USA Today7 hours ago

Summer is here, and it is everyone's favorite time of the year, scouting time. Every year, we do Summer Scouting to preview college football for Bucs fans, but also give them an idea of names to follow and watch in the fall as needs pop up for Tampa Bay.
Are we going to write about quarterbacks? You know it, but why? Because other NFL teams will draft them, just as they will draft every other position. It all matters whether these players end up on the Bucs, the Bears, or the Steelers. We write these so Bucs fans can be the most informed fans.
So if you are still with us, enjoy our latest Summer Scouting report as we prepare you for the Fall.

Player Summary
Carnell Tate is someone that I don't remember catching my eye during Ohio State's National Championship run, but I enjoyed his film. He does a lot of stuff really well, even if he doesn't do anything great. He has great vision and awareness as a ball carrier that allows him to excel in YAC situations. He has a big frame, he has good body control of that allows him to get leverage in one-on-one situations, and as a result, he has some success on the outside. Tate has some work to do with his route tree and developing more of his athletic traits, but he could be an interesting Day Two or Three option come next April for someone with high upside to bet on.

Rising 2026 3-star OT chooses Ohio State over Texas A&M

Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class has landed its 20th and 21st commitments on Wednesday afternoon after four-star offensive tackles Avery Morcho and Zaden Krempin made their consecutive announcements. However, after Krempin chose the Aggies over Texas, three-star offensive lineman Aaron Thomas committed to Ohio State on Wednesday night. After his official visit to Texas A&M last weekend, Thomas was predicted to land with the Aggies. Still, knowing that Avery Morcho and Zaden Krempin represent the future starters at tackle, at least on paper, Ohio State's roster holes at tackle, combined with the program's elite reputation, sealed the deal late. Standing at 6-7 and 300 pounds, Thomas has a very bright future despite his late switch to the O-line. On film, Thomas exhibits the athletic traits necessary to become a reliable pass protector, thanks to his fluid athleticism, which enhances his footwork and balance. His size and strength will also enable him to bulldoze defenders in the run game. Texas A&M offensive line coach Adam Cushing is one of the top assistant coaches in college football, thanks to his ability to develop promising offensive linemen into future NFL draft selections —a skill he demonstrated during his time at Northwestern and Duke in the same role. Still, this is how recruiting works when surprise commitments, like Krempin, affect the decisions of fellow ascending tackle prospects. According to 247Sports, Thomas is currently positioned as the 50th-ranked tackle and the 8th-ranked prospect in Arizona. NFL Warned To Beware 'Provoked' Kansas City Chiefs In 2025

NFL Warned To Beware 'Provoked' Kansas City Chiefs In 2025 originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The last thing NFL teams want in 2025, after witnessing back-to-back Super Bowls and making it to a third, is an angry Kansas City Chiefs team looking to prove a point. Advertisement So long the dominant force in football, they had their colors lowered in the Super Bowl, and that was enough for people to sharpen their pitchforks and descend on the AFC champs. But that might not be the smartest move. Much like a wounded lion backed into a corner, the Chiefs only have one option in 2025, and it isn't one teams are hoping to be on the end of - to fight back. Still featuring Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid as the top duo, along with the return of Rashee Rice, Isiah Pacheco, and Marquise Brown, the expected improvement from Xavier Worthy and Travis Kelce, coupled with Steve Spagnuolo's defense, suggests the Chiefs still have some bite. Advertisement And for Fox Sports' Ben Arthur, when using one word to describe Kansas City's offseason, he chose "provoked." "Following their humiliating Super Bowl LIX loss to the Eagles, the Chiefs are expected to have an edge in the new season," Arthur writes. "Not only did Travis Kelce commit to play in 2025, but Kansas City will also have Rashee Rice back from an injured knee that cost him all but four games in 2024." Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes looks on during Super J. Rebilas-Imagn Images Beware the wounded animal. And the Chiefs in 2025 are the definition of wounded, not physically, but mentally, with many out on them as a genuine Super Bowl contender. For a team that got curb-stomped in the Super Bowl, they didn't need any more motivation to return with a vengeance, but they have gotten it repeatedly with those doubting their ability to still be the top dog in the conference. Advertisement Backed into a corner, with the pitchforks pointed in their direction, this once dominant Chiefs team has something to prove. And "provoking" this AFC giant might be the nightmare fuel in 2025. Is Chiefs' Andy Reid The Best Head Coach In Football?

Is Chiefs' Andy Reid The Best Head Coach In Football? originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Kansas City Chiefs have been the NFL's most dominant force since Patrick Mahomes became the starter, and the franchise hasn't looked back. Advertisement Reaching at least the AFC Championship in each season since 2018, plus winning three Super Bowls, and losing two, the Chiefs have been winning more than most. Mahomes is a reason for that, as is head coach Andy Reid, who consistently has a knack for putting his players in the right position to succeed in the biggest moments. When ranking the top head coaches in the NFL, Pro Football Focus, as most would, has Reid at No. 1. "Like Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots teams before them, the Kansas City Chiefs are the masters of situational football," Pro Football Focus writes. "The Chiefs played in 12 one-score games last season, including the playoffs, and won all of them. They found a way to reach the Super Bowl for the third straight season because Andy Reid has his entire team prepared for any situation." Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and defensive line coach Joe Cullen. Bill Streicher-Imagn Images Reid currently sits fourth all-time for wins (273), second for playoff wins (28), has three Super Bowls, and has six conference titles. Advertisement As Chiefs head coach, Reid has an astonishing 143-53 regular season record, and is 18-8 in the playoffs. Most would attribute the playoff success to Mahomes, and that is fair (like Brady and Belichick), but there's no denying Reid, who is also the offensive coordinator, has more than played his role. Yes, the Chiefs were blown out in the Super Bowl, but Reid still remains one of, if not the best coach in football today.
