Arnold Schwarzenegger thinks The Running Man remake could be better than the original movie.
The 77-year-old actor starred as Ben Richards in the 1987 thriller based on author Stephen King's 1982 novel of the same name, though Schwarzenegger believes director Edgar Wright's new take on The Running Man - which will star Glen Powell as the protagonist - has a chance of improving on the first film.

Speaking to CBR, The Terminator star said: "I mean, I love the idea that they're doing a sequel to Running Man, or a remake.

"I don't know what it's going to be, but I mean, because I always felt when we did, Running Man was one of the movies that it did, that it felt like, I think it would have been great if we would have been better prepared for this movie, if we would have had more money for this movie, and if we would have had then ... the visual effects, the technology of visual effects, that they have today, all of those things I wished after the movie came out, I felt like it could have been better.
"It was great, but it could have been better, and I think that they have a good chance now with the new Running Man to make it better. And I hope, for their sake and for my sake, I hope that they will be successful."
The Running Man is set in a dystopian future where the poor are hunted for sport on live TV, and sees desperate contestant Ben Richards enter The Running Man game to earn money for his sick daughter.

However, as the odds stack against him, Ben discovers survival means turning the game against its creators.
Previously, Powell revealed Schwarzenegger gave him his blessing to play Ben Richards in Wright's upcoming remake of The Running Man - which is slated to hit cinemas in November 2025.
The Top Gun: Maverick star told People: "Arnold gave us his blessing. Patrick Schwarzenegger is a great friend of mine and I asked Patrick if I could talk to Arnold and I hadn't seen Arnold since we shot Expendables in Bulgaria.

"Arnold gave us his full blessing and we get to give Arnold a very specific fun gift from the movie in a couple of weeks here. So I'm very excited to see him."
Director Wright has also teased his take on The Running Man will be a more faithful adaptation of King's novel than the 1987 movie was.
Talking about the first Running Man flick on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the Baby Driver director said: "I like the film, but I like the book more, and they didn't really adapt the book.

"Even as a teenager, when I saw the Schwarzenegger film, I was like, 'Oh, this isn't like the book at all!' And I think, 'Nobody's [done] that book'.
"So when that came up, I was thinking, and [producer] Simon Kinberg says, 'Do you have any interest in The Running Man?' I said, 'You know what? I've often thought that that book is something crying out to be adapted'. Now, that doesn't mean that it's easy!"

Makers of new F1 film say they could not have done it without Lewis Hamilton

Seven-time world champion Hamilton is an executive producer on the Brad Pitt movie, titled 'F1', which is released in the United Kingdom on June 25. Hamilton has been heavily involved in the script – which sees 61-year-old Pitt play the role of veteran driver Sonny Hayes returning to the F1 grid after a long absence – to ensure the film is as authentic as possible. Joseph Kosinski, the man behind Top Gun: Maverick and director of the F1 movie, said at this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix: 'Lewis was the first person I reached out to when I had the initial idea for this. 'I sent him an email and just said, 'I want to tell a story in your world. I want to make it as authentic as possible. Will you help me?' And luckily Lewis said 'Yes'. 'He was involved in all the technical details with fascinating advice. In Hungary, for instance, he said, 'If Brad's going to let someone pass during a blue flag and he wants it to be as tight as possible, he's going to only do that at turn six'. SNEAK PEEK: The APXGP team meet for the first time! 👀#F1TheMovie – only in theatres late June Get tickets now: 🎟️#F1 — Formula 1 (@F1) June 11, 2025 'That kind of detail from a seven-time world champion who lives and breathes this world every day, I couldn't have got that from anywhere else. 'But Lewis also contributed to the story. There is a part in the film where Sonny Hayes talks about why he races and almost the spiritual side of it. And that also was inspired by a conversation with Lewis. So his involvement has been amazing. And we couldn't make the film without him.' Pitt's fictional rookie team-mate Joshua Pearce is played by British actor Damson Idris. Filming has taken place across multiple races over the last two seasons, and F1 chiefs hope the movie will follow the popularity of Netflix's Drive To Survive series in cracking America.

