Hostel with modern security for working women in Varanasi soon
Varanasi: In a move to benefit working women, a 500-bed hostel featuring state-of-the-art security arrangements will be built in Mahmoorganj soon.
Providing details of the projects, Chief Development Officer Himanshu Nagpal said that the women's hostel will be constructed on a 2,630 square metre area in Mahmoorganj.
This will be a multi-storey building with accommodation facilities for 500 women at a time.
He added that security will be given top priority, with all necessary and modern arrangements in place to ensure women's safety. As part of it, CCTV surveillance and the presence of security personnel will be ensured round the clock. The work on the project will begin once the land transfer process is completed, he added. "As women's security is among the top priorities of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, which is reflected in many govt initiatives like Mission Shakti and also to empower them by making them self-reliant, the need for building this hostel was assessed.
The hostel will be designed with modern amenities, keeping the needs of working women in mind," said an official.
This step will not only provide a safe shelter for the increasing number of working women in the city but also ease concerns for women and their guardians. Additionally, it will help save time and money on commuting by allowing women to live closer to their workplaces, the official added. Reacting to this initiative, a working woman, Pooja Chaubey, mentioned that this hostel will provide a conducive environment for working women to become self-reliant and advance.

Gomti clean-up drive creates awareness to protect environ
Lucknow: During the combined celebration of Ganga Dussehra, World Environment Day and 53rd birthday of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, an environmental awareness and river clean-up drive was organised by the Lucknow Municipal Corporation on Gomti river banks on Thursday, during which hyacinth and plastic waste were removed from the river. Addressing the event, urban development minister A K Sharma said, "We cannot remain safe by harming environment. Our culture teaches us that all five elements, earth, water, fire, air, and space, are sacred and if we pollute them, we only endanger ourselves." Environmental balance was crucial for human survival, added Sharma. The campaign began at 6am and covered the 8-km stretch from Gomti Barrage to Gulala Ghat. LMC divided the riverfront into eight clusters, each overseen by a senior municipal official. Teams removed water hyacinth, idol remnants, plastic and other waste from the river. The initiative included planting over 1,000 saplings of species including Rudraksha, banyan, mango and hibiscus along the riverfront. Sharma and Mayor Sushma Kharkwal participated by planting trees on Laxman Mela Ground. The event featured interactive activities like 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam', 'Plogging for Plastic', and 'Human Chain for Environment' to engage public participation. LMC commissioner Gaurav Kumar praised collaborative nature of the campaign, which united citizens, officials and volunteers. Kharkwal dedicated the campaign as a birthday gift to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, highlighting his commitment to environmental conservation and announced plans for similar clean-up drives on national leaders' anniversaries to maintain public involvement. She emphasised that cleanliness was collective responsibility and urged citizens to adopt eco-friendly habits for future generations.

Key Ceremony At Ayodhya Ram Temple Concludes, Yogi Adityanath Attends
Ayodhya: A spiritually charged atmosphere enveloped Ayodhya on Thursday as the Pran Pratishtha (consecration) ceremony of Shri Ram Darbar and other deities was completed with great devotion in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The elaborate ritual, held on the occasion of Ganga Dussehra, marked the culmination of a three-day religious ceremony held within the Ram Janmabhoomi complex. The sound of Vedic mantras, conch shells, and Acharyas' chants reverberated across the holy city, lending an air of divine solemnity to the event. The final day began with the worship of invoked deities at the Yagya Mandap at 6.30 a.m., followed by a havan at 9 a.m. The highlight was the use of modern audio-visual technology that connected the entire area during the pran prathishtha. Vedic tradition and modern technology blended for the consecration of idols in different shrines at the same muhurta. Deities consecrated included Shri Ram Darbar, Sheshavatar, Shiva (northeast corner), Ganesh Ji (southeast), Hanuman Ji (south), Surya Dev (southwest), Maa Bhagwati (northwest), and Annapurna Mata (north). The rituals concluded with a special Aarti and Bhandara (community feast), attended by a large gathering of saints, Vedic scholars, officials from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, and thousands of devotees from India and abroad. Adding a personal dimension to the occasion, the event coincided with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's birthday, for which he sought blessings from Lord Shri Ram. The day also marked the Trayodashi Janmotsav (birth anniversary) of the Saryu River, amplifying the spiritual significance. Several members of the saint community hailed the Chief Minister for restoring the ancient glory of Ram Nagari (Ayodhya) through the construction of the grand temple and the comprehensive development of the city. Over the past eight years, Ayodhya has undergone a massive transformation with development projects worth over Rs 32,000 crore, including upgrades in roads, railways, an international airport, riverfront beautification, and enhanced tourism infrastructure. Landmark projects like the Ram Katha Park, rejuvenation of the Saryu ghats, and the development of a modern temple complex have reshaped Ayodhya's identity and placed it firmly on the global map. To ensure the smooth conduct of the grand event, the administration made elaborate security arrangements. The temple and surrounding areas were under multi-layered surveillance, with deployments from the ATS, CRPF, PAC, and local police. SP Security said the site was under impenetrable security cover, aided by modern surveillance systems.
