One dead, another seriously hurt in crash near Nyalau Bridge

BINTULU (May 29): A man was killed and another seriously injured in a road accident near the Nyalau Bridge along Jalan Pesisir Bintulu-Miri earlier today.
According to Samalaju Fire and Rescue (Bomba) chief Irwin Abidin, a team from his station was dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at 1.59pm.
The incident involved a white pick-up truck carrying two Indonesian nationals.
'One of the victims identified as Dafid Duanda Putra was found trapped in the driver's seat and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel,' he said in a statement.
The second victim, known only as Ikhsan, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered serious head injuries.
He was given initial treatment at the scene before being transported to Bintulu Hospital at 3.03pm.

When asked about the allegations made against the girl's mother, Ramli said they would investigate all the testimony given to facilitate prosecution. "There are certain details that cannot be divulged at this juncture as it could disturb the process of investigation and prosecution," he said.

26-year-old man killed after three-car collision on Jalan Pan Borneo

The snakes, which included 44 Indonesian pit vipers, were 'concealed in checked-in baggage', Mumbai Customs said in a statement late Sunday. 'An Indian national arriving from Thailand was arrested,' it added. The passenger also had three Spider-tailed horned vipers – which are venomous, but usually only target small prey such as birds -- as well as five Asian leaf turtles. Mumbai Customs issued photographs of the seized snakes, including blue and yellow reptiles squirming in a bucket.
