam chairs when he was taken out of games. And a team source said there were tantrums in the locker room when he was sidelined for poor effort." Ayton's place with the Trail Blazers seemed fairly solid. After a great start to his career with the Phoenix Suns, the center seemed to set out on his own. Unfortunately, his time in Portland wasn't as fruitful as the team repeatedly ended seasons in the lower rung of the West. Ayton's regular-season averages of 14.4 points and 10.2 rebounds are quite impressive, especially if you're the Lakers and have a dire need for a starting center. With Clint Capela headed to the Rockets and Brook Lopez signing with the cross-city rivals, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Purple and Gold have effectively whiffed on most of their priority big man targets in free agency. In light of this, Ayton's numbers and performance, along with his connection with Doncic's agent, Bill Duffy, make him a favorable target. Advertisement But Quick's article reveals a lot of interesting aspects about the center that could become a matter of concern for the Purple and Gold as they continue to pursue him. Ayton's poor professionalism and work ethic could be largely detrimental to their title aspirations if they are to sign him. His temper tantrums may also not be conducive to building camaraderie within the locker room, a critical aspect of being part of a team, especially given how long the regular season is. The Lakers are in a very fickle situation to start off the free agency period. With immense pressure to form a title-contending team, courtesy of LeBron James, the Purple and Gold are yet to make significant moves to inspire such confidence. While they are still more than likely to proceed with signing Ayton, if the opportunity presents itself, the team will still be in need of backup centers to fill out their frontcourt. Advertisement With the addition of Jake LaRavia from the Sacramento Kings being the only move in free agency thus far, the Lakers are in a tough spot. But with a lot of offseason left to go, the front office still has some flexibility with proceeding with the roster construction process.