Strictly's Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly react to King's Birthday Honours MBEs The Strictly Come Dancing presenters have been recognised for their work in British broadcasting spanning two decades Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly (Image: 2018 Getty Images ) TV presenters Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly have both been made Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to broadcasting, as part of the King's Birthday Honours list. Claudia , 53, said she was 'incredibly grateful' to receive the honour and dedicated it to the teams she has worked with throughout her career. She said: 'I am incredibly grateful to receive this honour. ‌ "It's a real privilege to work with extraordinarily talented people and I've only got this because of them." For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter ‌ "So this is for the BBC, the traitors and the faithful, for pianos and for the cha cha. I will buy a hat and am taking my mum. I'm ridiculously lucky and will celebrate with Tess by doing a paso doble.' Claudia studied history of art at Cambridge University before launching a career in broadcasting. She has hosted a wide range of television and radio shows, including Comic Relief, The Great British Sewing Bee and Claudia on Sunday on BBC Radio 2. She joined Strictly Come Dancing in 2004, initially presenting the weekday spin-off It Takes Two. Article continues below In 2014, she became the main co-host alongside Tess following Sir Bruce Forsyth's departure. In recent years, she has fronted the hit BBC game show The Traitors, winning a BAFTA for best entertainment performance in 2023. She is due to present its celebrity spin-off later this year. Claudia also presents The Piano on Channel 4, alongside musicians Mika and Jon Batiste and she is also a trustee of the British Museum and a patron of Child Bereavement UK. ‌ Tess, 56, said the MBE came as "the greatest surprise" of her life, revealing the letter had almost gone astray after being sent to the wrong address. She told the PA News Agency: "This genuinely came as the greatest surprise of my life. I don't think I've come back down to earth yet, I didn't see it coming, and it almost didn't happen, because the letter went to the wrong address. "And thank goodness, someone very kind found me. And so by the time I got it, I only had, I think it was two or three days left to accept it. There's a deadline of acceptance. I can't imagine not ever wanting to accept such a wonderful award. But of course I did. ‌ "But yes, it was cutting it fine, because it went to the wrong address first of all, but it ended well.' She added: "I cried when I opened the letter, because I just I couldn't believe it. "I genuinely couldn't, and the first thing I wanted to do was tell my dad, because I lost my dad many years ago, and I know how proud my dad would have been, and I would love to have shared that news with him more than anything. ‌ "He would been incredibly proud in a very Northern, humble fashion. Because you're under strict instructions, of course, not to share the news before it's made public. But I must admit, I did tell immediate members of my family and swore them to secrecy." Tess has co-hosted Strictly Come Dancing since its launch in 2004. She began her career as a model before making her television debut in 1999, hosting a modelling competition on The Big Breakfast. She went on to present programmes such as Home On Their Own, Back To Reality and National Television Awards coverage. ‌ She presented Strictly alongside Sir Bruce Forsyth until 2014, then continued to host the show with Claudia. Together they led the 20th anniversary series in 2023 and won a BAFTA TV Award for best entertainment programme in 2024. Outside of Strictly, Tess has co-hosted BBC Children in Need with Sir Terry Wogan and fronted a BBC documentary looking at the history of broadcasting in Manchester. ‌ She and her husband, presenter Vernon Kay, have been patrons of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity since 2007. In 2023, she released a lifestyle book titled 4 Steps: To A Happier, Healthier You. Reflecting on her career, Tess said: "I love that for the last 20 years our only agenda has been joy. It's just feel-good entertainment, and being a part of that has felt like a gift. Article continues below "Broadcasting is a collective effort and I've been lucky to work with some of the best people in the business. "From working with Bruce at the start to becoming the first all-female prime-time presenting duo with Claudia, it's been a special journey. That meant a lot to me as a mother of girls, to show that it could be done."

