Champions of Dignity: King Abdullah II and Princess Majda Ra'ad's Legacy of Disability Advocacy in Jordan

Nations often showcase their wealth through natural resources, exceptional human capital, and scientific achievements. The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, though modest in natural resources compared to its neighbors like the Gulf States, possesses extraordinary wealth of a different kind. This wealth was recently highlighted through the Jordanian-German joint sponsorship of the 2025 Global Summit for Disability—an event that emerged from years of dedicated leadership and advocacy.Jordan's greatest asset, beyond its human capital, is its leadership—particularly a leader who exemplifies being a great human before being a great king. His Majesty King Abdullah II's most distinguished achievement is his unwavering advocacy for human security, especially concerning people with disabilities. While the principles of human security have long been integral to Hashemite leadership, they have flourished under King Abdullah II's guidance. His administration has introduced comprehensive legislation supporting the rights of people with disabilities, ensuring Jordan's commitment to relevant international agreements and conventions. This progressive approach has fostered specialized organizations and strengthened existing institutions dedicated to serving people with various disabilities, emphasizing their dignity, rights, and inclusion in all aspects of life—particularly education and employment. This humanitarian Hashemite vision was brilliantly championed by the family of HRH Prince Ra'ad bin Zeid, especially the late HRH Princess Majda Ra'ad. Her sincere dedication spanning over five decades to addressing the needs of people with disabilities through her leadership of the Al-Hussein Society - Jordan Center for Training and Inclusion (AHS) remains a legacy. This commitment received deserved recognition when the Ministry of Social Development selected AHS to participate in the Global Disability Summit and when the AHS school was officially renamed "Princess Majda Ra'ad School for Differentiated Education" during the organization's annual meeting on April 10, 2025—a school where education is customized to each student's unique potential. It is essential to highlight AHS's achievements as an exemplary model worldwide. The organization provides extensive services with limited resources and staff, reaching thousands within its facilities and in the field. AHS serves Jordanians and refugees who have found a safe haven in Jordan, both in camps and in surrounding communities.AHS's accomplishments offer valuable insights for addressing prevalent challenges in public services. Notable examples include their emphasis on comprehensive rehabilitation and educational services, incorporating regular counseling within the school schedule to empower children and promote healthy mental and psychological well-being. Despite operating with a modest budget and a small but versatile staff, AHS reached approximately 4,000 persons with disabilities and their caregivers in 2024, including refugees living in camps.Perhaps AHS's greatest achievement—one that truly embodies the vision, passion, and final wish of the late Princess Majda—has been transforming children's tears of sorrow into tears of joy. This transformation occurred through expanding the school from serving only through second grade to providing a complete six-year elementary education. Simultaneously, AHS has worked diligently to make all public and private schools accessible and to train future teachers from various universities with essential knowledge and skills. AHS's impact on higher education extends beyond teacher training; the organization introduced occupational therapy to Jordan and established the first academic programs in the Middle East. Finally, AHS's newly developed application, the "Ra'ad Platform for Community-based Inclusive Development (CBID)," connects families with nearby services, further enhancing the conditions and opportunities for people with disabilities. These remarkable achievements by the compassionate and dedicated late Princess Majda Ra'ad brilliantly translate King Abdullah II's advocacy for human security into tangible reality. As we reflect on the exceptional wealth of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, one cannot help but hope that the presidency of AHS will soon be filled by another compassionate member of the Hashemite Family—someone inspired by and committed to advancing His Majesty King Abdullah II's advocacy for human security.

Safadi: Jordan Will Not Stop Supporting Our People in Gaza - Jordan News

Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives, Ahmad Safadi, declared that the world is silently witnessing some of the most horrific crimes in history—killings and starvation in Gaza—that expose the brutal face of the occupying power and violate all principles of humanity and international law. اضافة اعلان His remarks came on Monday during his sponsorship of a workshop titled "Legal Frameworks for Climate Change and the Energy Transition in Jordan", organized by the Jordanian Masarat Center for Development and Progress. Safadi emphasized that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, will remain firmly aligned with the Palestinian cause and will continue its support in delivering aid to the people of Gaza. He affirmed Jordan's commitment to intensifying efforts to stop the war and its rejection of any unilateral actions in the West Bank, warning that continued aggression could drag the region into chaos. On the workshop's climate-related themes, Safadi said that Jordan, under royal leadership, is committed to a clear vision for a greener future, affirming that legislation is the cornerstone of this transition. Parliament, he noted, is responsible for developing laws that meet evolving climate needs and serve future generations. He pointed out that climate change is a tangible reality that impacts natural resources, food and water security, public health, and the national economy. It increases pressure on essential resources—especially water and energy—which are critical sectors for a country like Jordan that faces complex environmental and economic challenges. Despite limited resources, he stated, Jordan has always been at the forefront of adopting a balanced and participatory approach to climate and energy issues. He added that transitioning in the energy sector is not just about moving from traditional to clean energy sources, but also about creating a comprehensive legislative system that encourages investment, provides incentives, ensures fairness, and achieves both energy and economic security. Safadi stressed the need to strengthen cooperation between the legislative and executive branches, and highlighted the importance of involving civil society, the private sector, universities, and research institutions to ensure realistic and actionable policy-making. He concluded by affirming that tackling climate change requires more than policies and intentions—it demands clear, flexible, and enforceable legislation that includes incentives and engages all sectors of society, especially youth and women. For his part, Talal Ghunaimat, Executive Director of the Jordanian Masarat Foundation, said that climate change is now closely linked to development crises and social justice, placing a greater responsibility on parliamentarians to understand these challenges and craft solutions rooted in human rights and dignity for vulnerable communities. Ghunaimat added that climate justice requires bold parliamentary discourse that challenges unfair policies and proposes empowering, equitable alternatives. A truly fair environmental future, he stressed, can only be achieved through effective political and social partnerships. Meanwhile, Dina Kasbi, Program Director at the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, stated that climate change has evolved into both a humanitarian and political issue, calling for an integrated legislative response. She added that strengthening the ability of parliamentarians to analyze environmental policies is one of the foundation's key areas of work, as it plays a crucial role in drafting just, responsive legislation. At the close of the first day of the workshop, Ghunaimat expressed gratitude to Speaker Safadi for his support, stating that the path to real environmental transformation does not lie in conferences or slogans alone—but in institutional action and partnerships with international allies, all in the pursuit of a future that leaves no one behind.

A study by U.S. universities estimates the death toll at approximately 130,000. — (Anadolu)

The GM of Jobkins Center for Strategic Studies, an expert and strategic and economic analyst, engineer Mohannad Abbas hadadin, said that the phone call between His Majesty The King and President Trump yesterday was only after the period of starvation witnessed by the world for the residents of Gaza, where everyone condemned it with words and statements that did not provide a loaf of bread or a bottle of milk for an infant, but the Jordanian action on the ground under the directives of His Majesty The King, which began a few days ago by sending food shipments of flour, milk and others through land and air, which was carried out by the Eagles of our armed forces against the Israelis to break the blockade starvation, and a little while ago and after the phone call of His Majesty with the American president, in which His Majesty used all His diplomatic relations during his visit to the United States and Canada, Israel succumbed to this US pressure, as it began to create safe corridors from today for the entry of aid from the United Nations as well as the expansion of air landings to provide food aid to save the lives of our people in Gaza, despite all that was said about Jordan from the sounds of the wall. اضافة اعلان Jordan is not waiting for anyone to move to save our people in Gaza ,they are in the heart and soul of His Majesty The King, as well as the Jordanian people, who consider the Palestinian as their other twin.
