Woman loses 2st in 8 weeks after finding 'easy' way to hit 11,000 steps each day

Many individuals set out to shed pounds, yet often find the journey fraught with complexity and setbacks, leading to a loss of heart and drive. Becky's story echoes this sentiment; she has battled with her weight since her teenage years, experiencing significant gains, particularly during 2020 and 2021. Becky recalls how she "gained a lot of weight" in her younger years and again more recently, noting that sticking to her weight loss plan was tough at first. But her perseverance paid off, as she managed to drop 20 pounds in just eight weeks using the WalkFit app. "This is just the beginning for me, and I feel so proud of what I've accomplished so far. I spent each week really focusing on me, my health and my goals. Eating fuelling and filling meals was a priority, as were my daily walks," Becky shares. The WalkFit app, currently offering newcomers up to 61% off their initial subscription term, is designed to cater to the hectic schedules of everyday folk. It provides users with customised walking and weight loss programmes tailored to their age, weight, and fitness levels. The app also includes options for indoor activities for those who may not have access to outdoor spaces and comes equipped with integrated step and calorie counters, reports the Mirror. Becky, who consistently meets her step goal of 11,000 steps at least five days a week, shared her sense of achievement, saying: "I was proud of myself for my commitment to get my 11,000 steps in." She's been using the WalkFit app, which offers daily goals and engaging challenges to keep users motivated with features like streaks, badges, and progress tracking. Discussing the challenges she faced, Becky mentioned: "Some days were just absolutely freezing outside or maybe it was raining or even snowing," but she didn't let that deter her. "I didn't let that stop me. If the weather wasn't cooperating, I got on my walking pad and I got the steps in." For those interested in joining the WalkFit community, the app provides a personalised quiz to help tailor a fitness programme to individual needs, considering factors such as fitness objectives, lifestyle habits, and past exercise or weight loss experience. The app is accessible on both iOS and Android platforms and offers support in six languages, including English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese. WalkFit has found particular popularity among women over 35 by promoting the message that walking alone can be sufficient for fitness. Reflecting on her initial fears, Becky confessed: "I was so terrified at the beginning," yet she encourages others by sharing her journey. "I was hopeful and had some belief in myself, but I was so scared. When I look at weight loss stories, I used to think, 'that will never be me,' or 'I'm just not meant to have a story like this.' But every day that I show up for myself, I'm proving that belief wrong. You can do that too." Encouraging words from a fitness enthusiast: "You can do it, and you just have to start small. Pace around the house for five minutes every hour. Get outside for 30 minutes per day to get some steps in. Over time, the small things add up." If this app isn't for everyone, there are others to choose from such as MyFitnessPal which is an all-in-one food, exercise and calorie tracker that has both free and paid subscription options on the app. Another option is the Nike Training Club App which gives access to over 200 free workouts and targeted training programs. Another user appreciated the flexibility, stating: "I like the fact I can exercise at my own speed, and there are so many daily choices, I can pick what I want and what I have time for on each particular day,". However, not everyone was impressed. A disappointed user said: "Not for me, I tried this app for 3 weeks, but found it uninspiring, and I can't see how you can really get fit and lose weight in 10 minutes a day. I contacted the company and raised my concerns, and they agreed to give me a full refund." Yet another reviewer praised the app's motivational aspect, writing: "I'm only able to push myself daily because of this app. I like that every day is different. So far, I have no suggestions for improvement."

Family's dream holiday turns to nightmare as man fights for life after complaining of dodgy belly

Family's dream holiday turns to nightmare as man fights for life after complaining of dodgy belly The Vorrias family were on the final day of their summer trip to Zakynthos when their brother became critically ill and his travel insurance was declared void Elias Vorrias, 47; Yiota Vorrias, 50; and Jenny Vorrias, 52, pictured while on holiday (Image: Supplied) A British family are stuck in Greece caring for their critically ill brother after his travel insurance was deemed invalid. The Vorrias family, from Loughborough, were enjoying what they described as the "absolute time of our lives" holiday in Zakynthos when Elias Vorrias fell ill. ‌ Elias, a 47 year old German shepherd breeder, had been sunbathing on Monday, July 21 - just days before he was due to return home. The next day, he began feeling "a bit shivery" with an "icky tummy", which the family initially attributed to the heat. However, by Tuesday, July 22, he was struggling to breathe and couldn't get out of bed, leading to an urgent call for an ambulance. ‌ Elias was swiftly taken to a medical centre and then transferred to Zakynthos General Hospital on the same day. For our free daily briefing on the biggest issues facing the nation, sign up to the Wales Matters newsletter here . ‌ The following morning (Wednesday, July 23), as his sisters Yiota and Jenny Vorrias were preparing to fly back home, Elias' doctors informed them that "he's dying" and his condition was worsening, necessitating his move to the intensive care unit (ICU). Elias's bank travel insurance provider has subsequently rendered his policy null and void owing to part of it being deemed invalid, reports Leicestershire Live. His relatives now confront a €40,000 bill for medical repatriation and are financing their prolonged stay in Greece independently, missing employment and spending approximately £80 daily on lodging and vehicle rental. Yiota and her sibling were compelled to deliver continuous care for Elias during the initial 24 hours on the general ward, since which time he has contracted sepsis from a liver infection and multiple organ failure and is presently sedated in intensive care. ‌ Yiota informed LeicestershireLive: "We were on a family vacation and having the absolute time of our lives and then everything changed. In Greece, you don't get any nursing care when you're on a general ward. They expect the family to look after the patient. The nurses are just there to give the medication." The family has already received a €2,114 bill from the initial medical centre, which they cannot presently settle. Yiota explained: "We've said to them, you might have to just wait because we're still stuck in Greece we can't pay it at the moment, but we promise we will pay it because without your care and sending him to the hospital, he might not be here now." Elias, who enjoyed a career in dance and entertainment whilst touring the globe aboard cruise ships, has been characterised by mates as the "most kindest, generous person that will do anything for anybody." ‌ However, his deteriorating state has rendered him "almost like delirious", with Yiota explaining: "He's just trying to fight me and my sister whenever we're trying to stop him getting off the bed." Medical staff have informed the family "it's a miracle he's got this far" according to Yiota, as Elias continues his fight against sepsis and multiple organ failure. He has also contracted pneumonia and remains unconscious due to a bronchial spasm which triggers distress when disturbed. The relatives say they have been living "from hour to hour" and then "day to day" whilst his condition stays critical. ‌ Both sisters have full-time employment they were due to resume in Loughborough on Thursday, July 24, yet they remain stuck abroad caring for Elias. Their 76 year old mum travelled out to Greece but found the 40C temperatures overwhelming, forcing her to remain indoors. The family interpreted the insurance firm's notification that no financial assistance would be provided as confirmation they were "on their own" following the voiding of Elias's policy. Yiota commented: " We want to warn other families about making sure you share any past and present medical information, no matter how old, with any 'free' bank travel insurance you may have, to ensure no other families go through the nightmare we are living in another country right now." A JustGiving page has been established to assist the family in raising the £38,000 required for an ICU air ambulance to bring Elias home for ongoing care. Further details, including how to contribute, can be found by searching for Elias Vorrias on the JustGiving website. Article continues below
