On Friday, RCMP confirmed the death of Bourgeois, 34, who departed from the Pointe-du-Chêne wharf on a solo fishing trip early in the afternoon on July 24.
Sgt. Pierre-Luc Hache said foul play was not suspected, and an autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death.
family posted the news about Bourgeois on Facebook after his body was pulled from the Northumberland Strait on Thursday evening.
"We are extremely saddened, but beyond relieved he has been found," the family said.
"Luc was recovered at sea by his family, who had been diligently searching for him since the time of his disappearance. We brought him home."
RCMP had ended the official search for Bourgeois, but volunteers continued to search in boats and a helicopter. They also walked shorelines and used drones.

Police received 'multiple' calls before Ladysmith, B.C., crash sent 2 to hospital

Police on Vancouver Island say they've arrested a driver after a head-on crash at a highway intersection in Ladysmith, B.C., on Saturday. Nanaimo RCMP say they received multiple calls about an aggressive driver of a Ram 1500 on the Trans-Canada Highway in the minutes before the truck crashed head-on with a Nissan Sentra. Police say the crash occurred at the intersection of the highway and Timberlands Road in Ladysmith around 7 p.m. Saturday. Mounties say the truck was reported to be speeding and hitting other vehicles while running red lights, and the crash happened at a "high rate of speed" after the Ram 1500 allegedly ran a red light, which they say caused significant front end damage to the smaller car. After the crash the truck kept going in the wrong direction in the northbound lane before hitting a median, RCMP say, and the driver fled before being picked up by police. Police say both people in the Nissan were taken to hospital by B.C. Emergency Health Services, and investigators are looking to speak with people who may have seen the truck swerving onto sidewalks, running red lights and hitting a maroon-coloured sedan on Aug. 2 just before 7 p.m.

Motorcyclist killed in crash with commercial truck: Langley RCMP

Mounties in Langley say speed was a factor in a crash that killed a motorcyclist on Highway 1 Sunday night. First responders were called to the westbound lanes of the highway between 264th and 248th streets just before 8:30 p.m., after a collision involving a motorcycle and a commercial truck travelling in the same direction, according to police. 'Despite the rapid arrival of BC Emergency Health Services and Township of Langley Fire crews, and the administration of life-saving measures, the motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene,' the Langley RCMP wrote in a news release Monday. Collision analysts, B.C. Highway Patrol and the local RCMP detachment were called in to investigate and the highway was closed for several hours as a result, but has since re-opened. 'Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the individual who lost their life,' Sgt. Zynal Sharoom said, in the release. Police asked anyone who witnessed the crash or has dash camera video to call the detachment at 604-532-3200.