BBC Strictly Come Dancing 2025 'line-up leaked' as bosses face 'fear' ahead of new series

BBC Strictly Come Dancing 2025 'line-up leaked' as bosses face 'fear' ahead of new series The BBC are said to be taking no risks with the 2025 line-up of Strictly Come Dancing as they are desperate to avoid any scandal ahead of the new series "Strictly Come Dancing: The Live Tour 2025" in january (L-R) Kai Widdrington, Jamie Borthwick, Robbie Kmetoni, Aljaž Škorjanec, Wynne Evans, Carlos Gu, Janette Manrara, JB Gill, Nikita Kuzmin, Shayne Ward and Neil Jones. (Image: Getty Images ) BBC chiefs are reportedly gripped by a "terrible, terrible fear" that Strictly Come Dancing could be marred by scandal once more this year, prompting them to vet contestants rigorously for the upcoming series. The popular dance show has been hit by startling headlines in recent times, and the latest incident involves EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick, who is participating in the 2024 series. He was suspended by the BBC for using an offensive term towards disabled individuals during filming in Blackpool. ‌ This follows the controversy surrounding Giovanni Pernice, after his dance partner Amanda Abbington accused him of bullying and aggressive behaviour, leading the broadcaster to initiate an internal probe. In May, radio presenter Wynne Evans announced his departure from the BBC following the non-renewal of his contract. ‌ Evans had previously issued an apology for what he termed an "inappropriate and unacceptable" comment made at the launch of the Strictly Come Dancing live tour in December, which was directed at professional dancer and It Takes Two host Janette Manrara. In an effort to avoid any further issues, the BBC is determined to ensure a 'risk-free' line-up for the next season. Among those being considered are Blue Peter hosts Joel Mawhinney and Shini Muthukrishnan, as well as Tom Parker Bowles, son of Queen Camilla, reports the Mirror. Georgia Toffolo, the queen of I'm a Celebrity Jungle, is rumoured to be in the running, as is Girls Aloud's Nicola Roberts. Reports suggest that newlywed and former Love Island star Dani Dyer is under consideration, with ex-Coronation Street actress Helen Flanagan also on the list of potential candidates. Article continues below "There is a terrible, terrible fear among those high up that these awful things are going to keep happening and the show will be brought into disrepute again and again," a BBC insider is reported to have revealed to MailOnline. "With that in mind, they are taking no chances. "Stringent checks will be carried out, along with inquiries and investigations into the backgrounds of potential stars to ensure that no one who could tarnish the show's reputation is chosen. For years, there was the infamous Strictly 'curse', where contestants and professionals were embroiled in affairs. But that has ceased. "Changes were made to the partnerships and it worked. However, there have been other issues in recent years. What's even more embarrassing for the BBC is that Wynne and Jamie are from their own roster of stars. Moving forward, those at the helm want a wholesome image to prevail. No more scandal – just joy." ‌ Over the weekend, EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick expressed his deep regret for using a derogatory term about disabled people. This shocking revelation comes six months after his stint on the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing - which is when the alleged incident is believed to have occurred. The actor, aged 30, has been a fixture on EastEnders since 2006, portraying the character Jay Brown. However, he is currently suspended from the soap following the emergence of a video in which he uses offensive language, allegedly shared amongst friends. He has issued a heartfelt apology, as reported by The Sun on Sunday, stating: "I want to apologise sincerely and wholeheartedly for the words I used in the video showing my reaction to making it through Blackpool week on Strictly. Article continues below "I am deeply sorry for any offence and upset my words and actions have caused. It is no excuse, but I did not fully understand the derogatory term I used and its meaning. That is on me completely. "Now I am aware, I am deeply embarrassed to have used the term and directed it in the way I did. It was wrong." He further extended his apologies to the people of Blackpool and reiterated his regret over his choice of words. A representative of the star was contacted by The Mirror for comment.
